| #1WebsterAug 27, 2009 18:13:02 | Just so we don't have an explosion of 5000 different threads.
|
| #2ctstraightedgeAug 27, 2009 18:14:51 | Sorin as an avatar :-) |
| #3xfollowthereaperxAug 27, 2009 18:17:18 | Some of the buttons don't appear as others do in Firefox.
|
| #4malrauxAug 27, 2009 18:17:53 | I would like some sort of theme/option for a somewhat narrower forum. Yeah I know 1024 wide is old tech, but I'm not looking to upgrade anytime soon. |
| #5fabius_maximusAug 27, 2009 18:18:25 | 1. The quick navigation menu at the bottom of each site in the old board was a huge help navigating the forums. Please bring it back.
2. New themes that are easy on the eyes. All this white is quite straining.
3. Please let us change our user names in the Profile window. The route over CustServ is too complicated. |
| #6copproAug 27, 2009 18:19:21 | Intra-forum links were broken by the update. They simply return you to the main forums page. There should at least be a message explaining that intra-forum links were broken by the upgrade, but really, someone should have taken care to make sure the links remained intact. |
| #7ppaladin123Aug 27, 2009 18:19:30 | 1. spoiler blocks!!!
2. All the sub-forums are listed one after another in paragraph format. That is not particularly easy on the eyes and it makes it harder to find the particular forum (e.g. character optimization, defenders, multiclassing, etc.) you are looking for. Can we bullet point them or something similar? |
| #8matthewjhansonAug 27, 2009 18:19:34 | My moniter cannot go wider than 1024, so I have to scroll the website sidways to view it all. Could you shrink it down a little please? |
| #9TophehAug 27, 2009 18:20:16 | sblock and deck appear to not work anymore... and would there be any way to remove the 'recent topics' and 'most viewed topics' sidebars? Everything seems so... narrow... now. |
| #10narukagamiAug 27, 2009 18:21:39 | My post count and subscribed threads are all lost. |
| #11YitziAug 27, 2009 18:28:54 | In addition to the request (mentioned by someone else in another thread) to recover PMs if possible, I would also appreciate if there were some way to modify viewing options (especially number of threads per page). Also, the current system has the white space of the post the same color as the space outside the post, with no border; this makes it harder to read. Also, when writing a post it doesn't show the last several posts; this also makes things harder and should be changed. |
| #12xfollowthereaperxAug 27, 2009 18:29:30 | What the heck? One of them even have a "1/4" symbol
|
| #13rukcusAug 27, 2009 18:30:42 | 1. Option to disable the Recent Topics/Popular Topics sidebar from appearing, so it doesn't eat up 33% of the screen real estate. 2. Page doesn't like up at the bottom (bottom banner is indented) 3. "Insert Photo"/"Insert Video" are dummy links that simply refresh the current page (and deleting your post). It worked once, and now it doesn't. I'm using IE6. 4. Numerous visual-graphic errors that are hideous on the eyes. This includes the "Preview Post" button which is not long enough to contain the text and current appears as "Preview Po". The "Cancel" does not even have a button look to it. 5. Please add an option to select/customize preferences for each Tab view. Preferably for the Forum tab, which is where most of the users have the most investment in. EDIT: 6. Under the default theme, the sub-forum identifier is White text on White background. 6.b. Some sub-forums have a header text that's literally Size:0. You can hardly tell there's text there. |
| #14drnickAug 27, 2009 18:31:00 | That pic broke my theme. Not sure if that's happening on all of them though. |
| #15xfollowthereaperxAug 27, 2009 18:32:40 |
It seemed to break that page only. Previous page in this thread works. |
| #16YitziAug 27, 2009 18:33:15 | Also, seconding the complaint about line length. Also, spoiler blocks from before no longer work properly. |
| #17whitebaronAug 27, 2009 18:34:37 | what i need: 1) different themes. this one is just to hard on my eyes. 2) sblocks or any other means to use spoiler-tags. 3) shortcuts to link to any other thread or post. 4) vbb instead of tinymce html editor.
what are general bugs: a) all the old posts should be converted if the tags do NOT stay the same. pretty much everything that was ever written in vbb is new SCREWED up. example: community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758... b) signatures did not get converted, as are ignore lists. c) usernames are displayed all lowercase, with only the first letter in uppercase. that's really an annoyance, users do not spell their upper or lowercase letters by chance.
|
| #18sianAug 27, 2009 18:40:38 |
Your sig is too wide and breaks the tiny forum format. =(
My main issue is how much space the recent and popular topics frames take up. It's ridiculous to have those over taking up a third of the screen all the time. It's fine on the forums home page (which they aren't on!) but when I'm deep in a thread, I'd really rather not see them. That space is better utilized for stuff I actually want to read! |
| #19PenthauAug 27, 2009 18:42:28 | I set my posts per page to 40 several times under preferences and it stays at 10. It also sends me back to the uppermost forum page. |
| #20narukagamiAug 27, 2009 18:43:16 | The topic feed on the side needs to give some kind of indication what section the posts are in. |
| #2100neinAug 27, 2009 18:46:09 | I'd really like to see a new feature added that allows people to connect for games and to form groups. Think of it as matchmaking players and DMs in their home cities. If I am looking for a new group, I go to the page, and list myself as seeking a game as a player, DM, either, or both. Then someone else can some in and search for people in their city, and find other people that are looking for games/groups. |
| #22highbulpAug 27, 2009 19:00:24 | Yes, a narrower display please! Some of us don't have giant huge monitors with amazing resolution :p |
| #23kratchAug 27, 2009 19:02:22 | Navigation links at the top skip the DnD subforum your in.. For example, in this thread, at the top it goes Classic View > Dungeons and Dragons > Comunity Business > Bug Issues.... It skipped the DnD HQ (and skips DnD fundamentals, etc) |
| #24KerrusAug 27, 2009 19:10:12 | I've got a friend req to a friend that's vanished- both our profiles tell us it's pending, but it doesn't appear to be anywhere when we try and accept it- and when we try to resend it, it tells us it's already pending.
I'd like to see the capability to view sent friend reqs, and manage them.
Also, yeah, I don't know if it's firefox, but the display goes wonky on pages- header bars are too long, and god forbid if I increase the font size too much. Buttons are weird, and things scale wrong so a lot of text goes off the edge. |
| #25narukagamiAug 27, 2009 19:11:17 | I also want to second the ability to customize the side feed. I have no interest at all in whats going on in the forums of games that I don't play, so I don't want to see them cluttering up my monitor. |
| #26KerrusAug 27, 2009 19:15:36 | It'd also be nice to customize WHERE the 'forums' link goes, so that when I click forums because I want to go to D&D, I don't have to click through that atrocious picture menu every bloody time. |
| #27joni-sanAug 27, 2009 19:26:24 | Where are all the old avatars? And can you implement .png avatars? Where did the old forum themes go? Search is not as good as it was. Where is Quick Reply? And my Quick Edit? I need Spoiler Blocks. And Font Sizes. Where is the option to review a thread while writing a new message? I want the old Smilies back. Old Quotes look wonky. A lot of the old functionality is gone. We want it back. |
| #28narukagamiAug 27, 2009 19:28:33 | I want the old "View my subscribed threads" section back. It was easy and convieniant to be able to see all my subscribed threads listed AND which ones had new posts in them in one easy-to-access page. The fact nothing like that exists is just mind-boggling.
You dropped the ball Wizards. You really did. |
| #29KerrusAug 27, 2009 19:34:09 | I wish forum codes actually worked, I mean bloody hell, they exist so I don't have tos pend a bajillion minutes clicking everywhere |
| #30-Lumi-Aug 27, 2009 19:39:17 | My name lost its capitalization in the transfer, but I'll bother CustServ with it. Group profile avatar doesn't update properly. The group's real picture changes but I can't seem to change the profile picture that way. It's over at community.wizards.com/hashhash4e, I deleted the older picture so that might be it. |
| #31AlficlesAug 27, 2009 19:44:14 | Please, oh PLEASE let me use a page with lower margins. My monitor is 900px wide and the new forums are nigh on unreadable. The new features are cool (Yay Wikis and Groups!), but not being able to navigate the forums without massive use of side scroll bar is almost a deal killer. With any luck, I'll be able to greasemonkey the site into submission. |
| #32ranadielAug 27, 2009 19:50:01 | Can we get some basic forum functionality back? Stuff like displaying pages for multipage threads in the thread overview so that we can click straight there rather than having to start on page 1. Or perhaps more importantly, being able to go to the last unread post in a thread. Actually, can I can get some kind of obvious indicator that there has been a new post. That would be nice(maybe there is one, but I didn't notice it earlier). I'd also like size codes back as my compilation thread depended on them for formatting. |
| #33skyodinAug 27, 2009 19:53:02 | I second the request for the ability to adjust forum viewing options. Ten posts per page is way too few for me, and I would like the option of increasing it. Like others, I would like the option to disable the right-hand sidebar. We also definitely need s-blocks back. For that matter, it would be nice to have all of the old vbb tags and smilies back. They are much more functional than HTML in my opinion.
EDIT: My screen-name has been altered in the migration as well. It used to be SkyOdin. |
| #34MagicShoeboxAug 27, 2009 19:55:51 |
Look in the upper left, there's a link called Preferences where you can adjust # of posts/page. I do agree about the codes/smilies though. I hope they simply didn't have them coded in yet and are working on it. Having to click the formatting options everytime I want to use one is poor. Gerdef |
| #35kletian999Aug 27, 2009 19:58:15 | I hate to post just to repeat what others are saying, but seriously: please bring back the brown paper look and kill the recent/popular posts sidebar. |
| #36ranadielAug 27, 2009 20:01:33 | ......I just realized they got rid of the twitch and uh-huh smileys. I now know why they got rid of the font sizes, because if they hadn't I would be screaming obsenities as large as possible at them right now. Migrating to ENWorld is sounding really good to me right now. |
| #37BadCatManAug 27, 2009 20:18:06 | Everything said above, and...
All that cod-HTML code no longer works. There goes my Handbook...
On the start page, all the buttons for different boards occasionally vanish when you mouse-over them. I've done basic web-page building and that's the first thing I checked before uploading.
Very slow responsiveness, sometimes I hit enter or type, and nothing happens. (Firefox, University internet connection, so normally quite fast.)
Line-spacing in writing a post is too far apart, it seems to be 1.5 instead of 1. And it's even worse in the finished product.
Way too much empty space crowding out post windows. Make them bigger. And please get rid of the side-bar advertising new and popular threads/posts, or make it customizable so it can be either removed and/or limited to boards you're interested in.
Search is worse than ever, without even the option to search thread titles instead of posts, let alone an Advanced Search option.
It's difficult to find forums, as the forum names are small and all run together rather being bulletted. And they're out of order - shouldn't Forgotten Realms General, Forgotten Realms Realmslore and Running The Realms all sit together?
I'm sure I'll find more problems. |
| #38tarionzcousinAug 27, 2009 20:26:48 |
Your post count appears to be back. It says 739. But where are my subscribed threads? |
| #39narukagamiAug 27, 2009 20:29:31 |
I had nearly 2k before this switchover. |
| #40KerrusAug 27, 2009 20:32:58 | postcount? Really?
Feh, I just want sblocks back, and for them to make the site work on different resolutions so I don't have to spend a day scrolling to the side to read stuff. Fixed width is one of those horrible horrible decisions I can't see them actually approving, so I can only come to the conclusion that it was the result of someone being lazy and taking advantage of standardized monitor size in the office. |
| #41GelatinousOctahedronAug 27, 2009 20:38:54 | sblocks. I know everyone else has said this, but I put a lot of work into my handbook and it is unreadable now. I even have a lot of stuff I was ready to add to it that I will not add until this is fixed because without sblock it is useless. |
| #42malisteenAug 27, 2009 20:41:56 | The white. Seriously. It hurts my eyes.
Also, Pink link text is painful to read, especially over the white. bat move.
and seriously, that was a double return. There should be one blank line, and then this line. It looks like there are four or five blank lines there. WTH.
Need spoiler blocks! Need search functionality! need to ditch that useless 'recent threads' column. I don't care much for friend or homepage or group options. If I wanted to use facebook, I would go to used facebook. Wizards had one of the best forum setups around. A joy to use, easy to format, easy on the eyes. This was not a trade I approve of. |
| #43tenianAug 27, 2009 20:44:16 | The option to convert the look back to classic. |
| #44narukagamiAug 27, 2009 20:48:38 |
Yeah, its just a minor complaint. My real issue is the complete disappearance of ALL my subscribed threads. |
| #45lordcorwyynAug 27, 2009 20:58:28 |
Seconded (or is it 942'd by now?). Maybe I'm just an old-timer, but I want forums to be functional as forums, not a "Gamers Singles-dot-com" kind of thing with message capacity tacked on seemingly as an afterthought. |
| #46zackalAug 27, 2009 21:04:10 | Just off the top of my head that I observed in the first ten minutes of playing around with the new forums:
The choice of a white background is a bit distracting. I'd like something similar to what we had before, or at least options to change it to a classic version (I'm sure they'll have something like this eventually). The way the forums and sub-forums are laid out is a bit hard for me to get used to. It feels a bit cluttered. I also wish there was a more logical arrangement for the forums. I liked how they were given enough space between each other (at least the D&D ones). It might be just me (and the fact that this new format will take some getting used to), but I also feel like I have to jump through more hoops to check out some of the forums and threads I used to always navigate to before.
Also, the spacing when I use the carriage return is kinda wonky when I try posting here now. |
| #47kilpatdsAug 27, 2009 21:33:08 | Show Hiding sblocks would be nice |
| #48scipioAug 27, 2009 21:42:13 |
|
| #49NifftAug 27, 2009 21:45:30 | Links in quotes don't work either. community.wizards.com/go/forum/view/7588... Quote this, submit, then click on the link. Oh well, -- N |
| #50ff6shadowAug 27, 2009 22:56:35 |
This. This right here. I had over 500 threads subscribed too. They ranged from pbp games to homebrewed content (3.5 and 4th). Guess what? There is nextto no chance I'm ever going to find them. All the conversations or debates I was involved in? I spent most of my time on the forum watching my subscribed threads. Further, I'm not going to be able to find them. Navigating this forum is a nightmare for me. My PC blows. My screen size is only 640x480 and the white is burning my eyes. It's just a total nightmare. I never thought I'd consider leaving the forum, but I'm seriously considering it now. |
| #51redclock_the_untimelyAug 27, 2009 23:52:27 | I'd like to see a return of viewing the first line or two of a thread when I hover over its link in the forums. It saves so much time when thread titles are ambiguous or lost in translation. |
| #52lokiareAug 28, 2009 0:04:23 | They need to take a look at how the my.yahoo.com page works. I mean it is so customizable. You can grab anything and re-arrange how it looks. They need something like that. Seriously WotC you screwed this one up. You could have just grabbed a fully functional completely tested 'community' site package, but you decided not to, plus there was little or no testing. Seriously spend some money and get this thing working! |
| #53mnemonicsvAug 28, 2009 0:05:07 | (removed complaint) Nevermind.. wasn't logged in at the other page I was viewing in a different window. Oh, and add to that pretty much almost everything that everyone else has suggested. Also: Actually, If I had a choice, I'd lose the SV entirely from my forum name (they're just my RL initials, I only put them in because way back in April 2001, "Mnemonic" was taken). Still, now my forum name just looks like a big typo instead of having any significance at all. EDIT: Oh, and everyone remember: Any text that appears between the "<" and ">" symbols will not be included in the post when submitted, since the system uses html tags now. |
| #54BelorinAug 28, 2009 0:38:33 | Why is the Running the Realms sub-forum below the Other Worlds sub-forum and not the Realmslore sub-forum? Where is the little Go to first unread post widgit for the threads? Where is the title of the last posted thread for the sub-forums? Why is there air?
Bel |
| #55scipioAug 28, 2009 0:43:09 | Where is the little Go to first unread post widgit for the threads? Well, this one I can answer at least, thanks to Dirtyfrank in the Off Topic Tavern. Have you seen that after you read/post in a thread you get a little pink box with the number of new posts in it after someone else posts in that thread? Just click that and it takes you to wherever you last read to in the thread. |
| #56BelorinAug 28, 2009 0:46:43 | Where is the little Go to first unread post widgit for the threads? Ah! That answers that question and another one too boot! I would offer you a cookie sir, but it seem they forgot to bake any.
Bel |
| #57scipioAug 28, 2009 0:51:05 | Where is the little Go to first unread post widgit for the threads? Always glad to help. They'll definitely have to fix the lack of cookies. (Although its low on the priority list, after getting rid of those new/popular thread boxes and a few other things.) |
| #58trismagestusAug 28, 2009 0:54:48 |
Click 'Preferences' at the top of the page, select 'Thread Subscriptions' option. They haven't archived our old ones, but at least they're easier to add now (button at the top of every thread, one click does it). |
| #59mnemonicsvAug 28, 2009 1:13:06 | I seriously think that WotC needs to limit what html tags posters are allowed to use in their posts. Near as I can tell right now (as illustrated by my last post), I don't think there's anything that can't be coded in. EDIT: Actually... I just tried playing around with some code, and some WAS removed. For instance, watch as I insert the code for a signature line, even though I don't have a signature set up (apologies to Narukagami for stealing his sig): This new forum is terrible. Try again Wizards. |
| #60BilopTheFleshwarperAug 28, 2009 2:37:45 | What CAN'T I insert into my posts now? Things against the ToS.
I have a blog, I don't use it often, I have very little to express to the world as the interrnet doesn't care about me making a daily post saying "SSDD" Forcing the Blog, and wiki and photostore and video stuff down our throats is an odd thing but I think I know what it's actually there for and HOPE I'm right. the Electronic tabletop and map functions they said we were going to get when 4E launched. If this is the case, the group funtion of the new "forum" will be simply amazing until then it's only pretty cool, and helpful for a few of the ongoing contests on the forums. |
| #61mnemonicsvAug 28, 2009 2:42:45 | Things against the ToS. That much I can guess. As well as anything that would constitute as a "disruption" I imagine. Oh, but as for the double spacing... hold shift while you hit enter for only one line. Still frustrating though. |
| #62BilopTheFleshwarperAug 28, 2009 3:03:13 | Additional: Auto double space after a quote, specially after removing them in the actual reply box. |
| #63BadCatManAug 28, 2009 4:11:40 | There appears to be no consistency to whether or not updated threads are bolded or not. I log in, check a board for the first time, and one thread is bold, another not, yet both were recently updated. I do like the numbers telling you how many new posts there have been in a thread since you last read it, and that clicking on them takes you to the first new one - well, usually, sometimes it goes someplace else. But the big pink box is ugly, and I also miss the ability to choose a page (like the last one) before entering a long thread. I also miss the mouse-over preview of posts. |
| #64calronmoonflowerAug 28, 2009 4:14:15 | We need a better FAQ. vBulleten code doesn't work here anymore and I bet most people don't have much experience with HTML. Also there are features all over that people are asking about and don't know how to use or even if they exist.
In addition that column on the right is sometimes too close. It overlaps with text and squashes pics. |
| #65infiltradoAug 28, 2009 4:36:33 | 1.- From D&D page link to forums (Community/Message Boards) you have to navigate and click a lot to find the forums.
2.- The subforums appear like a continuous text, not line by line. Horrible.
D&D Fundamentals
3.- You can not see the last thread post of each subforum, only the last poster, who cares???
4.- The sidebar with the recent posts is not interesting, because there are a lot of post, so it is improbable that these posts can be useful for anyone.
5.- There is much less space for text than in the previous forums, you have to scroll down a lot to read the posts.
6.- In this reply, I can not see the previous posts!!! |
| #66irenicus_jonAug 28, 2009 5:17:22 | I've been browsing the forums for 30 mins. |
| #67kilpatdsAug 28, 2009 9:02:39 |
Note quite. They made bold work, and the various colors work. I could get by without most of the bcode, except I'd really like more documentation of the style sheet, to make it easier to use nice quote boxes. Also, the "raw html" view strips out white space... so you can't really use that to compose anything in. Just as a paste window. And since I hope to god they are stripping out java script, you can't really do an sblock in HTML. |
| #68Matt_JamesAug 28, 2009 9:03:57 | Give it a couple weeks while they adjust for the influx of users (part of Beta testing). I'm sure we will see things rearranged and changed. |
| #69kilpatdsAug 28, 2009 9:05:29 |
Shift Enter is equivilent to </br>. Hitting enter is equivilent to </ p>. And their default style sheet has a little extra space between paragraphs. |
| #70zombie_babiesAug 28, 2009 9:20:57 | Probably mentioned already, but meh: 1) Recent Topics covers some text. An option to disable it would be nice. 2) Capital letters in screen names are only used on the first name. 3) It would be nice to get the 'view first unread' option back. It made it really easy to keep up with discussions you were involved in. |
| #71willpellAug 28, 2009 9:33:06 | So yeah. This is a beta, so we're supposed to say what we think needs to change. I can make it real easy. There's only one thing you Wotco web techs need to do. Put the old version of the forums back up, and make the current Forums button point there, so we can get into our old accounts with our old subscription lists and our old PM boxes instead of the current empty ones.
.....
On the other hand, if you didn't keep a backup of those forums which you can now restore, then I suggest you commit ritual seppuku immediately rather than wait to see what the community will do to you for trashing all their PMs and subscriptions. |
| #72zombie_babiesAug 28, 2009 10:25:44 | Here's a fun one: I just got a network invite sent to my work email. Well, that's not the email I used for my account and it's not listed anywhere. I'd rather not have that sort of thing pop up in my work stuff, thanks. |
| #73cherubaddonAug 28, 2009 10:29:10 |
!*'?>YXS?`°!!!! I've forgotten about the PMs! Fortunately, I've got most character sheets backed up... I hope... |
| #74maussAug 28, 2009 10:54:07 | How about the ability to add/remove the boxes in your profile. And include a box that contains your subscribed threads. |
| #75drnickAug 28, 2009 11:19:59 | RSS feeds for groups would be nice. |
| #76Sans_SerifAug 28, 2009 11:27:25 | repeating what I said in another thread in this, the main thread:
shortcuts to other forums (Living Forgotten Realms, The Marketplace) like the old boards had. I really like the new design, but making it difficult to get to the LFR boards has me a bit puzzled. |
| #77NifftAug 28, 2009 11:28:51 |
Find the post that I'm attributing to the above author. Ooooooh boy, arguments with snarky people are going to be the opposite of fun. Oh well, -- N |
| #78kilpatdsAug 28, 2009 11:34:05 |
Eh. I don't think that's a huge difference. [ quote=Bob]something bob didn't say[ /quote] always worked. I just don't understand why they are bothering with the "post=" part, since there's no link I can find.
Edit: And not only did I know that quoting was terrible, I knew that in 1970 before the internet was invented and slightly before I was born. I is Smart! |
| #79pamelaAug 28, 2009 11:35:13 | 1) To echo others, please arrange it that the entire page width is visible at 1024 x 768. I'll just end up ignoring the stuff on the side otherwise.
|
| #80maussAug 28, 2009 11:43:11 | Not sure the People search is functioning correctly. I did a partial name search for myself and got one result that was totally unrelated as far as I can tell. |
| #81zombie_babiesAug 28, 2009 12:04:36 | Request: Bring back the li'l check mark that showed what threads you posted in. I post all over the place and can't be expected to remember all of the threads I've commented in. |
| #82pyro_azerAug 28, 2009 12:39:47 | Personally Iwould like to see the sblock come back As a regular to COmost of the handbooks are unreadible now. |
| #83DuskweaverAug 28, 2009 12:43:25 | Bring back the li'l check mark that showed what threads you posted in. This x1000. That little check mark was the single best thing about the old forums. I'm basically never going to get involved in any kind of lengthy, in-depth discussion without such an indicator of which thread I've actually been arguing in. My memory for thread titles and locations sucks. |
| #84atrasAug 28, 2009 13:03:00 | I wouls also like to see the shortcuts to other forums (Living Forgotten Realms, The Marketplace) like the old boards had brought back. Can we get a list of all threads we have posted in on our profile's "Home" page? It would be better than the "X posted in the Y thread" ten times. Just a simple header of "Threads X has posted in" and a link to the threads, sorted on the most recent post. Can the Calendar be linked to the RPGA events? If I have entered a zip code and a default distance to search in my profile, can the calendar do a quick query on the RPGA events that are within the distance parameters, and put those events on the calendar? That could be a huge benefit to people looking for a LFR game. |
| #85maussAug 28, 2009 13:39:36 | I added an image to my signature. And I could make changes to it fine. But when I deleted my sig and just left the box blank, it said it saved the prefs successfully, but had reverted back to what was in it before I cleared it. In other words, once I had put something in my signature, I couldn't change it back to blank. |
| #86maussAug 28, 2009 14:00:20 | How about tags for photos? Kind of sucks looking through page after page with nothing to really navigate by. And as long as we're doing it page by page, can the number of pages available in the pagination be increased. There's 81 pages atm, and you can select 1-6 or 81. And going up pages only gives you the next 2 in the count. So for instance, clicking 6 in the above example adds 7-8 in the list. Just lay em out 1-9, then every 10 after that. |
| #87delugeiaAug 28, 2009 15:00:01 | Suggestion: REMOVE THE EXTRA BR TAG That's what is really causing the massive amounts of white space between the paragraphs. The editor is formatting the HTML correctly, but on display it is adding an extra BR tag after each actual line break in the HTML Code. That means the displayed code is showing up as (substituting parens for angle bracket): (p)Here is my first paragraph of text. But at the end of it the display function is adding an extra line break tag.(br /)(/p) (p)Then my second paragraph effectively has a double space between.(/p) Enjoy! |
| #88GMforPowergamersAug 28, 2009 15:03:27 | can we have sperate lists for sub formes...so we know what is what... |
| #89maussAug 28, 2009 15:38:12 | Friend request isn't working right. I got a request and accepted it. But still shows request pending although there's no requests on that page. Also the person isn't showing up in my list of friends.
-edit- The friend just showed up in my list. Not sure what's going on. |
| #90celloshaneAug 28, 2009 15:53:30 | I just noticed that the Subsections are now each treated as a Forum. This means that all the subsections like D&D HQ and D&D Fundementals can each have threads posted there. This seems counterintuitive, so if the code can't be changed CM will will probably need to lock those subsections. |
| #91Titanium_DragonAug 28, 2009 16:48:43 | Change paragraph spacing from 1.5 lines to .5 lines. Make it so alternating posts have altnerating background colors/color schemes. Allow us to choose some color scheme other than "white and light blue". This is a terrible color scheme, and it looks awful. Alternatively, change the white to off-white for everyone. I'm not talking about the stuff off on the sides, I'm talking about what actually matters - the actual stuff under what we read, as well as the buttons at the bottom of the response page. Separate out the forums to their own lines with their own little description of what the forum is about. Move D&D general back to the top, where it belongs. Hiding it makes it much less user friendly. Yes, people post in the wrong forum all the time. That's not nearly as much of a problem as putting people off because they can't find a place to post at all.
|
| #92forbidenmasterAug 28, 2009 17:09:53 | Less White
|
| #93NifftAug 28, 2009 17:34:32 |
Try the FireFox + Stylish script in my sig. |
| #94Titanium_DragonAug 28, 2009 17:44:00 | Most of us don't use Firefox. And we shouldn't have to write our own scripts in order to provide basic functionality. |
| #95drnickAug 28, 2009 17:58:12 | I'm sure he understands that but if you're interested in fixing the problem instead of just whining about it, that will work for now. The issue with the black on white format has been brought up repeatedly over the last 24 hours so rest assured, WotC knows that forummers think this is an issue. In the meantime, you may want to give an actual fix a try if the site is hurting your eyes that badly. |
| #96NifftAug 28, 2009 18:02:53 |
Well, you should use FireFox, and AdBlock and NoScript and TACO. I mean, that's just basic self-preservation. |
| #97sebbyAug 28, 2009 18:11:28 | Is it just me or the Recent Topics/Most Viewed Topics sidebars are mostly gone? If that is so, then thank you for listening, Wiz. One unrelated suggestion: I hope we won't be allowed to put pics into our sigs. This is just annoying as more than a few people think that their sig is supposed to be their whole personal web page. |
| #98telvin3dAug 28, 2009 18:59:08 | Is it just me or the Recent Topics/Most Viewed Topics sidebars are mostly gone? Well, they are and they aren't. The sidebar seems to be gone in the lower levels of the forum hierarchy, but is still there higher up. But really, I don't think anyone had a problem with the concept of the side bar. What many, many of us objected to was the massive amount of space that it takes up and the pathetically tiny width that it forces the actual forums into. And while the sidebar may be gone, all that has taken its place is more blank white space. When the change the forum to be twice as wide and use that space then we can thank them for listening. |
| #99sebbyAug 28, 2009 19:11:23 | Is it just me or the Recent Topics/Most Viewed Topics sidebars are mostly gone? One thing at a time. The sidebars are gone from where they were the most aggravating, that's what I'm thankful for. There is still a ton of issues (like the forum lacking most of the features of a... well, a forum), but I'll hold on the torch and pitchfork mobbing until I see a clear tendency to do nothing about it. |
| #100SquirrelyManAug 28, 2009 19:57:37 | I'll just add my critiques to this thread in hopes that the size of this thread will attract WotC's attention. 1) White background - This hasn't bothered me as much as it has apparently bothered others, but I'm not a fan of it, so add me to the "Less White" crowd. 2) sblocks - This has been brought up many times by many people, and I'm just adding my vote to get our sblocks back. 3) Previous Posts in Replys - I like being able to refer to what the most recent posts said, and I can't. 4) Page Numbers - I LIKE (yes, this is POSITIVE) that the number of pages in a thread is kept within the thread, not on the board; it keeps things looking clean. 5) Side Bars - The little updates of what's going on would be a LOT better if it stuck with the specific forum . For example, I'd much rather see the latest posts and activities in the D&D Fundamentals sub-forum while on the Character Optimization board as opposed to the current goings-on of the M:tG board. 6) Webpage titles - When I first get on the boards, I usually open a bunch of threads at once in different tabs and then go through them. Also, when I am making a new character, I'll regularly bring up a few different build guides from the CO board. Since the switch, though, all of my tabs are "The Wizards Communi..." I don't know if it's possible to fix this, but I'd appreciate it. 7) Word Processing - I feel like a lot of issues with spacing and formatting could be fixed if we were just given more control over the word processing. I can't imagine that it would be hard to add a few more options to the top of the new thread writing space.
That's all. And I can't emphasize this enough: sblocks. |
| #101lynadianyaAug 28, 2009 20:12:10 | Would it be possible to add a link at the bottom of the page that links back to the forum that you're in. Perhaps I am doing things the hard way. Right now, what I have been doing, is scrolling all the way back to the top of the page (I use a 40 post view - so that's quite a long way) to hit the link to the forum that I am in. If it were also at the bottom of the page, I wouldn't have to hit the scroll bar. If there is an easier way to do this that I am not seeing, please let me know. Hitting the backspace key (or the back button) is useful only when I have only looked at one page of a thread or have not posted in that thread.
|
| #102el_ahrairahAug 28, 2009 20:17:33 | Two suggestions: 1. Icons or pics next to the forum categories, not a huge deal but it was easier to navigate when you knew you wanted a particular forum and you knew it was the one with Yoda's face next to it. 2. A sub-forum for members that have creative output (beyond modding and painting minis), such as D&D, Star Wars, etc. themed artwork, fanfic, and such. I think it would a great addition, and a good in-house alternative to posting on other art sharing sites. ...Plus, WotC can troll the posts for new game artists. ;) |
| #103dougirwin13Aug 28, 2009 20:37:49 | Site admin has royally screwed over my D&D forums experience With the volume of posts on this site I need some way to immediately tell which posts are new. And I need a "mark read" button. And wants... I want things back to sorted oldest first and a "go to newest post" back in thread list. But wants I can live without... For a while anyway. Not happy Jan |
| #104BadCatManAug 28, 2009 21:22:08 | Quote buttons are above each post rather than below, so it's easy to click on the button for the post below the one you wanted. Placing them below would be more logical ("I've done reading this post and wish to repond..."). |
| #105bone_nagaAug 28, 2009 23:57:14 | Even though its been said a hundred times, I'm just going to say it again--how about a theme that doesnt make my eyes explode? Ideally it would be a customizable theme, but I'll take presets too just so long as I can look at the screen for more than 30 seconds at a time.
Moving buttons to the bottom of the quotes.
Is sblocking available under this new system? If not, it needs to be.
I liked the layout of the gleemax where under each forum you could see the sub-forums laid out so each had its own line instead of being all lumped together. Made it easier to find what you were looking for. |
| #106behkatAug 29, 2009 2:07:15 | Bottom navigation links. Seriously, this is like UI 101 stuff... Also, as so many others have said: less white please. It's hard on the eyes. |
| #107PaulonAug 29, 2009 3:00:17 | I suggest separating the Report Post buttons from the quote button. It's irritating to hit the wrong one. I also point out that in most user interfaces a greyed out button means it's disabled. Having every button looking like it's turned off is also annoying. |
| #108orbifoldAug 29, 2009 3:49:43 | Toooooo wiiiiiide. Why do I have to scroll horizontally on a 1024x768 display just to view a forum post? |
| #109PaulonAug 29, 2009 4:04:30 |
More to the point, why doesn't it just do what any normal person would expect and scale to fit the available screen size? I've got a wide monitor, high resolution, and inches of wasted space on each side of their pretty picture. ![]() |
| #110bogsnesAug 29, 2009 4:23:50 | I have mostly one complain: Bring back the ARCHIVES!
seriously... so many good homebrews and handbooks and tons of other stuff is gone... |
| #111metaldragon0Aug 29, 2009 4:25:46 |
I was told they saved the archive and they are bringing it back soon, but I don't know how accurate that is. |
| #112bogsnesAug 29, 2009 4:28:02 | Cool...
Hope they will bring it back soon then...
And then I have an other request... Please make the posts in the archives easier to read as it was very hard earlier because of all the white, etc. |
| #113BadCatManAug 29, 2009 6:29:26 | I miss that when writing a response to a thread we no longer get a copy of all previous posts lower down the page. That was really really really useful to carrying on a proper conversation, to check other's statements when you refer to them. Now one must go back and forth to check. |
| #114xfollowthereaperxAug 29, 2009 7:46:35 | Please get rid of double spaces between paragraphs. It's horrid. I do notice that we can delete our posts. Cool. |
| #115BadCatManAug 29, 2009 8:07:17 | Heh. We can also report our own posts. That's brilliant! :D |
| #116malisteenAug 29, 2009 8:48:47 | Ok, so I got the hang of this 'shift/enter' business, but it still seems like an unnecessary hassle for a questionable benefit. Could 'shift/enter' be this paragraph break thing and 'just enter' be a plain old regular return? Also, I'd like to second the 'fit it to the viewer's screen' bit. now that the extra column is gone on the lower forum levels it looks ok on my regular screen (well, apart from the white, which has already been complained about enough), but I usually view these forums on a television screen, sitting several feet away, and so to read the text I need to zoom in considerably, which with the current configuration results in me needing to scroll back and forth to read text. |
| #117NifftAug 29, 2009 8:54:57 |
Try the Stylish script in my sig. It should make the forum part fit your window. Cheers, -- N |
| #118oldgamer75Aug 29, 2009 10:01:56 |
Perfectly reasonable, but it seems the explosion (a small one!) has begun anyway. I took a brief jog through all the complaints this morning and I don't think I've anything constructive to add at this point. So I'll stay silent. Oh ... I can verify that Nifft's kind suggestion does work. Thank you, young fellow -- I'm much more a hardware person than a software person. |
| #119oldgamer75Aug 29, 2009 10:04:30 |
I shall never report my own posts. Frankly, I am a bad man to cross. |
| #120AvonRekaesAug 29, 2009 11:42:34 | One major request I have:
The boards are missing a tier at the top. For instance, if I'm in Eberron Lore and want to go to Running Eberron, I SHOULD see the following Classic View>Dungeons & Dragons> D&D Worlds> Eberron Lore With the above set-up, I can click on D&D Worlds and then click on Running Eberron. Classic View>Dungeons & Dragons> Eberron Lore With the current set up, I have to click on Dungeons & Dragons, scroll down half a screen to get to D&D Worlds, then either carefully click the link to Running Eberron admist all the other links crammed together, or click on D&D Worlds at the top to bring me to a better organized list of all the D&D World forums. That's entirely too much work.
|
| #121kythriAug 29, 2009 11:44:01 | Dunno if it's been mentioned already, I can't stand reading through this horribly formatted deal to check, so I'll report it (again, if need-be). I want the message editor to stop pre-formatting my posts. I want it to stop inserting linebreaks or paragraph breaks every time I press Enter. I'm smart enough to properly format my own post. Quote formatting is broken and ugly. These all contribute to a post that takes up half a page for maybe 10 lines of text. BIG improvement. Kudos to the web team! Maybe it's part of the overall plan? Frustrate enough people to drive them away? Edited-to-add: Oh, and the sub-forum display listing? It sucks. Too condensed, everything runs together, and red sucks. And there's too much white on the screen to the point that I start to get eye fatigue. I can accept that old themes/visual styles will be updated, but of the new ones, there's far too few, and they're all hideous. |
| #122QubeAug 29, 2009 16:10:18 | I seem to be lacking a how-to (or tutorial) kinda thing for the wiki syntax (and the forum syntax) ... I google how its done on wikipedia and hope the same things apply here. very important: on the wiki, we can't type [W]. (square brackets are used to generate links... and [W] generates a link to a wikipage called W) Also... isn't there any way to restore the previous syntax (and use the same syntax (preferably the old one) over the entire community (forums, wiki, ...) ? I personally prefere [indent][b][i]text[\i][\b][\indent] (reversed slashes as apparently [b] and [i] still work (?) )over :'''''text''''' any day of the weak (not to mention ... I have no clue how to indent twice in the new syntax)
Oh yeah, and the this new forum editor thing needs getting used to (hard enters to generate 2 line endings, soft enters generate one line ending)
oh, and remind the devolopers to re-add the list of imoticons :D (not urgent, but would be fun) |
| #123whitebaronAug 29, 2009 16:21:57 | well, double indents in wikipedia are just that - ::
as for the other stuff, wikipedia has some kind of escape tag that can be used to deal with various tags and quotes and brackets alike - but this seems not to be the case with wotc wiki. |
| #124lokiareAug 29, 2009 17:45:12 | Sorry, was messing with sig...I hate the new forums. |
| #125daigotsurezanAug 29, 2009 18:19:51 | Give me the option to browse the forums using the old interface. I do not want any of the other things you have here. Also, go back to soft returns instead of paragraph breaks. |
| #126Titanium_DragonAug 29, 2009 20:04:25 |
Well, you should use FireFox, and AdBlock and NoScript and TACO. I mean, that's just basic self-preservation. You don't need random crap to prevent malicious code from acting on your machine and, moreover, blocking ads on websites is highly unethical. (And actually, as of July, 47.9% of web surfers do use FireFox, according to this report. That's almost half the market, and significantly more than those who use IE.) From the website you linked: W3Schools is a website for people with an interest for web technologies. These people are more interested in using alternative browsers than the average user. The average user tends to use Internet Explorer, since it comes preinstalled with Windows. Most do not seek out other browsers. If by "almost half" you mean "precious few". |
| #127kaizer_ryuAug 29, 2009 20:07:43 | A few have been said often and need repeating, but others are not being said enough. Bring. Back. Smilies! Not those horrid AIM ripoffs we have now, the ones on the old boards that were among the best and most useful/versatile I've yet seen. Please, for the love of all that is holy, tell me the ones there now are just beta place fillers that will be killed with fire as soon as the devs get to it. The Enter Key -> new paragraph thing needs to die too. Hitting enter twice to get a new paragraph is a simple thing that we have to do in any other program I know of, so it's a habit that is not something that needs to be "helped" with automatic line breaks. I'll just hit it again when I want to, thank you very much. vbbcode. Bring it back. We know it. We like it. It worked. [sblock] was a godsend. Why did it need to be replaced with easily hackable HTML code? I don't know HTML code, and I'm pretty sure I have lots of company. vbbcode was simple to learn and use. At very least, why not make both available? Please? The post options (edit/quote/etc) need to go back down on the bottom. Seriously. Right now. That is beyond aggrivating. Drop the coding for fixed window size. SOON. Having the window size to my monitor instead of the other way around works much better. LESS WHITE. The basic paper look with gold/yellow/tan colors was very easy on the eyes. Once Gleemax hit, I waved my torch and pitchfork at that godawful colorscheme and switched it back to the "classic" view just as soon as I learned how. At least that had a black background. This one just hurts. The Preferences link is very missable. I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't find it for an hour. Overall, as a PbPer, I have to concede that the group/wiki functions show a lot of promise in streamlining the process. I find the calendar of very limited use right now, but maybe I'll think of something as it comes along. Being able to post maps/pictures/etc will also help as a DM. THAT SAID. I do not and will not concede that turning this into a social networking site with forums as the redheaded step-child is or ever will be a good idea. I know how marketing works. Someone said "this is the 'in' thing right now. All the kids love it." Sadly, the "in" thing is often considered garish and unnecessary to those who do not worry about being "cool" (see: typical RPGer. Being this and getting respect from "cool" people is not gonna happen). Adding community aspects (like the groups/wikis, or the ability to post maps and whatnot for games within the site) to the established forums is fine, often very useful and helpful. Taking the forums and making them the subset of a myspace/facebook competitor is none of these. |
| #128lynadianyaAug 29, 2009 20:10:59 | New Request...Please correct me if I just am not seeing it. I used to be able to click view previous - view next thread. I don't see that anywhere now. Every time I want to go to another thread I have to scroll all the way back up to the top and click the forum link for the one I'm in and then go to the next thread. So far, the only thing I do like about this new forum is the hot pink number after the thread name to tell me how many new posts to that thread since the last time I viewed it. That's it. It's the only feature I really really like. Please put the navigation buttons at the bottom of the page as well as the top. I swear my right ring finger can't take the mouse wheel any more (and yes, before someone complains to me about using the scroll bars, that's what I have to use because my finger can't take the mouse wheel any more). |
| #129lokiareAug 29, 2009 20:18:39 |
What if I made a forum site that simply parsed these forums into a more acceptable format. I wonder how many people would use it? |
| #130AlterFromAug 29, 2009 21:27:35 | Please add a listing of what html is and/or is not allowed in our signatures. Or heck, the forums in general. |
| #131lady_ishtarAug 29, 2009 21:52:50 | I would like to see Date Joined and Location brought back next to the poster's avatar. Not a deal breaker, but i like seeing when someone joind the forums or where they are from without having to click all over the place. and bring back the old emoticons. |
| #132lokiareAug 29, 2009 21:59:23 |
No takers? If I can get enough people to work with me on this I just might do it, then WotC can steal all of our formatting ideas and make the forum worth using again. |
| #133lynadianyaAug 29, 2009 22:21:52 |
Well, I would say that would be wonderful. But there are inherent problems. I would still have to come here to post and that leads into what my biggest issue with the new "social networking" aspect of the site is ..that content will be spread over so many different groups and wikis and blogs, instead of being in the forums, that I will be forced to check multiple places to get the information I used to get just from the forums. This of course leads to the fact that there is a whole lot that I will miss out on, since I won't be going to groups, wikis and blogs for information. Although I am absolutely sure you can make a better site than this, if I wanted to participate in the fourms, I would still have to come back here to do so. It unfortunately only solves the problems for people who read the forums..not for people who post. Unless you can find a way for your site to interact with this one. Actually, come to think of it, since this forum came up I've been looking for a new one. ENWorld is great, but isn't (understandably) D&D focused. I wish I could find a forum that was well traffic-ed, easy to use, simple in it's delivery and focused on 4ed. I don't think I will ever find that again. |
| #134bogsnesAug 30, 2009 3:16:27 | "Thou shall not lose caster levels." "And thou shall never report your own posts either." :D |
| #135spaceLemAug 30, 2009 7:30:59 | As a non-US poster, I would like an option to be able to set the date to day/month/year. For example, 1 May 2009 should be 1/5/09, but it appears as 5/1/09, which looks like 5 Jan 2009. I also can't find where to change my timezone, and all the times are 5 or 6 hours out. |
| #136NifftAug 30, 2009 7:36:25 | Well, you should use FireFox, and AdBlock and NoScript and TACO. I mean, that's just basic self-preservation. Oh lawdy. |
| #137RUMPLESTIXAug 30, 2009 9:59:04 | I don't know if this has been mentioned by anyone else but I think I have found an odd glitch. I received an invitation to join the d20 modern group and accepted yesterday. Now, if I go to my "home" page, the d20 modern is listed under my groups. However, it is not listed under my groups when I view my "profile" page. The two pages have a different list for the groups I belong to. This also makes me wonder if such a bug is limited to only this or if it may occur in other pages where things are matched and such. There is another completely minor annoyance. Once the red highlighting comes up to show new posts in a thread that has previously been viewed it completely wipes out the "author" whose name is also listed in the same color to denote it as a link. The name can be read if highlighted using one's mouse but it is still annoying and should probably be fixed. |
| #138LivingShadowAug 30, 2009 11:25:33 | If anyone is interested I was able to salvage around 90% of the old emotes. Should I post them up in the photos section so everyone can hard link to them? |
| #139RUMPLESTIXAug 30, 2009 11:47:51 |
Yes! Did this work with those that "move"? |
| #140LivingShadowAug 30, 2009 11:54:48 | When I said 90% I meant 90%. That includes the moving ones. Unfortunately, I'm still missing a few but I think 106 isn't bad. I'll put them up shortly. Edit:done
And that's all of the ones I could find. |
| #141spaceLemAug 30, 2009 13:15:14 |
That was hideous! |
| #142DuskweaverAug 30, 2009 13:23:39 | Oh lawdy. The single best thing about the internet, IMO, is that it reminds me daily that there are people out there whose world-view is radically different from mine (or from that of anyone I've ever met in the real world). ![]() |
| #143shadowsofwhiteAug 30, 2009 14:26:50 | Bug issue: On several occasions, I have had the text and option bars within the forums starting on the normal place of the screen, yet continuing off the right side of my monitor, which is bothersome, due to that I have a wide screen monitor and it gave no option of side scrolling. Maybe this is an issue that can be fixed. If it can, I thank you very much. |
| #144LivingShadowAug 30, 2009 15:12:25 |
I wasn't going for it to look good, it was just a list.

| #145Kord%E2%80%99s_BoonAug 30, 2009 15:23:26 | My apostrophe has gone all hyphen-y! So my profile display name was “Kord’s Boon” prior to the transfer, now Its gone all non-possessive. Whom can I talk to in hopes of getting this corrected, I'd like to avoid restarting an account, but it just looks terrible. Perhaps I should have know better then to put a apostrophe in my name. |
| #146whitebaronAug 30, 2009 15:23:44 | there seems to be a big bad caching or delaying mess to be going on here. 1) you can have posts without views but replies, also, i still get no group update messages in my home - i need to check them manually if there is a forums-change or not. on the upside: the url-bbcode works now. |
| #147maussAug 30, 2009 15:38:27 | Fix load times for main pages. Individual threads seem to be ok, but going to the Forum index or Home index takes too long. |
| #148MockAug 30, 2009 15:41:46 |
There seems to be some sort of more widespread weirdness - the time signatures on the various forums have only a tenuous relationship to reality (as far as I can tell): you'll get last posts times linked to the wrong people, last post times that get shorter instead of longer - I don't know how they determine that (and I've noticed it's gotten better), but it looks like the database isn't always sure when something happened. |
| #149calronmoonflowerAug 30, 2009 16:13:48 | It would be nice of the vBulletin URL commands worked in signatures. [edit] Also the search button at the top of the pages is non functionsal. |
| #150lokiareAug 30, 2009 20:35:43 |
I see you don't really understand what I mean. I'm talking about using something called innerHTML tags and javascript to take the forums...er...community site and reformatting them so that everything is where we want it. It would be like reskinning it. You would not have to come to the actual site to post, because the actual site would be parsed into the site I created. |
| #151lynadianyaAug 30, 2009 21:36:32 | Ahh..you're correct, I didn't quite understand you. And yes, that does sound really great. My Significant Other is a database programmer and about 2 seconds into any discussion of how his day is I am completely lost. I'm a Network Engineer and about 2 seconds into any discussion about my day he's lost. I have had my head in hardware since the days of Basic and the only thing I did in Basic was copy (and then massively debug) a character creator program that came in Dragon Magazine. So I know not of this web programming thing of which you speak. I hope there is more interest in it than just me. |
| #152dalzigAug 30, 2009 21:55:50 |
Wouldn't it be a bit easier to just make a new CSS for this website and inject it while browsing? |
| #153LFKAug 30, 2009 22:04:10 | The "remember me" check box apparently doesn't work, and the login timeout is depressingly short. And I would like a low-bandwidth theme for Mobile. |
| #154daidojitaidoruAug 30, 2009 23:46:52 | All right, my eyes hurt too much to bother trying to read all the way through this thread. In addition to all the myriad other problems I've noticed, the Wizards account has been added as my friend. So I have a freind activity box that shows every member that joins and a whole slew of other useless info. I personally would like the feature erased, but assuming someone did want it I imagine they'd want to see their actual friends activities and not the mountain of white noise caused by the Wizards account running the forums. |
| #155MockAug 30, 2009 23:57:51 | You can delete Wizards as a friend. |
| #156daidojitaidoruAug 31, 2009 0:21:19 |
Hm... It said there was an error when I tried it, but since my friend list is empty I guess it worked anyway. Well so long as it's gone... |
| #157DuskweaverAug 31, 2009 1:44:56 | The "remember me" check box apparently doesn't work, and the login timeout is depressingly short This may be an issue with your browser/cookie settings. I only had to log in once after the move to set up my account under the new system and it's kept me logged in since. One bug I've encountered is that I apparently can't enter my real postcode (that's what we Brits call a zipcode). I entered it correctly when I set up my account, but it's defaulted to '0' and I get an error when I try to save any changes to it. I suspect the system may only be set up to accept US-style zipcodes, but this needs fixing for the 'find gamers near me' function to actually be of any use to most of the world. There are few things more guaranteed to piss off a company's international customers than this sort of thoughtless US-centrism. EDIT: That's odd. It works today. Either WotC fixed the bug since yesterday, or it was just some temporary glitch that was preventing me from saving changes to my profile and nothing to do with the zipcode field. |
| #158BelorinAug 31, 2009 5:07:58 | Well, I found out by accident that if you click on the last reply's poster's name it takes you to the newest post, even if you have not visited that thread previously.

| #159kilpatdsAug 31, 2009 8:50:55 | Feature Request: Fix the code Wiki marker to not mangle Character Builder summaries. Better yet: Get it to propery highlight them. But I'd be happier to start with if it just actually acted like it's supposed to, and left them properly formatted. That it's attempting to apply wiki text in the middle of a code block is rather ... poor. |
| #160LunarSavageAug 31, 2009 10:15:34 | I've got a feature request...well, 2 actually.
1. Maybe I'm overlooking it, but I don't see an option that allows the user to see all the topics he/she has created, or an option to see their posting history to see which topics they've posted in. Would be a nice thing to have IMO. I bounce around to different forums a lot and can't always remember where or what I last posted to. 2. Background color options please. This white is DESTROYING MY EYES. |
| #161whitebaronAug 31, 2009 10:19:54 |
click on they guy on the left of your username. search for all your own posts. -> done. |
| #162LunarSavageAug 31, 2009 10:27:43 |
Oh...sweet! |
| #163victimoffunAug 31, 2009 12:01:30 | Fix Request: Please allow users to separate their Forum/Community/"facebook-myspace" account from their D&DI account. It should be an option not a mandate. |
| #164Cpt_MichaAug 31, 2009 12:32:45 | I know it's been said.
Sblocks, and Emotes. Oh, and bring it back so that I can actually read posts in the thread as I'm writing a post.
And the Quote system is terrible and pretty much non functioning now in comparison to what it used to be.
Something other than Snow White for background would be nice too. Working HTML and URLs for Sigs. |
| #165lokiareAug 31, 2009 13:35:04 |
That's cool. I hope to one day find a significant other that likes computers, instead of these models that keep wanting to date me. Well if I had the time, I'd start on it now, but I don't so if this place is still this bad when I graduate, I'll work on it then.
A new CSS would help with the formatting, things like the white background and the size of text, heck you might even get rid of some of the spacing, but it wouldn't solve problems like trying to find the newest post in a subscribed thread, or viewing the most recent threads by mousing over their titles and other features that pretty much everyone want back.
Better yet allow us to post characters in our profile. Then pull up everything in a formatted page that looks just like a character sheet.
There is an option to see all the topics that you subscribed to, however it takes about 10 steps which I posted in another thread I can't find because I'm too lazy to find them. Do a search for my name and you will probably find them. I'd like the subscription history to show the latest threads I'm subscribed to that have been posted in since my last viewing. Just like they do in the category view with the number that tells me how many posts since I last posted. I'm not holding my breath though that would require quite a few lines of code to accomplish. |
| #166lokiareAug 31, 2009 13:43:12 |
You know that just brings up posts right? That means I have to wade through 400+ posts that may be in the same thread. Cmon' WotC you can do better than this.
They did this so that people won't have multiple accounts, which means less space wasted. They also plan on doing things like have playtests and other things done in the DDI group which can't be accessed by non-DDI community members. I suggest you just ignore the features you don't want to use. That's what I'm doing. Hey I got a question? Can I add you to my friend list and get you to read my blog? Oh wait you said you don't like that stuff...
I like the quote system. Multi-quote actually works. Quotes have embedded quotes that work correctly so I can see what the person I'm quoting was quoting which annoyed me to no end in the last forum. Now I agree on the read the posts as you reply part. I think they need to have a scrolling textbox where you can select the text you want to quote and you can hit a 'quote selected text' button and it will put the selected text into your reply with the proper quote and poster info. |
| #167ShiftkittyAug 31, 2009 14:06:06 | Don't know if this has been addressed or not:
2) I saw a thread that was showing 45 replies but 0 views. Just thought I'd mention that. How does this site know if we are typing with our eyes closed? ;) |
| #168victimoffunAug 31, 2009 14:09:16 |
If you follow along on this thread: community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758... you'll find that your community account is apparently tied in with onesite.com EDIT: Must have bumped something and posted too early... Its fine that they want to use the community site for community functions but as a D&DI subscriber there is already a way to give me exclusive content via the main site. It should be an option to tie your D&DI account with your community account. Especially since your community account is tied in with a third party website. Your D&DI account has a credit card and billing information on file. |
| #169TheLoneClericAug 31, 2009 14:10:41 | Most sites just auto-adjust to the settings of the moniter and horizontal adjustment doesn't have to be made. Please make this site 1024 or less friendly. Also, please do something about all this annoying white. |
| #170lokiareAug 31, 2009 16:11:14 |
If its any consolation I'm sure they keep the financial data separate. |
| #171lokiareAug 31, 2009 16:15:00 |
So your saying you want the site to be less friendly? I want it to be more friendly. How about using "size=100%" or less instead of "size=1224" |
| #172MockAug 31, 2009 16:24:24 | He meant "1024-or-less" friendly. As for size, the background images are (as far as I can tell) 1224 px wide for all the themes, and it is my assumption that's what dictates the site width; so size=100% aren't gonna do it (or at least, not without screwing up the pretty pictures :D). |
| #173StuntmanAug 31, 2009 16:40:27 | I'm having a problem when posting. I get only a 2-line x 20 character frame in which to type my post. It started this morning. I can enter a post, but it is difficult to see what I typed. It's especially hard to quote anyone, too as I can only see about 40 characters at at time. Also, I get none of the controls like smilies or font controls. |
| #174morandir62Aug 31, 2009 18:09:32 | Profile Privacy Setting: Favorites Privacy: Won't allow me to change the default. Additionally, I do not want City, State, or Zip to be viewable by anyone. |

Actually images can be resized the same way "width=100%" or something like that. |
| #176QubeSep 01, 2009 6:05:55 | 2. Background color options please. This white is DESTROYING MY EYES. maybe put your gamma-rating and brightness of your screen below 250%... ![]() |
| #177MockSep 01, 2009 6:35:45 |
Good point. But if it's only width (since height is going to depend on thread length), would it not distort the image (meaning they'd still have to have an image capable of scaling properly)? I don't do much CSS layout work, so I'm not sure. |
| #178drnickSep 01, 2009 12:25:03 | Yeah, you get distortion. But the pretty background pictures should be secondary to usability. Even in a marketing context. |
| #179CoarseDragonSep 01, 2009 14:44:17 | Sorry if this has been mentioned but I would like to see subscriptions accessible as a link from "Home". |
| #180NifftSep 01, 2009 17:11:39 |
They could also break the background up into TWO images, and anchor one to the upper-left corner and the other to the upper-right corner. Then everything would look nice, but it would actually work on different resolutions. This is web design, not rocket science. Cheers, -- N |

| #183mynameisjakeSep 01, 2009 21:46:39 | I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but......dear God please fix the search function! We used to be able to search for threads by user names. I could search for my own username and tell whether any replies had been posted to keep up with ongoing discussions. Now all I get are posts that have quoted me. And having previous posts not be visible when replying is just terrible! |
| #184dmsdelightSep 02, 2009 0:48:54 | I have a problem with the boards, as of right now. And it's not what most people are complaining of. I can deal with the weird overblown size. I can even deal with no sblock and the all white radiant blinding effect it has. After all, it's a new switch, so there's bound to be a few bugs. What I can't deal with is, when I make a group, I can't even access the group. I made the group "PbPHouse", for the website I'm always on that plays a decent amount of PbP games involving 4e. But every time I go to click on it, I either get, "The service network has not been properly setup. Please contact the administrator", or it takes me to the forum homepage. However, I can't get to customer service because all of their links don't work for me for some reason. That's just...irritating. If someone knows how to fix this...please let me know. |
| #185calronmoonflowerSep 02, 2009 1:11:50 | @ Dmsdelight, try this thread: Trouble Accessing our Help System Post here |
| #186DuskweaverSep 02, 2009 2:11:52 | OK, after some experimentation, it seems that forum themes take precedence over how we actually format our own posts. That means nobody can know how their post will actually look to anyone using a different theme to them, so using formatting to make a post clearer (such as making a homebrewed power actually look like a power, with correctly-coloured title bar etc.) is an entirely wasted effort. Example: while posting some powers in the 'Chaos Champion' thread in '4e Multiclassing', the titles of the daily powers were dark grey (i.e. the proper daily power colour) in the 'post reply' page (which is supposed to be WYSIWYG), but were showing up as red in the actual thread page for those using the D&D theme and blue for those using the WotC default theme. Only in the MtG theme did the titles actually show up as grey. Themes should not be altering the content and formatting of our posts depending on who is reading them! The only exception should be that, if a dark-background theme is eventually introduced, the default text colour should obviously change from black to white for that theme. Also, there needs to be a way of setting font size without having to use the drop-down styles box (which seems to be what gets altered by the theme setting). Other than having to edit raw HTML, I mean. This really should be obvious, but not all of us know HTML, and even those of us that do would prefer a user-friendly UI that actually works the way it's intended to. |
| #187RUMPLESTIXSep 02, 2009 7:56:02 | Bug: links don't show up as links on profile edit page... The profile edit page has the following button choices (with capitalization): basic information, about me, dungeons and dragons, magic: the gathering, axis and allies, and star wars. In most systems when the mouse cursor is over nothing you get an arrow of sorts, when over text you get an "I" shaped cursor, and when over links you get a hand. When moving over the different "buttons" listed above on the edit profile page you get the "I" shaped cursor rather than a hand. I first moved the cursor over one with intent of choosing a different category but thought the function was not enabled when I received the "I" cursor rather than a hand. However, I later tried to access it any way and it worked. When I have previously visited sites that were "under construction" there were often links that were not yet enabled. They would be a different color (not appearing as a hyperlink, usually black like the ones on the edit profile page) and would not work. Despite working, the ones on te edit profile page (at least on mine) give the appearance of not being enabled. |
| #188drnickSep 02, 2009 10:56:24 | That can happen when you use the onclick property to create a clickable object that isn't actually an anchor. |
| #189RUMPLESTIXSep 02, 2009 11:22:05 |
ROFLMAO! Sorry, when I first looked at this quote, the font made the "c" and the "l" of "onclick" and "clickable" run together and look like one letter, a "d". That made the sentence read very...odd. |

| #202zombie_babiesSep 04, 2009 8:41:32 | Not sure if others have experienced this or if it's just something I'm doing, but it seems that the Multi Quote function has some trouble when you're quoting posts from multiple pages. Twice I have attempted to quote at least one post from one page and at least one more from the next. When I finally click Reply, only the quote(s) from the last page are listed. I'm not certain whether going back to the page with the first quoted posts and clicking Reply there would fix this or not, though. Still, seems like a bug to me. I also ran into an issue when trying to paste info into one of my posts. The first went through a-ok. I then went to another tab I had open to quote a url I wanted to include in the same post. When I returned to my post and tried to paste, it simply didn't work. I tried twice to make sure it wasn't just me screwing up the copy or something and the problem happened again. I then posted my post, used the Edit function and the Paste worked fine. Kind of annoying to need that li'l bit of extra work. |
| #203celloshaneSep 04, 2009 9:27:40 | As long as we're tossing out requests I might as well add this one. I'd like the ability to Fork threads the way you can on the ENWorld forums. Too often we see two or more individuals discussing a tangent and moving a thread completely off-topic. While forking doesn't eliminate the problem entirely, it does help the situation quite a bit. |
| #204BelorinSep 04, 2009 10:42:57 | Nice to see a light gray background for the post box, much easier on the eyes, but I still miss the old parchment background. However I can be patient.

| #205lokiareSep 04, 2009 11:15:35 |
The BBCode thing is because they switched from BBCode to maimed HTML. Most of the rest of the problems is because they took the default package and just threw it up without thinking. |
| #206lokiareSep 04, 2009 11:18:11 | How about the ability to set a default font and color? That way we don't have to change it manually each time we post. |
| #207melloredSep 04, 2009 11:20:50 | Way to much white space. We don't need to double space by default. |
| #208LunarSavageSep 04, 2009 16:04:16 | This is somewhat better. I'm less irritated and maybe I won't go blind now from trying to read. |
| #209drnickSep 04, 2009 18:09:53 | I know it hurts your eyes or whatever but you aren't going to go blind. At worst you'll get some eye fatigue after about thirty minutes. Or were you making a joke? I would suggest turning your brightness down a little and turning on a lamp in your room. Ambient light will help the situation. |
| #210calronmoonflowerSep 04, 2009 18:38:42 | Wiki Bug: Tab spacing breaks the wiki code. That is all text after a tab space is left with the wiki code untranslated like the nowiki tag is supposed to do. Feature Request: It would be nice to get the wiki links to work on the forums. Like [article_name] rather than having to type out the full url. |
| #211lokiareSep 04, 2009 23:14:06 | I've noticed when you rate anything (clicking on the stars) the max value is 3.7 instead of 5. What this might mean is that there are values for half stars or quarter stars but when you click you only get the first 5 values with the max being 3.7. So that's a bug. Feature request. I'd like the ability to annonymously rate someone based on multiple criteria (using the star system).
This would allow other people to immediately see based on the number of people that rates someone what that person is generally like. (with one rating per person). |
| #212kratchSep 05, 2009 2:05:10 |
The links do work provided a proper naming convention is used. for a link , use two square brackets. With a single bracket you were likely getting a link that was a number, or a link that contained everything after the first space linking to a page named everything before the first space. Do note however, colon's ( My additions are after the image... Wiki help Not sure if it will help, but you can attain a tablike workaround with a single colon ( |
| #213Shemeska_the_MarauderSep 05, 2009 12:23:08 | I'm not reading through this entire thread, so pardon if I duplicate already known bugs. 1) Whenever I get an email telling me about a new post to a thread I've asked for notification on, I have to open the link twice, because the first time I click on it, it just opens to the front page of the forums, with zero connection to the actual thread or post it was supposed to be opening to. 2) When I open it a second time, it goes to the proper thread, but just dumps me onto the first page of the thread, not the newest post and I have to then find the new one manually. 3) Text still doesn't fit into the proper boxes. For instance the "Submit Post" and "Preview Post" text don't fit into their respective buttons, and they're getting cut off. |
| #214calronmoonflowerSep 06, 2009 0:53:57 | The posts have gone all white again. |
| #215shriekingdrakeSep 06, 2009 21:34:42 |
I have several other observations. I suspect that some of these may have been made by others, but I'm putting them down here for the powers that be in case I have anything unique. First, I would welcome having, as on the old boards, to ability to mouse over the thread title to see a few hundred words of the first post. Second, I would like to choose for myself whether or not I'll get an update of the number of posts on any given thread I've viewed before. I like the concept of the little pink boxes, but I'd prefer to elect which posts I'd like to keep up on. Third, I would like the threads in the forums to give me the opportunity to go directly to the page I'd choose, rather than having to go to the first page first. Fourth, I would like an easier way from the home page to go to my posts or my favorites, or the forums that interest me. It just ends up being a lot of clicks and I don't care for most of the "junk" that comes up on the first page. Fifth, I would recommend creating an option for, say, me to post a page, but that it would be kept private until I was ready to unvail it. That is, I could still work on it, see how it will look and then release it publicly when I'm ready. Often, I find on longer posts that I can get interrupted by my leife and end up having to ditch what I've done because I'm not yet ready to publish what I've written. Sixth, I would really love to get my old subscriptions and private messages back (I know I've mentioned this before). Seventh, it would be delightful if I did not have to scroll left and right to see/read material on the screen. Many webpages are sensitive to the screen settings; it would be great if we could get the new website to be more responsive to individual user settings about the screen. Eighth, I miss the ability to print or easily link to an individual post. Ninth, the prinint is just dreadful. It comes out so tiny--largely because of all the white space on the pages now, that it makes printing almost useless. While I realize that it's a wireless world, I'd still like to be able to print and use paper. Tenth, I'd love to be able to select more posts/threads per page. I know we can select up to 40 posts at the moment. That's OK. But I'd welcome being able to set the threads and posts higher. Eleventh, consider the ability to add sub-queries to the results of a search query. For instance. Moreover, a solid advanced search page would be great. Twelfth, one feature I miss is the ability to see prior posts as I'm replying to a thread or editing my own post. On the old page, I could scroll down below the data entry box to see prior posts in reverse order, which I found very useful. Thirteenth, the paragraph breaks and line separations are too large. While the pages certainly don't need to be cramped, I'd go back to similar spacing as was on the previous boards. Now there is too much real estate taken up with needless separation of text. I know there are a lot of comments here, I'm sure I'll think of more. I do appreciate the efforts being made to address concerns and hope that the board will be much improved in the end. While they have a long way to go to be user friendly, I do see progress. Thanks. --ShriekingDrake |

| #217sianSep 07, 2009 5:00:40 | please fix the frontpage redirection so it doesn't do that when I click on an email notification, preferrably NEVER. |
| #218BadCatManSep 07, 2009 5:26:29 | The ghosts of relocated and merged threads are appearing in the very final pages of each forum (well, the Forgotten Realms boards, anyway). They have zero posts in them, though they aren't locked and can be posted to. The real versions can be found in their proper places. |
| #219Seeker95Sep 07, 2009 21:19:34 | Feature Request: Default quoted text to an sblock. Scrolling through 50 lines or more of repeat quoted text just to get to an "I agree" response is the most extreme example of the frustration the current quoting habits of many members present. Throw in the current line spacing quirk and I find myself scrolling for more time than it takes to read the reply. |
| #220Seeker95Sep 07, 2009 21:36:48 | Feature Request: Hide Blocked Members Post Display Although we can block other members, all this does is substitute their post for a big red text notification that their content is blocked. Is there any way we could have the block result in not even seeing that they posted in the first place? Hiding signatures effectively removed all reference to a signature. Blocking a member could operate the same way. ('Cause face it. Most of us get frustrated just knowing the poster we are trying to ignore posted right before or right after us. Of course, that's our problem, not theirs.) |

It was a joke. But I see that they got rid of the off-color white background. My eyes hurt again. Why the Hell did they remove it? I'm sick of the 'sterile' feel of these damn forums. :/ |
| #224behkatSep 09, 2009 2:07:31 | Some form of forum hierarchy navigation at the bottom of the page so we don't have to scroll back to the top to navigate the forum hierarchy. It can be a duplicate of the hierarchy links at the top of the page or a drop-down menu or whatever else you can think of that would provide that functionality, but please, something. |
| #225Tony_VargasSep 10, 2009 14:19:18 | I've noticed when you rate anything (clicking on the stars) the max value is 3.7 instead of 5. What this might mean is that there are values for half stars or quarter stars but when you click you only get the first 5 values with the max being 3.7. So that's a bug. I was about to start a thread complaining about this, but I'd thought I'd do a search first. (Hey, at least search works!) I was wondering how my blog entry could have a 3.7 with only one rating, and why it didn't change after two more ratings. I guess they were all trying to give me fives. |
| #226mudbunnySep 10, 2009 14:29:57 | This was ecplained by one of the devs in one of the first days. To avoid one person being able to rate a blog as a 1 or a 5 right off the bat, they are given an initial score of 3 (as opposed to no score). Thus, that score of 3 is included in all further averages. Thus, only blogs that are truly horrid or great will end up at the extremes. |
| #227AlphastreamSep 10, 2009 16:13:52 | It would be ideal for the standard mailboxes, such as Sent and Trash, to be visible when you click on Inbox. Instead, you have to do something else to then see them (in half-hidden font color) in the lower-right, much lower than messages. Actually, I now see them when clicking on inbox (perhaps a recent change?) but still in the bad font color (red on gray). Still need fixes to permissions for forums and calendars on groups. Yahoo groups are still a better option. Making a poll is somewhat confusing. We need features to be explained, or a link to some help document. Polls are hidden away under Blog. I thought I would need HTML view in a blog to add the poll, but it actually only worked in the display view. The double-clicking is unneccessary. When we click on any one section (Messages, etc.) it should go ahead and take us to the main page for that section, instead of requiring a second click.

How much of a bias are we talking? will it take 100 5 star ratings to move it to 5 stars or would it take 1000? Really they shouldn't have messed with it. Even if one rating got something featured, as soon as people started seeing it, they could rate it as bad which would drop it down pretty quick. |
| #229calronmoonflowerSep 11, 2009 2:35:11 | Some form of forum hierarchy navigation at the bottom of the page so we don't have to scroll back to the top to navigate the forum hierarchy. It can be a duplicate of the hierarchy links at the top of the page or a drop-down menu or whatever else you can think of that would provide that functionality, but please, something. I can right click the bar on the right and slect "top" from the options. So depending ob your brower it might not be a problem. |
| #230marius4Sep 14, 2009 4:03:07 | Errr....is there a checklist somewhere (besides the 23 pages of this thread) of issues raised and addressed?? The biggest complaint for me is the automatic double spacing when you hit enter in a post. It's
infuriating
imho. |
| #231lokiareSep 14, 2009 16:06:35 |
There was but it got locked for having more than 1,000 posts in 24 hours... |
| #232AlphastreamSep 14, 2009 16:41:06 | So, is anyone from WotC monitoring this thread, or is this just a rant thread? |
| #233kratchSep 14, 2009 17:23:04 | Well, there have been some posts by the VCL's in this thread (just 6 posts above yours), so there is at least some eyes on it. Not sure how influential the VCL's are, but I suspect they have a means of channeling the feedback to someone if the devs aren't lurking themselves (which I know they are.). |
| #234shriekingdrakeSep 14, 2009 18:46:15 | I know that I would welcome some more responsiveness from WotC. I know that they must be as frustrated as we are, but as so many of us have invested so much in their games and boards, I would love to see some more transparency. it's just good business. I'm happy to continue to bear love with the construction, but I would appreciate a shout back every now and then. |
| #235lokiareSep 14, 2009 22:38:24 |
I'd be happy with a list of bugs submitted and a list of bugs fixed. There might even be one somewhere, but I can't find it. That way we can see for instance why the white background hasn't gone away. |
| #236ogrehooperSep 14, 2009 22:46:46 | I don't think most individuals have any problem with a white background. Sounds like a problem on the user side for some, perhaps old or faulty monitors or systems. |
| #237lokiareSep 15, 2009 7:43:53 |
Nope, its a visual problem. White on black hurts the eyes. After a few minutes you just don't want to look at the screen. Has something to do with the brain not being able to see both spectrums at the same time, and having to switch back and forth. |
| #238ogrehooperSep 15, 2009 10:18:40 | Oh, its a visual problem? Then maybe I should go get my eyes checked out for them inventing this gray background - not white. Working fine for me, sounds like your problem. |
| #239AlphastreamSep 15, 2009 10:20:02 | I've been having trouble with search. If I search a forum, I see a hit for the post I want. If I open that link, it will take me to a page other than the one containing that found post. So, I have to note the date, open the link, then use the page numbers to guess at the one that will have the date range for the post I want. |
| #240lokiareSep 15, 2009 15:01:39 |
I never said you didn't have grey. I said I don't have grey. Are you using IE or Firefox or maybe even Chrome? |
| #241drnickSep 15, 2009 18:23:44 | Yeah there's something wrong on your end. Are you sure you're not running a proxy? Maybe a custom style sheet? A proxy might be cacheing pages. A custom style sheet might be overriding the changes. |
| #242DreamstryderSep 15, 2009 18:51:49 | How do I access my newly subscribed threads? I haven't found the feature anywhere. |
| #243Arawn76Sep 15, 2009 19:44:22 | There appears to be a problem with the blogs, clicking on the title brings up "Sorry, there was a problem. No blog posts were found which match the given criteria."
However I can edit it through the manage blog option or view if I click the blog posts header. This is no good however since I really don't need to read my own blogs but prefer others to be able to view without faffing around, |
| #244kratchSep 15, 2009 19:48:31 |
Subscribed threads are found in the preferences (link in top left corner) |
| #245lokiareSep 16, 2009 14:03:54 |
...but their just about useless because they don't show when new posts were made or that new posts have been made or anything really, except the title of the thread. |
| #246ogrehooperSep 16, 2009 17:50:41 | They are showing me when new posts are posted in a subscribed thread. |
| #247Seeker95Sep 16, 2009 19:25:03 | Despite having my preferences set to hide signatures, they are, as of today, showing up. I have tried setting it to show sigs, and then chang eit back to hiding sigs, but no luck. Ironically, it even shows the sighs of folks I have blocked. That gets really annoying when the blocked member posts every other post in almost any thread, usually with lines of whine (which is why I blocked that person in the first place!) |
| #248trappedsliderSep 16, 2009 20:31:08 |
I don't have an issue with it all *Shrugs* It doesn't hurt for me to look the black on white |
| #249RUMPLESTIXSep 16, 2009 22:14:47 | You guys not having a problem does not change the fact that it is one of the more difficult color schemes to use. Of course, I am sure that someone could put two colors together with some effort that are harder but that does not change that something easier on the eyes than this should have been chosen as the default. I use IE and I have cleared my cookies and browser history, logged outrestarted logged back in and have the same scheme. I have tried various deviations to the above with no effect. Put bluntly, it sucks. |
| #250ogrehooperSep 16, 2009 22:24:32 | I don't understand what you guys are discussing, perhaps since I am not experiencing it. These forums are very easy on the eyes for me - and I've got horrible eyesight so that is saying something. |
| #251RUMPLESTIXSep 16, 2009 22:37:23 |
Do you have the gray background? I don't. |
| #252trappedsliderSep 17, 2009 0:09:18 |
nope,plain ol white background |
| #253lokiareSep 17, 2009 0:47:13 |
the subscribed threads link inside the preferences link that you get to from the top of the forums doesn't show anything on my computer except the name of the thread. Now if I manually go into the sub-forum and look to see who posted where, I can see the little number box and tell its been updated. This of course means that the only use the subscribed threads link has is to unsubscribe which would be better implemented by a button on the thread or a little 'x' on the subforum page next to the thread name, but that's would just be a neat feature I'm more worried about things like my [overexageration]bleeding eyes[/overexageration] at the moment. |
| #254ogrehooperSep 17, 2009 16:11:38 |
I've had the gray background since just a day or two after the beta went live. |
| #255lokiareSep 17, 2009 23:04:40 |
I had it for a day or two at that point, then it went back to blinding white. |
| #256PaulonSep 18, 2009 1:46:51 | For what it's worth, when they introduced the grey I had it for a day or so, then it vanished, then a few days later it came back again. I've got no idea why since I didn't change anything at my end. Firefox 3.0.13 (at the time, I've updated to 3.0.14 since) using the D&D theme. |
| #257calronmoonflowerSep 18, 2009 2:47:15 | I had the color flip-flop as well. It is currently on gray after relapsing once. |
| #258RUMPLESTIXSep 19, 2009 18:29:45 | From another thread I will add this but maybe it has already been done. When one "replies with quote" the quote tags contain both a long user number and a long post number. The post has a link to the profile of the user but not a link to the post. Since both numbers are contained shouldn't we bwe able to link to the post? Or, is the system designed to not do so in order to not need to have a gazillion links? |
| #259booleanSep 22, 2009 22:29:10 | I'd like to request that the way page titles are generated be changed. Specifically, that "The Wizards Community" not be included, or be placed at the back instead of the front. It's only a cosmetic change, but it would make tabbed browsing much more useful. At the moment all I can see of each title is "The Wizards Community > Thread -..", with at most two characters of the thread or forum title (assuming I've only got 5 or less tabs open, it's even worse with more than that). |
| #260ZireaelSep 23, 2009 7:32:10 | Some newer threads in FR (all three subforums) have 0 views for some time. What's going on? I know people are viewing them because you have ex. 6 answers, and I looked at them too... |
| #261shriekingdrakeSep 23, 2009 20:14:41 | It's too bad that it seems like progress on the site seems to have waned. |
| #262lokiareSep 24, 2009 0:47:27 | Maybe they have come to their senses and are about to use the most recent version of vBulletin? Much more stable and tested out of the box. |
| #263calronmoonflowerSep 24, 2009 1:58:05 | As copy and paste now cautches links I would like it to be able to propery copy and paste a thread title with a working link. |
| #264IgfigDec 01, 2009 0:32:22 | I think I found a bug. A big bug. I'm not going to go into too much detail, since I don't want people figuring out what it is... but it would pretty much let me edit other people's posts. Reporting. |
| #265GelatinousOctahedronDec 11, 2009 11:21:40 | Is there any way we could get a better way to do text formats? I have had a lot problems with editing my handbooks, especially if I cut and paste from a source with a different font type. It looks bad and it would be easier to do if I could just highlight the entire post and select one font and one font size. It is also difficult to edit parts of post without the entire post trying to adjust its centering/font/bold etc. I know you can adjust this all in html, but that is a big headache. Also is there a way to do images without hotlinking? Inline linking is bad manners and has resulted in at least one guide not being maintained to end up with this image in its first post. |
| #266ZireaelDec 25, 2009 5:48:12 | What happened to character profiles on the WotC page? They still pop up in Search Wizards, but I can't access them... I get the novels main page. |
| #267ZireaelJan 29, 2010 5:11:48 | I'm still waiting for an answer. Moreover, I wanted to ask if there's an option to make the first post show on all the pages of a thread. It could be useful if someone was making an index for some project. |
