| #1RamzourDec 19, 2013 14:24:00 | Dear Wizards,
Your new forums are terrible. Ever since your "upgrade" I've had nothing but problems.
An unreasonable number of posts/comments have been eaten.
I frequently get 503's and other miscellaneous errors.
The copy/cut/paste text function frequently refuses to work. (it actually happened while trying to type this post)
I never trust that any post/comment is going to go through so I've taken to copying my text before submitting the comment in the hopes that I can re-submit if the thing gets eaten. But since the copy/cut/paste function breaks sometimes.....yeah.
I've been logged out while posting, which deletes all my text and tells me I am "not authorized to post here".
Going to my own profile flashes the warning: "Oops, looks like this request tried to create an infinite loop. We do not allow such things here. We are a professional website!"
The comment system on your articles doesn't even allow the &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&, despite the fact that it's the second word in the title of your product.
Why are your forums so terrible? All we want to do is argue about D&D and we can't even do that because of these problems!
Seriously, though, we love your products and want to discuss them with each other. For the love of Pelor, can you please fix your forums?
Forever a D&D Fan, Ramzour
(feel free to sign below if you support this)
EDIT: I have an additional D&DNext related question for everyone. Have you playtested at all? If so, which packets have you played and how often do you play? |
| #2TaalVastalDec 19, 2013 14:30:57 | Yeah, I've been having a lot pf problems loosing updates when I edit my Psion Page.
Wizards: Ooh, it looks like he put a lot of work into these powers. Om nom nom. Mmmmm.

| #5RamzourDec 19, 2013 14:52:36 | Have you guys had the same problems as I listed in the OP? Have you had different problems than me? I'm curious to hear. |
| #6kadimDec 19, 2013 14:57:09 | Before this thread is shunted to the buried thread where folks are supposed to complain about the forums, I have to say I liked it infinitely better before. I've had many of the OP's issues (all bar the comment one, but I don't leave comments much). |

| #8TaalVastalDec 19, 2013 15:03:46 | Yeah, I tend to get logged out when I hit the post butto. The chances of this happening seem proportional to how much time I've spent on the post. I've taken to doing many little edits rather than one big one whenever I update.
Also, i don't like how these forums look. I agree with the OP, can't wizards just let us have our little, ridiculous arguments in peace?

| #9ShasarakDec 19, 2013 15:05:47 | I believe that WotC have had a long history of terribad forums, so I dont think they should go against that tradition now.
I am sick of entitled posters who come here expecting that just because it is 2013, that the forums should actually work properly and allow things like cut/paste ,spell checking. and not eating your precious posts. Mmmm, my precious post.
In my opinion complaining about the forums should be against the CoC.

| #11The_JesterDec 19, 2013 15:11:07 | Try it on an iPad sometime.
You can't navigate back once you click on a thread and the little drop-down menus don't work. When typing a message you can't scroll up or down so if you want to add something to an early part of a long post you cannot. Often times it refuses to allow you to add text when replying until you click on something else, like the text format box, |

As the primary focus of this thread is related to the forums, I will be moving this thread to Community Business.
Thanks. |

| #29ZardnaarDec 19, 2013 20:06:17 | I often type something up on ENworld or dragonsfoot and then copy and paste it here. |
| #30ORC_SizerDec 28, 2013 15:54:39 | I have removed content from this thread because Forum Disruption is a violation of the Code of Conduct. |
| #31baldhermitDec 29, 2013 6:00:41 | Well Ramzour, since the only replies in this thread on behalf of WotC are the move and the removing of some violation of code of conduct, i guess we know were we, as vocal customers, stand.

| #34sanguinolentumFeb 08, 2014 1:08:49 | Is there any chance/way to view ancient threads that come up as hidden? If not, why? |
| #35DDNFanMay 22, 2014 20:41:46 | The main thing wrong with this forum is preferential moderation that treats certain poster's verbal abuse as permissible. It's the main reason why Enworld is much better, because the moderation there is not so one-sided in favor of certain "vengeful" types, who can do no wrong.
A lot of this could be cleaned up by giving people 3 warnings before permanently banning them, and actively commenting on their posts rather than deleting / locking threads outright, which smacks of censorship and favoritism. When you have people spamming the "report post" button all the time, it's a sign the entire community is schizophrenic and I blame the moderators for the way things have deteriorated. I see posters here who have been banned on several other websites who nonetheless can keep posting their hate here.
No other company I've ever seen allows the majority of the forum members to slag their own forthcoming product so consistently, without putting a lid on that eventually. You have about a dozen posters here who's only purpose is to disrupt every conversation with negativity, despite admitting point blank that they hate the game and will not even buy it, and have no intention of playing it.
I sometimes wonder if there's any hope for this site. I come here once in a while to check up on things and get some news about my favorite game, and I'm excited about D&D Next, but all I see is the same two dozen posters yelling over each other back and forth about the same things all the time, hurling insults. What I don't get is that half of them are making very bad publicity for the game by spreading bile and hate every chance they get, insulting the developers by name and the company as well. No sane company should allow this on their own website, it's economically suicidal. A random person who might be interested in the upcoming edition might come here and read a single thread and think to themselves, do I really want to join a community such as this?
Your moderation guidelines are not working. It's time to switch it up, guys. |
