Is the new D&D Encounters season (a new campaign with new starting characters) called "The Lost Crown of Neverwinter" beginning this coming Wednesday (August 10, 2011)? When I showed up at my local game store earlier this summer to participate in one of the weekly Encounters sessions the DM had me make my character (while I was in the store waiting for the game to begin) on a computer program that had the various options (like some character classes I had never heard of before, such as a "slayer" for example) for the Encounters campaign included in it. Is this program available online so that I could generate (without being rushed) and print my character before I showed up at the game store, and if so where, or do I have to make my character at the game store on the DM's program? |

Encounters uses the Essentials classes and races and the class/classes and race/races of the book they are highlighting for that season. The program that you saw was the online Character Builder which is part of the DDi subscription. |
| #6hankreardonAug 05, 2011 17:14:07 | Okay, if I buy the DDi subscription and download the character builder, will the Essentials classes/races being used for this Encounters season be included in and marked as such in the program? Also, is there a webpage out yet that shows exactly what supplementals (I am completely unfamiliar with the Essentials) are being used for the new season? |
| #7AhrimonAug 05, 2011 17:18:10 | You can't download the character builder anymore. It's all web based now. They just removed the encounters legal character section (for season 5). But I'm sure they'll be adding another section for season 6 here any day now. They've done this for every season so far. |

The next season of Encounters will have its own Build choice in the Character Builder on Tuesday the 9th. You would choose Custom and then the top choice will more than likely be the Neverwinter Encounters option. And as others have said the program is not downloadable it is web based. |

I'm building a dwarf warpriest, which is obviously an Essentials class and race. Ordinarily, warpriests are allowed to select their daily powers from the list of PHB-Cleric powers as well. Does this still apply, or am I strictly limited to the powers listed in HotFL, even though this is an option normally supported for the class. Similarly, I wanted to take Dwarven Weapon Training, a feat which my Essentials race character qualifies for, but is in fact listed in PHB. I guess what I'm asking boils down to, are we limited to to the Essentials books for race / class choices, or for every single choice down to power selection, feat selection, background selection, or for that matter, item selection? |

That is truly up to the organizer at the store you play. But in general it is only Essentials powers. |
