| #1Mr_MiscellanyApr 22, 2009 20:17:51 | Hello, In the Just thought of something morbid. thread, the OP announces that Ed Greenwood is dead and that WotC killed him off. [EDIT] Since then the OP has edited down his statement and tried to recast his opening post to something along the lines of, "Oh, I was just talking about the NPC Ed Greenwood, not the real one." Thing is, there is no "NPC" Ed Greenwood, just a real, living human being who's beloved by many for his selfless personal investment of time and energy into the Forgotten Realms. Likewise, there's nothing morbid in an NPC being killed (we read novels from WotC where that happens all the time), but everything morbid in suggesting a real person was killed. When the OP talks about thinking up, "something morbid," it's obvious there's no distinction being made between an NPC and a person; he's talking about a real person being dead and using it in yet another spite-filled post against the 4th Edition Forgotten Realms. The OP trying to link his post to Ed's inclusion of himself into some of his stories (see old out of print issues of Dragon Magazine) is a far-too-late excuse. I can't for the life of me understand how ORC Sinister failed to see the vulgarity, hate and total bate-worthiness in the OP's thread. Instead of doing something about the thread when it was reported, ORC Sinister opted to censure one of the people that complained about the OP in the thread itself but otherwise left the entire thread alone. If a forum member were to make a similar thread, but substitute another forum member or an ORC as the subject, such a thread would be locked and the key thrown away almost instantly. Why is that not the case now? Isn't this part of the reason why (for example) novel discussion was banned so long ago? Regardless, someone in a position of power and authority needs to delete the OP's thread immediately. The thread is highly offensive, an embarrassment to the community and (so far) an exceptionally poor example of ORC moderation. |
