Mar 09, 2009 23:54:37 This has been bothering the hell out of me, so I have to ask about it.

What are the defining parameters that determine whether or not editing a post will leave a last edited by note?

I am pretty sure that if you put something in the edit note box it will always say something, but sometimes it seems to leave the note without placing text in the box and sometimes it doesn't

I think that once it does it for one, it will for all after that...

Does anyone know?

1st edit
2nd edit
3rd edit 1256
4th edit @1258

Mar 10, 2009 0:59:50 Editing a post will not leave a "Last edited by" note if the post was made very recently, about within the last three minutes or so. A note is always displayed if you enter a reason for editing.

-It's always fun if someone responds to your post very quickly, allowing you to immediately go back to your post and edit it, leaving "no trace", and then saying, "I never said that..."

I've had that happen once. Fortunately to the person that replied to me, he didn't look like bad for it.

It's for spelling and grammar errors.

I just edited a post 10 minutes after it was written. No edit note.
