| #1tsukinousagiJul 30, 2010 8:09:51 | When I joined, this forum was beta, it's still beta, likely will be beta when the topic is 5th edition. That's not acceptable. The other day I could not log in for love of money. Reason, never was one visible or detectable. I was able to log on with a friends account just fine, thus it is not something simple at my end. I was able to read the forums just fine, I simply wasn't logged in or about to be. Today I can obviously log in, but the reason why, I have no idea. Could it have been a recent post? No idea. I tend to think if I have crossed a line, I get told 'hey you crossed a line' and then I know, ok that's not an option. But as I have not been told ANYthing, aside from an edited post making it plain a mod didn't like it, which is ok, that's what mods are for, I can only muse if that was the issue with loggin in, or if it was just that this forum is a perpetual beta and simply runs slowly and poorly. It takes longer to load Wizards (any portion too eh, not just the forums) than anywhere else I go online. My DDI access has expired (a year is not forever) and I am not feeling in a hurry to renew it. What for? Essentials is almost upon us, and I will be watching news of 5th edition before any meaningful movement is made beyond the PC generator portion of a reason to have a DDI account. Access to DDI stuff like downloads is all fine and dandy, but, I have all the content up to this point. I'll be lucky to 'expend' it during play before 6th edition. I get in a game session a week as DM if I'm lucky. In a perfect year that's 52 games. Ok so assume I am only going to get 30 sessions. That wouldn do more than use up my copy of Dungeon Delve. And I still have all the other modules I bought. Plus all those downloads. If my PC Generator misses out on a few not really vital updates, who cares. Thinking of editing it back to only allowing for the core 3 Players at any rate. I have found allowing too many odd options has only led to players with weird options no one can find in print in the books I routinely have lying around at the game. But I have also found I have reached the 'chasing my tail' inevitable result of forum activities here. The threads seem to focused on people asking questions for answers they should have already known the answers to. When we are not bitching about DDI content promised not materializing, edition wars and how we wish Wizards would insert such and such as if Wizards actually really is interested in our wishes. I don't really care what Essentials has to offer. So what it is, how good it is, and whether it is invalidating what I have already bought means a lot of the forum babble really won't grab me. I've made my purchases, I've got what I need to play the game, and I think it is clear 4th has run it's course. Now it is just something waiting to one day run out of stock. Like as was mentioned, they are not printing it any more, because they printed plenty and no longer need to print. They'll be able to sell 4th for some time now. Assuming Essentials doesn't turn 4th edition stocks into the same category that 3.5 currently possesses. Stores run the same way as Wizards does eh, shelf space is only for the latest product range. Anything not current gets bumped down the line. And so that is what I am doing I suppose with the forums. Bumping them down the line in places I feel I need to post on. I might read em a bit for a while, but I think I have run out of need to post. Feel free to slag the over rated good bye thread people I know you want to ![]() |
