Not to mention a bunch of other great people, including Mr. Dave Noonan.

...Is it true?

If Solice was let go, it was a serious mistake. She did a damn good job cleaning up the utter mess than Mike / Gamer Zer0 had made of the forums during his time here. She was polite, responsive, and generally made the community here (as divided as it has been since the 4e launch) feel less fractured. If she was let go, it feels like she's getting axed for other people's faults *cough*Gleemax and DDI*cough*.

I don't think she was laid off...otherwise I would believe that the VCLS would be informed at least in some timely manner...

EDIT::embarrass @ leaving out key word...

(...I'm just gonna toss out there, slider, that you're missing a word in there that may change the meaning of your sentence, and you may want to edit it. I'm just saying.)

It seems that the only source that's talking about this is Lisa Stevens from Paizo. I did some searching, and while I found a bunch of stuff quoting her statement, I can't find any other source to confirm that her statement is accurate. On the other hand, it's possible that WotC just wasn't planning on telling their loyal DnD fans about the changes. I guess that would explain the lack of statement from WotC. And really, would anyone be surprised if WotC made changes and tried to pretend they never happened **cough** again **cough**?

Confirmation from a former WotC employee has been posted in that EnWorld Forum.

Dave Noonan HIMSELF, actually. Further discussed in this Thread.

A lot of people are worried... I know WOTC has a right to keep their business to themselves but I am hoping they at least make a statement regarding those who have been laid off and why WOTC is letting such talent get away from them.

EDIT: Then again, the two people who finally bridged the gaps and restored communication to the fans are on that list. So we may be looking at another chasm between ourselves and WOTC.

I agree.

It's sad when people get laid off, especially around the holidays.*

*And no, this is not a "WotC is SO EVUL OMG!!!111" type post, I'm just saying what I think, and what a lot of other people think.

I (about) had to change my pants ;).

I feel for those who are still employed by WotC; now they have to start worrying about whether or not their jobs are secure. There's never a good time to get laid-off but it's really crummy when it happens during the holidays .

I think that means we're back to mob rule.

Too bad we can't lay them off and keep Solice and Noonan.

-That's not in your best interest. Just saying.

-But, in all seriousness, I know GZ and Solice worked in tandem, each one taking care of different sides. When GZ left, Solice was there to cover both sides. Now there's a big vacuum. Before the coming of GZ and Solice, the WizOs handled a lot of that administrative stuff. Now, WizOs don't work like that anymore. Now what? Council of VCLs?

As I'm sure will be noted quickly in her "goodbye" thread - WotC_Mike (aka Mike Gills) will be filling her shoes to the best of his ability.

-Indeed:

As I am sure you have heard there have been some changes here at Wizards. Parts of those changes involve me pursuing other opportunities.

I wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you to everyone here who harbors the kind of passion for games that makes this community so great. It has been a pleasure, and an honor, to work for you all.

While Wizards is in the process of developing new CM procedures, I am grateful that I am able to leave this community in the capable hands of WotC_Mike. He’s a great guy, and a truly committed community man! Please be kind, supportive and helpful to him, he deserves it!

I now take my leave with nothing but admiration and gratitude in my heart, for this community and for the opportunity Wizards of the Coast provided me. (Yes I know it sounds like canned speech, but I really do mean it!)

Happy gaming one and all!

Sincerely,
Jennifer "Solice" Paige
