#1 kletian999 Apr 10, 2009 0:24:08	So the Errata boards, after a flurry of reminders that "The forum is for pointing out possible problems, not discussions" has started exporting it's most contentious threads to other forums. Going forward, I'd like to know the protocol for the situation, specifically could the following questions be answer: 1. The Criteria for when threads get moved, is it because a. the line of discussion went into theoretical (game design theory) instead of more solid premises? b. because threads there aren't supposed to be long and should not hold arguments as to whether the original post is accurate or not? c. because issues the community can't agree over won't be changed? d. because the issue has been reviewed by devs or whoever and is not considered errata worthy? 2. As a logical followup, when a thread is moved: a. Should a new thread of the same topic be built sans discussion until the issue is errataed? or b. Is that topic now taboo to be posted again? I make this post with no intention of protesting the action, I just want clarification of the "rules" of these scenarios. Thank you.

The Errata boards are specifically for bringing up issues that may need errata. While it's always good to see people's opinions of what should and shouldn't be errata, ultimately the errata team makes those decisions, so when conversations get really heated, things have devolved to a point where it's not doing any body any good. We want the errata forums to remain a place where people feel comfortable stating what they feel is errata without fear of being attacked or bashed for their opinions. Often, anything that is off topic and is not errata worthy will be moved/closed. So theoretical game design discussions don't really belong in this area, and because of that, can be closed/moved. The community team and the errata team constantly watch over the discussions that are going on in the errata boards and we are aware of each issue brought up there. Even if a conversation is started and then moved, we can still see that the discussion originated in the errata area and have access to all the salient points. There's no need to post the topic again if it has been moved, so I would suggest no reposting it. Hopefully that sheds some light on some of the reasons things get moved/closed in this area.
