Essentials threads

I've been sitting on my hands waiting to see how things develop with the Essentials line, but it seems there are a lot of freak out threads.

Some of the Essentials threads are fine and will remain open. Those are the ones that have an actual topic. For example, a thread discussing Magic Item Rarity.

Over the next few days, I'll be closing the "OMG 4.5!" type threads.

In the meantime, I've created a thread that will be passed on to WotC for Q&A. I can't promise answers, but the thread will be passed on.

Thank you. If anything, I think people are freaking out over nothing. From what I've seen, there is no 4.5. Essentials is just another option.

It's less then 4.5, it's more like "Advance" or "Player's Options". The truth is out there. This is just censorship because some people are afraid that all the critics will affect sails.

No, it isn't censorship. It's an effort to keep stupid out of the forums, because stupid has infested it lately with all the whining about essentials.

There is whining but also smart comments. Artifact is a pretty smart and sane voice for the "I am worried" side.

People (me included) gave tonnes of cash to WotC. Maybe we wanna be heard when they are bringing the game into a new direction.

But the difference is Artifact is responsible and smart and sane about it.
You cry foul and censorship.

There's a difference here.

Be glad I'm not in charge of the forums. Not only would you not be heard, you'd get banned the first time you complained. Want to vote? Do so with your wallet.

Welcome to reality.

If you do not let people voice their criticism, sane or not, it is censorship.

This is WotC/Hasbro's own forum. They are under absolutely no legal or moral obligation to allow people to post whatever they want here.

Ignoring your customers' concerns is would be an utterly stupid business decision, but it's not it wouldn't be censorship.

EDIT: Because, as Webster pointed out, this isn't actually happening anyway.

You'll also note Essential threads have NOT been closed left and right. Only the trolling/baiting ones.

Holy Cr*p !  That's a lot of errata for a book that's not even supposed to be out until 09/21...

And what's with the HORRIBLE clashing colors on the new background of the DnD home page ?  Yuck.

Looks like they need a new web designer / graphic artist, as well as a new game design team.

DnD has essentially gone to Hell.

You seem to be confused. That's not errata to the Essentials book, it is errata to existing books to bring them in line with what is in the Essentials books.

A lot of it seems to be just adding stuff to the more lacklustre wizard spells. There are a couple of things there that give me pause (I'm not sure how swordmages are going to like having to take both Weapon Focus and Implement Focus, for example), but the vast majority of the changes look positive to me (implement proficiency is actually sane now!)
