As for searching for previous posts on the same topic, it's really your responsibility; it's rude to clutter the boards with duplicate topics. If a poster doesn't have time to search for posts on the topic he wants to post on, then he doesn't have time to post on the forums, because that's a necessary part of the process. These boards are generally not very cluttered, and threads about problems with the new forums are easy to find and sort through on the Community Business Forum. The fact that your post might get lost in a big thread on the topic is irrelevant; it's still rude to start a separate thread on the exact same topic. In fact, I would say it would have made it even more rude if you had been aware of the other thread and posted your own anyway, just so that yours would be more visible than everyone else's. Finally, does it really matter if your thread gets buried in the big thread if everyone else in the big thread is already expressing the exact same concern as you anyway? I don't believe that asking another poster to post in the right forum is harassment. I could be wrong, and that sort of post might violate the CoC as a sort of "doing the moderators jobs for them" offense, but I don't think it is. Now look, posting on the wrong forum or making a duplicate thread isn't the end of the world, and if it was an honest mistake then it was an honest mistake, no harm done, no hard feelings. And in fact I think Leichenreiter was a bit rude in his post. But you should have admitted that you'd made a mistake and briefly apologized anyway. And that last line should not be indented or bolder; how on earth did I manage that? I can't seem to fix it either. |
