The idea is from a member named Orzel and it appears in post #4.  So far, it's received a lot of member support and seems to be very well accepted - and yes, you'll see my voice among the 'hell yes' folks that chimed in to say they loved it.  The community (er, at least those of us talking in that thread) would like to know if you can maybe help us get this to the Dev Team so they can see it.  I guess someone PMd a staff member or two about it and hasn't heard anything back so I decided to give this a shot.  Anyhoo, could you at least let us know - either way - if you can get this to a member of the team?  Thanks in advance for takin' a look at this.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I should probably add that the reason we're looking for this is because we truly believe the idea is exceptional and deserves real consideration.  This, to us, isn't just some sorta neato throwaway, it's got legs.  Thanks.

Orzel's idea is truly great, we'd really like to see it implemented. I sent messages to two diferent staff members but haven't received answers. Please, if at all possible, bring this up to the Devs. Ask them to read the thread that ZB linked, and see for themselves how much approval the community has given to Orzel's proposal. It's one of the very few ideas that have been nearly unanimously acclaimed, I think.

Agreed. There is overwhelming positive support for Orzel's idea because it is both flavorful and mechanically sound. It doesn't give an overly specialized bonus that simultaneously way overdoes effectiveness against enemies of the chosen type (as raw attack and damage bonuses do). Instead, it gives a bunch of flavorful incidental, utilitarian bonuses that have repercussions that make sense within the context of a game world. If you are good at fighting against a creature that commonly uses ganging up tactics, having that bonuses against other creatures that do the same makes sense. If you are effective against creatures that constantly set traps, being better aware of traps in general makes sense.

I think this is one of the most universally liked and positively received suggestions presented on the entire D&D Next board. I, personally, think it is easily the best implementation of Favored Enemy I have seen in the last 30+ years of playing D&D I've been involved in. This would be an amazing addition to the Ranger's repetoire of hallmark abilities from this point forth in the game's lifespan.

Yes, Orzel's idea is amazing, and very interesting. It also has the potential for easy expansion, not to mention it wouldn't be difficult for DMs to homebrew new Favored Enemy categories.

The member Zelkon created a thread in D&D Next General to show how many people support the idea. This is the thread: community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758...
