| #1HaldrikSep 12, 2009 15:11:17 | I feel strongly the 'Future Releases' forum should move from D&D HQ to D&DI. The Future Releases is the place for speculating about or requesting upcoming D&D material. However, this Futures forum (mostly) belongs to D&DI (including D&DI announcements about excerpts of upcoming material). D&DI is the place where players should go to 'Help Shape The Game'. I feel bad HQ gets my energy on this topic. Id rather invest this speculative/wishlist energy here in D&DI. Also, the Future Releases is a venue where players can contribute meaningfully, even if they arent D&DI subscribers yet. After all, they know what they want and can still make predictions. Its fun, and they can get a chance to check out the D&DI forums. Itl also be easier for them see how subscribing is valuable because D&DI gets them closer to news about research and development. Please move Future Releases to D&DI. |

I always feel questionable posting about upcoming insider material on Future Releases, but that's where we oft talk about them, anyways.

| #3ranadielSep 13, 2009 5:43:20 | I disagree entirely the Future Releases forum is perfectly finw where it is. I do think Future Releases should have a "no D&Di future article discussion" rule so that all of that discussion is directed here. However I don't think that the fact that D&Di discussion takes place there is enough reason to move a forum primarily focused on print products into the Insider umbrella. If it should be moved any place it should be moved to D&D Fundamentals. |
| #4HaldrikSep 13, 2009 15:42:29 | Future Releases is 'perfectly fine' where it is because ... it is conceptually inseparable from ... the legalities of a trademark?? or how to run a bulletin board?? LOL! It is nonsense to have Future Releases in HQ. The best place to showcase upcoming D&D concepts is with the rest of the upcoming jewels in D&DI. D&DI will almost always mention upcoming products first, long before the rest of the public becomes aware of it. The posters of D&DI will 'help shape' those products before they even are products yet. The designers and developers, and discussions with them, are here. In D&DI.

If you want to move it then it should go into D&D Fundamentals not into D&Di. There is no logical reason for a forum about print products to be moved into the section for the D&D digital initiative.
Care to explain why it is nonsense? It certainly looks to make more sense then D&Di to me. In D&DI. If by first you mean half a year after everyone at Future Releases is aware of the product then sure. Although ythat is a weird definition of first. And designers and developers don't really hang out here(except for the the D&Di ones). All of them hang out over at EnWorld. |
| #6HaldrikSep 14, 2009 0:04:30 | Ranadiel: There is no logical reason for a forum about print products to be moved into the section for the D&D digital initiative. There is every logical reason to move the forum about future print products to the D&D Insider forum. D&D Insider already has a subforum that announces excerpts from these future print products: D&Di Announcements. Thus these Future Releases are already being discussed here. The topic of Future Releases, especially the speculation and wishlists, belongs with the rest of Design and Development, here in D&D Insider. One of goals of D&D Insider is to allow players to be on the 'inside' of the game, with the designers and developers. The motto of D&D Insider is to 'help shape the game' - that is exactly what speculation and wishlists do. These discussions by players to 'help shape' Future Releases. |
| #7HaldrikSep 14, 2009 0:24:18 | Ranadiel: Care to explain why it is nonsense? The current location of the Future Releases forum is nonsense. Because. The other two forums there in HQ involve clarifying the legalese of the gaming license (GSL), and calling attention to problems with running the bulletin boards (Community Business). The topic of Future Releases has nothing to do with those other two topics.

| #8WebsterSep 14, 2009 0:39:18 | It's actually fine where it is- the Future Releases is for the physical product. |
| #9HaldrikSep 14, 2009 1:15:54 | Webster: The Future Releases is for the physical product. D&Di Announcements is also for the same physical product. Fine where it is. Fine where it is? What does Future Releases have to do with a gaming license or a bulletin board? |
| #10HaldrikSep 14, 2009 1:26:31 | In any case, the current location of Future Releases is robbing D&Di of the hopes and desires that get expressed there. The lifeblood is there in Future Releases. Not here in D&Di. Speculation and wishlists concerning design and developent should be here in D&Di. |
| #11WebsterSep 14, 2009 2:27:17 | Not every person that plays D&D has a subscription to DDI. And thus, they don't bother coming to the DDI forum. (The DDI announcements are for announcements about DDI, |
| #12HaldrikSep 14, 2009 14:26:21 | Webster: Not every person that plays D&D has a subscription to DDI. And thus, they don't bother coming to the DDI forum. Future Releases interests many players, and moving Future Releases to D&Di exposes more people to the D&Di environment, and ultimately helps increase D&Di sales. The DDI announcements are for announcements about DDI. D&Di Announcements are also for the 'excerpts' from various Future Releases. By the way, you didnt explain why you feel Future Releases belongs in the same catagory as the legalese of the gaming license and the machinery of the bulletin board. ;) |

Or decreases traffic to the Future Releases forum as people who don't have D&Di think that it is related to D&Di and therefore irrelevant to them. |
