I feel that it's very stifling to be able to use the search only 1440 times/day.

I really don't like how WoTC has implemented this limit on the amount of times I can use search in a day. Would it be possible to increase the amount of times we can use the search option to 2880? It would really make using the function a lot easier.

Thanks for the consideration.

WOW! You use search more than One Thousand Four Hundred Fourty times per day? I typed out the number in such a way as to point out that, to me, it seem a bit excessive to need to search the forums that much.

my actual concern in this has more to do with the fact that WoTC has no control over the fabric of time and space.

I think Orion's point (that might be buried in his way of saying it) is that the delay between searches is too long. It's not a matter of how many he can do in one day, but rather a matter of how long he must wait after his first attempt to find something didn't return the desired results.

I think the O.P. was making a joking complaint about the fact that we need to wait a minute between searches.
WotC didn't put a cap of "1440 searches maximum". It put a cap of "you need to wait a minute before making another search". 60 minutes in an hour * 24 hours in a day = 1440.
And frankly, I agree that this is darn annoying.

Edit: darnit, Zherog was ahead of me :<

Meh, I dont find it stifling. From the time my search is completed, to the time I've found the thread I'm looking for, to the time I've read what I've wanted to read, I've usually spent well more than a minute.

Most forums have at least a 30 second wait time. Its a big strain on the servers when thousands of people are "spamming" search requests a hundred times a minute.

And I, as I have missed the joke, retract my snippy statement.

Gosh I barely use the search feature once per week. I think we need a search feature trading system so I can sell my unused searches to the highest bidder. Sort of like carbon trading. Only without the carbon.

I agree 100%.

I would like to trade my unused minutes for a ceramic dalmation, and get the rest on a gift certificate, Pat.

OT: Phrennzy, did you get that MLP pic I sent. It doesn't have an army helmet, but it still fits your sig.

OP: :P :D

When you find what you're looking for, sure, it takes more than a minute before you're ready to search again.

But when you misspell a word in search, or choose the wrong words to search for, and get no or few hits, it is annoying to have to wait a full minute before searching again. Many message boards do it this way, though.

Would it be possible to have a counter instead? When you search say five times in 3 minutes or less, then you can't search again for 2-3 minutes. This would still limit the cpu usage, but would allow for re-searching faster when you get no hits.

Its true, but its also Wizards. Remember how long Search was down before - if it becomes a major problem again, I'm sure they'll just shut it back down. I don't think they really want to go out of their way to implement such a thing or a counter because it would 1. take up more time to program such a thing, 2. need a possible upgrade to the servers, and 3. not necessarily be at the top of Wizard's "to do" list anyway.

Its a nice idea, but I highly doubt it'll happen.

I would like to thank WoTC for implementing my suggestion, I can now search 2880 times a day and it is much less stifling. Thank you for listening.
