I got a Database Error....again

Jul 05, 2008 19:46:59		I can't read any of the threads in these forums again, I remember seeing a work around but I never saved it on this computer and I can't access the threads to find it. I got a catch 22 here and was wondering if someone had a link so when I am finally able to access the threads I can save it.

The long and the short of it is that last week, there was a database problem, where threads posted before a certain time/date became corrupted. Thus, the database had to be fixed, and threads were lost. Apparently, the problem happened again.

Yup 0 threads subscribed.

If it is happening to everyone, then I bet that all the threads were hidden form the subscription list to try to duplicate the problem original cause, to make it easier to see what threads can return and what are to remain hidden in "special" forums.

Or they were backed up and all existing subscriptions deleted and a rollback from the saved subscriptions is coming when they are checked for those hidden threads. Meaning any new subscriptions from this point Might be lost after the rollback is instated.

Eric, I have found a workaround for the default style problem.

Firefox users: Look for an add-on or extension called Stylish.

Jul 05, 2008 23:11:22 		They're using mySQL for the messageboard's database. I saw an error message earlier that stated a specific table was corrupted and needed to be repaired. If that message was correct, that the table was corrupted and had to be repaired manually by a DBA, perhaps using mySQL was not the wisest choice for a messageboard expected to be up 24/7 with such a high volume. . .

Oh, great, another database error, but this one is most likely caused by flaws in software not designed for high-concurrency environments -- not the database itself. They have a serious problem on their hands and I strongly doubt that it will be fixed in "a day or two"; more like a week or two.
