Does that mean I'm going to die?

Well, you will need to flee before it regenerates, otherwise you may be forced to defend yourself. Might I suggest fire?

It all depends on when you stop fighting the troll.  They may be impossible to kill but if you beat one down far enough maybe you can get away before it gets back up to come after you.

I certainly agree with you that killing trolls is a nearly impossible task especially if you can't get the right kind help to do it.  If there are sinister forces supporting the troll (maybe they have a finger) it is even worse.

Sunlight is the best disinfectant*; I'd much rather fight trolls in daylight than in the darkness. I've added some other diplomatic remarks to Draco's call.

*Biology note: No, it isn't. But Gandalf can try.

It really depends on how much sunlight you can focus on a small area.

I live!

You do although you may have died in a parrallel universe.

If it is any consolation I worked at bringing fire to the deal with the troll and it may have finally worked.

A note: I did send a PM to one of the CM team first.  I've been in contact with another today.  In general, don't do what I did.  Report.  Report again.  If that doesn't work, take it to CM (WotC_Trevor, crazy_monkey, and Dragonette).  All of them, if necessary.

EDIT: Note #2: Thanks, guys.  I'm pretty sure that if no one else had posted, I would have been hit with the banhammer.

Any news of weather or not this is a permanent fix, or a temporary one?

The only news we'll get is if he returns.  They won't tell us.  And it's probably a good thing that they won't.

Now if the beast has been driven away are we all going back to our nice quiet lives?

Peace and quiet, in this scenario, synonymous with loot and EXP. Twas a mighty battle. May this fellowship rejoin if ever such evil invades again.

I don't take pride in the misfortune of others, but I do enjoy clean, crisp signal amidst the sea of noise. The only way to truly have that online is with light moderation.
A note: I did send a PM to one of the CM team first.  I've been in contact with another today.  In general, don't do what I did.  Report.  Report again.  If that doesn't work, take it to CM (WotC_Trevor, crazy_monkey, and Dragonette).  All of them, if necessary.

It says a lot about how insular I am on these boards, but I actually didn't realize those three were the CM here. (Well, I knew Trevor was from his name, but...). I only reported twice (once to an ORC, and once to CM through their portal).
EDIT: Note #2: Thanks, guys.  I'm pretty sure that if no one else had posted, I would have been hit with the banhammer.

It was out of this fear that I posted as quickly as I did, and I'm glad I wasn't the only one. I thank you for taking the initiative though.

(That said, I think the problem on the CO boards is less severe, because when the line does get crossed, the mods promptly do their thing, and when the line doesn't get crossed he actually has useful things to add. The problem on THIS board was more that he was... well*. )

Now, for the record, I will say that if he learns from this and comes back, I won't automatically assume it's in bad faith. I would hope others would act in that spirit as well. Of course, if he isn't back in good faith, click that Report button with both barrels.

Yes, that really exists. There's actually a surprisingly large set of pages like that if you know where to look. Some are quite bizarre, even though most contain good advice.

Howdy folks,

I am going to move this over to Community Business where it is more on-topic and then close it as discussing specific moderation actions is considered forum disruption and against the Code of Conduct.

Thanks.

Wise words tempest. Heaven knows I don't wish ill on anyone, I guess sometimes my old mod/admin habitats pop up and I start looking for the ban/warn buttons when I see such behavior (I use to mod a friends web comic fan forum). In regards to the op bored problem, I agree that if that particular "issue" wasn't so abrasive, things wouldn't be bad and constructive dialogue could be had. I think that's what all this boils down to really, the ability to have a constructive environment verses a destructive one. Arguing a point (in a polite manner) can lead to new avenues of thinking, however when you inject hostility into the process (such as on the op boards) or an unwillingness to adhere to facts that show you are in the wrong, well highjacking a thread that isn't related to the point (as in the general bored) it just leads to convoluted messes that noone realy wants to be a part of but instinctualy fight against.
