| #1knightofhonourOct 15, 2009 22:50:52 | Hello there,
I coudn't find this around anywhere on the site, I'm new here so I don' know everyting well. What I would like to know is this: If I make a Play-by-Forum type of D&D game on some forum in the internet, can I post a image of a monster taken from either the Online Compendium or one of the Monster Books of 4th ED I own? Or would that be wrong?
thanks in advance, KOH |

| #3knightofhonourOct 16, 2009 2:36:53 | Well I was talking about posting a picture from a book I own with indicated sources and authors on other forums, not here. Even that is not enough then? I thought that it could be possible since it's not for commercial purposes. Is there a way to obtain a license or someting like that?
Also I guess pictures from previous edtions cannot be posted too (on other forums, not here) even if we provide the author and source? |

| #6knightofhonourOct 17, 2009 1:07:43 | To anyone wondering the offical answer is: no, we are not allowed to use art from here or the previous vesions (on the archives) on play-by-forum campaigns outside of this forum. You can use only the things contained on the fan-site kit. |

Then again what if I wanted to scan pics from my D&D books and use them? XD Or what if I buy a pdf? (oddly enough i've used pics from other sites before but I don't think i've used a single pic from wotc for a pbp site anywhere... then again i love kobolds and there isn't too much kobold material XD To me ownership becomes something like.... I bought it.. it's mine O_o I can do what I want with it outside of posting the book as a scanned pdf on downloading sites. Reminds me, I did buy some pdf's from logan's sinster adveture's site for his few dollar "indulgences" pdfs. I feel if I want to use the pics for something else I should! (which i've YET to do... but I been wanting a way to put those weresharks into my rp world |
| #8knightofhonourOct 18, 2009 23:12:38 | Yes it is really unfortunate, but the e-mail was quite clear: only fan site kit images are allowed to be posted on outside forums, unless that forum has some kind of partnership with the WOTC. A disappointment, since my online campaigns would be much more interesting with the monster pictures and other artwork. I don't really see the problem in doing this since we could just mention the author and the book that. Anyway... =/ |
