A friend o mine said there were some rumours Jon were leaving WotC. Can somebody confirm it, or disprove it? I really hope it is not true!

The art guy.  Needed to google to find out who this was.

Hope the new art guy has a more Wayne Reynolds style, I love the work he does for Pathfinder/4e/M:TG

Yeah The_Jester, pulling the last Dragon's-Eye View article is strange indeed.

Hm - Throughout this whole thing, John's vision and thought process has been the part I've enjoyed most. I'm genuinely displeased he's off. But I wish him good luck.

You guys are such conspiracy theorists.   Maybe he just got another job that he prefers.  Maybe some comic company hired him :-).   I wouldn't assume it was involuntary.

With Jon, I am comfortable with where the D&D art is heading. I am confident the products will look great. If he is going elsewhere I hope the art can still be on target.

Not to gravedance or anything, but I really hope this means that the big-eyed halflings disappear/get toned down. Jon seemed very intent on that happening, and I think that has been the most universally-disliked part of DDNext so far.

At least he is the company of some other very talented people.  Here is a link to a page at EnWorld that keeps track of ex-WoTC employees and what they are doing now.

So I might have not known who Jon was by name, but I do wish him luck in the future and maybe we will see him working with Monte Cook or Lisa Stevens.

I actually liked the 'big-eyed halflings' (as Alter Boy puts it ;)).  I've never been a fan of halflings but the art interested me enough for a serious look.

I haven't followed the Dragon's Eye View articles very closely, just in passing, but I like the direction art seems to be taking with DDN.  What effect will Mr. Schindehette's departure mean for the art direction?  Will they take an entirely new approach now or stay the course?  I wonder.

Don't be silly,  Jon Schindehette  didn't write the article you linked to, it was a guest article.

They published the job offer here. I guess he left unexpectedly.

I love the part where it says "Time Expected to Reach Full Performance Level in Position: 3 months"

You know that with NEXT scheduled for release GenCon 2014, whomever gets this position will be expected to be at full performance level in like 3 days.

Bummer.  Jon is responsible for initiating and developing the FR World Bible, for which me and many others are in his debt.  The glimses of it they've shown us are fantastic, I can only hope it'll be published at some point.  Hopefully his departure doesn't mean an end to that project.  Best of luck to him as he continues his life journey!

Jon explained his departure on his blog The ArtOrder

"I didn’t get fired, and I didn’t quit. The rest takes a little explanation. I have loved my gig with D&D. Like I told the guys that are creating the D&D Documentary, “I have the best job in the world!” I wasn’t just saying that, I believe it. All I’ve ever wanted to do was  be a value-add to the creative team that makes the greatest game in the world. When I came back to D&D 6 years ago, after a short stint away from Wizards, I was asked why I wanted to come back to a non-management position (For those that don’t remember, I was once the VP of Creative Services) I didn’t even have to hesitate – the answer was simple, I just wanted to create great games. I had my fill of management, I am a creative at heart and that is all I want to be."

He didn't realy explain everything.  He sounded like he was a politician and was asked why he is leaving his office unexpectedly.  He wasn't fired and didn't quit?  Then he should still be working there.

I can sympathize. I love the academic world, because truth, but cant stand the petty politics of it.

If Jon loves beauty, but cant stand middle management, that makes sense to me.
