I have just been through the painful process of getting used to the new fora (didn't work yet), being unable to find the 'find player's close to you' in the list, then was required to get a new avatar because they removed my awesome wizard and give all kind of information, figured out I didn't have a postcount, wonder why I have to have a crappy profile page as if this is facebook, to finally place a rant about it here.
My question: Where can I find the forum where I can find players close to me?

I'm curious about this feature myself. The postcount is taken from the last forum minus anything that was posted before that. If you want your old signature back, do a google search for one of your posts and click the cached page link. Then save the avatar image, and copy and paste your signature.

I'm affraid it seems google did not save my avatar. The cache does not show me any images. Good idea though.
In addition, I still wonder where the subforum has gone. :P
I never went to that subforum, but isn't there a user search now? Maybe they figured that would replace the functionality.

And I don't think the user search can replace a message "searching for group". It would be quite inconvenient and require all the users to disclose their location.
I think if you put a zipcode in the search bar it'll pull up all users in that zipcode that have chosen to let themselves be searchable.
I've also searched for groups by placing a city near me's name in the group name box. It brought up several I could have contacted if I had the need. So that's another option - maybe. ;)

If it wasn't for the fact I managed to dig up the renamed subforum, you might have been quite right. We have seen some strategically "curious" decisions from WotC.
The forum wasn't renamed- it's where it always was.

Well, they may have nixed that option while they attempt to implement more features to control who can allow themselves to be searched... you know, as per the thread you participated in condemning WotC for allowing people to search by Zip Code...

I wasn't against the searching by zip code. I was against the requiring people to enter a zip code or make it public.

I know. Thats why I identified it as "the thread you participated in", not "the thread where you said ..." (sorry if I implied otherwise, I didn't intend it this time. I also participated in that thread). What I was trying to get across is that some people railed against others being able to search by zip code and find them (and that you were aware of such objections), so it isn't unreasonable to believe they removed the option until they can implement a middle ground option.
