It's official, do whatever the hell you want here, and no one will even try to stop you.

I've reported a thread where one member is very blatantly baiting and using personal attacks. He had one post edited, the person edited it back to what it was before and made a snarky post about how the mod was wrong.

And nothing came of it.

So, that's it. Code of Conduct is officially irrelevant, do whatever the hell you want here. If a mod edits your post, just edit it back, they don't care. And feel free to call people names all you want.

Seriously, mods, did your balls drop off or something? None of this happy horsecrap would have gone on before the Gleemax shift.

Did you report it again after it was edited back to the way it originally was?
If not, the ORCs have no way of knowing that it was edited back.

Yes, in fact I *DID* report that it had happened. At that point, I was chill, I was like "Oh, when the mod sees that, it'll be taken care of" and I reported it again. That was days ago. Oh, and the person is making thinly veiled personal attacks, which I have also reported with increasing irritation. I was polite until about the fourth or fifth time and figured, you know what? Forget it, they don't care.

Moderating quality has slid into the toilet in the past few years.

Really, you can do anything you want anyway as long as you're cool with using a new name.

I disagree, every post in which I have been called names that I find offensive that I reported were promptly dealt with. In addition, threads that contained numerous offenses of this sort were locked. The moderation here is not a joke. Like the internet, it is serious business.

Personally, I think this thread should be locked, but it is up to the moderators to make that decision, as all decisions on moderation should be made by those appointed and payed by the WotC.

The overwhelming majority of the time that I have come across a post that I think is against the CoC, I report it and it gets changed. The very few times when it hasn't been changed it is because it was on the edge and I was being safe, figuring that it is better that the WizO/ORC look at it and decide it isn't for themself.

If you have reported posts, and they don't get changed, maybe, just maybe, it is because they are not against the CoC.

I have gotten honest warnings for less than what this guy is posting.

Furthermore, if this is not against CoC, then my initial thesis stands: You can pretty much do whatever you want and no one will stop you.

I'm going to have to disagree with the OP. I've been posting here for about a year now, and over the last three or four months things have become a lot nicer. It has been A while since I have seen a blatantly baiting troll of a post.

I've had issues with certain posters a while back. I've had my post pulled for calling an obvious troll a troll. Quickly followed my removed post with a railing, ranting belittleing derisive on topic post that never got removed. At that time I thought COC was a joke. As long as you stay on topic, don't call anyone a troll, you can bend that COC in all kinds of disgusting forms.

But lately I have not found such blatantly troll baiting posts as there were a few months ago.

If your concerned about people being snarky or just rude, thats world wide web for you. Grow thicker skin. Don't post. As they say "you can't stand the heat don't enter the kitchen. that said you don't have to be rude and snarky if it isn't in you. If you want the boards to be friendlier start with the man in the mirror.

Wasn't it recently BANNED to talk about moderation? Let me check...

Ah, found it:

Well... yes you have a point there, but do the mods back this statement?

Wait so the people who make the problem worse should not be warned? You respond to a troll, you agitate him, then you are contributing to the problem and should be thrown out on your ass with him.

Hi Count,
Furthermore, if this is not against CoC, then my initial thesis stands: You can pretty much do whatever you want and no one will stop you.

If you are talking about all users in all of WotC's forums, then I believe more data is needed before your claim can be considered valid.

For exampke, my experience has been that if one even appears to be stepping out of line, their posts will get deleted, and fast at that.

There will be no warning, nor an explanation. Just !bam! and gone.

I keep tabs on these things as it relates to the FR Forums. There -if nowhere else- the CoC is enforced very strictly.

Note I'm not complaining about the moderation. In fact I'm starting to like it. It's good in its own way because it's netting positive results.

What I am saying that my direct experience does not support your "you can do whatever you want" claim.

I hope things start to turn out for the better for you on the forums you participate in.

The "with him" is the part that's not happening.

fine, but alteast throw out the troll TOO!!!! I'm not angry that wotc punishes the people who responds to trolls, I realize they are making the problem worse, BUT ATLEAST PUNISH THE TROLL TOO!!

IE: Create an IP ban to get rid of certain members

EDIT: Ninja'd

EDIT #2: Also, the joke is that axetank's perception of "rude" or "inflammatory" if actually adopted by the ORCS, would pretty much ban people from saying 4e is good...

I think I'll go back and get some quotes from the old board...

If a few Mods are not 4e fans, the chance that one goes rogue may be low, but it's happened on several board systems in the past (unrelated to this game, but still). I've started to suspect that maybe there are doppleganger Mod-Trolls. And, even if the Mod doesn't actually don the trollskin, lack of interest can really hamper enforcement.

They actually do care.

If the re-edited post is different enough to bring it out of Code of Conduct violation territory, then it's fine.

It's up to the ORCs to determine if something is a CoC violation or not.

As pointed out, if you have issues with CoC enforcement, contact CS.

Thread closed.

This is a preposterous accusation.

I want to disassociate myself from this statement. I may criticize the moderation policy, but the ORCs themselves are doing what they can with whatever little leeway their directives allow them.
