| #1krownhunter07Apr 04, 2009 10:41:16 | As of yesterday, the picture in my Sig started coming up as a link instead of showing up... I'm just wondering what I can do to fix that? Thank you. |
| #2lord_karsusApr 04, 2009 12:00:59 | -Thankfully, all pictures in signatures are gone. |
| #3krownhunter07Apr 04, 2009 12:04:38 | -Thankfully, all pictures in signatures are gone. So this was planed? If so, why allow a test that gives you a pic to put in your sig? |
| #4zammmApr 04, 2009 12:05:37 | WotC has turned off images in signatures for the time being and are currently discussing the issue amongst themselves. They allowed images in the first place in order to support the "What Class Are You?" promotion, but they wanted to curtail abuse (mainly from those people who objected to there being images in sigs at all, AFAICT) and so tried another way of doing it that was easier to control, but since that method doesn't work well with the promotion they dropped that too until they could find a solution. |
| #5lord_karsusApr 04, 2009 12:08:09 | -Enabling images: (A) links to outside sources, which technically can be a Code of Conduct violation, and (B) can be disruptive for some people, and not disruptive for others, based on what the image(s) in the signatures are, so that causes extra work on the part of the WizOs. Hopefully the people who are currently in charge "learned their lesson" in doing this, and realized why images were never allowed in signatures. |
| #6RUMPLESTIXApr 04, 2009 12:11:16 | If someone with a 1000 posts added a problematic pic that could be a lot of simultaneous violations. |
| #7krownhunter07Apr 04, 2009 12:12:11 | Thank you both for answering my questions. |
| #8lucifernietzscheApr 04, 2009 15:28:07 | Bummer. Guess it makes sense though. Oh well, fun while it lasted. Moving along. |
| #9ignis_fatuusApr 05, 2009 13:04:38 | Thanks for the info! I'll stop tyring to fix it now... :embarrass |
| #10ZherogApr 05, 2009 13:26:35 | Wouldn't the easy solution be to add those banner images as "smilies?" I mean, I know they're kinda large to be a traditional smiley, but that just seems like a quick and easy solution, if they want to allow the banners but nothing else. |
| #11DragonsWrathApr 07, 2009 18:21:50 | ![]() That's actually an ingenious solution. I had the idea of tweaking the sig to have an image slot similar to an avatar, but your idea would work too. I suppose the only problem is that it wouldn't allow for custom images for those who earn them, but it would be an excellent short-term fix. |
| #12ZherogApr 07, 2009 20:00:37 | I suppose the only problem is that it wouldn't allow for custom images for those who earn them, but it would be an excellent short-term fix. I'm not sure if the forum software would allow it, but it might be possible to turn images on for a select group rather than everybody. If so, the solution to this would be to stick those users into a group, similar to the existing "UnCon Prize Winner" group. |
| #13zammmApr 07, 2009 20:02:50 | I'm pretty sure that's possible in vBulletin--I believe MTGSalvation does something like that. |
| #14propaneApr 07, 2009 20:57:58 | Bring out the ASCII art. I personally prefer no images - they distract. |
| #15ZherogApr 07, 2009 21:46:00 | I prefer no images as well. But, in the end, it doesn't really matter to me any longer since I turned off sigs completely a few years ago. |
