| #1erk_Aug 28, 2009 21:28:24 | So, I literally cannot browse this forum on my netbook. It's stretched about 50% too wide; I have to sidescroll to read every single post of more than a few words. I don't give a dang about all the other complaints about style; this is entirely a technical issue. Drop the fixed width and make the forum resizable, or make a compact skin, please. 1224 is kinda ridiculous for a fixed width; not everyone uses desktops. Thanks. |
| #2mkillAug 28, 2009 21:41:01 | It's not just netbooks, have you tried reading this on an iPhone? AHG. Even normal laptops are a problem. What if you want more than one window open? Isn't "test it on 640x480" like Webdesign 101? |
| #3orbifoldAug 29, 2009 3:40:31 | This. Did anyone test this on different resolutions? |
| #4NifftAug 29, 2009 7:40:53 | The script in my sig fixes some of the fixed-width components -- not the top bar, but all the forum parts. Enjoy, -- N |
| #5AvinAug 29, 2009 9:34:04 | I won't spend much time here before they fix resolution... it's horrible |
| #6dieffenbachjAug 29, 2009 17:13:32 | I hadn't noticed this, since I have a widescreen, but I agree...
I'm a total newbie with designing websites, but for the 2 or 3 I've written up, even _I_ knew to check it on low res! |
| #7teknohippySep 01, 2009 11:28:48 | It's a problem for me on my netbook at 1024x600px. Even more of a problem on the iPhone, won't be accessing during a game then. I wonder if onesite have a simple compact theme that the WotC web guys could just drop in? Space between paragraphs is rediculously big as well! |
| #8erk_Sep 01, 2009 14:49:06 | So yeah, several days now. Effort required to change: A few small CSS fixes, est time 2 minutes. Effort invoked: 0. Beginning to highly doubt there will ever be a variable width or even 'compact mode' skin. |

800x600 is the current "standard" I generally see. I do have to say that even on a desktop the forum is unusually wide. Even on my iMac I keep my viewport around 1024 wide so I have a space beside my browser to put a video, a status bar, IM client, or really just any other task that I want to be monitoring at the same time, and I had to make my window wider in order to get rid of the scroll bar. And it's borderline unusable on an iPhone. |
| #10LFKSep 02, 2009 1:56:43 | I just shrunk my viewport to where penny-arcade just loses it's horizontal scroll bar, and it's terrible. I'm short space by almost 1/3 of this site. |
| #11chriscrouchSep 03, 2009 3:13:18 | I've got a decent sized monitor, but in portrait orientation. So I can't read this silly messageboard properly either :-( Chris |
