Because if I want to talk about Familiars, it's not a Controller-only topic.
And Martial groups don't consist of just Defenders.

May 10, 2009 16:13:17 I agree, if and only if they replace the role boards. The role boards are nice and all, but they are very constricting.

One good thing about the role boards is there are only 4 of them - Leader, Controller, Striker and Defender. There are many power sources, and soon to be more. Could become a bit messy (but if we're honest, messy forums would kinf of fit in here...)

May 10, 2009 16:49:08 I have to agree. I'd love to see an entire category devoted to the Power Sources. The reason I say category is because I'm sure there are people who never discuss the powers sources and would like to minimize it.

-The appropriate thread will depend on your specific question. If you're asking a technical question about say, a Fighter, who uses (I guess) the Martial Powers, it'd go in the Fighter section (whichever that is, I don't know). If you're asking a question about how to explain the source of the Martial Power in your game, it'd go in the What's a DM to Do? thread, or the 4e Campaign section. And so on, things like that. Context is the key; not everything needs it's own specific home.

The problem here is that certian power sources (all of them) are represented by different roles. For example: Both the wizard and warlock are arcane power sources but they are controller and striker roles respectively. So what if you wanted to talk about the arcane powers ource as a whole - which board controller or striker? - The simple answer would be general. But lets say you wanted to optimize something that is aviable to any class of a certian power source, say familiars. It's optimization, and thus should in one of the optimization boards. But you're optimizing soemthing that pretians to both strikers and controllers, and aren't sure which is best for you. Which board should it go on?

May 19, 2009 21:39:42 I agree with the OP on this suggestion. I haven't liked this bizarre forum mode of sectioning off the forums into Roles instead of by their Power Source, which makes more sense the more classes you introduce with more Sources.
