I logged in today and discovered that none of the threads I had been following had that pink-ish hue and number indicating that there were X new posts since I had last checked that thread.  None.  Was this a change or some sort of buggy deal?  All I know is that it ain't any kind of cool.

I too have noticed this problem. And yes it's annoying.

As soon as I see someone from WotC on, I will poke them about this.

Thanks, bunny.  I thought it may return after I read some threads and people posted in them today.  No such luck.

yeah, pretty annoying. when i first looked, i figured  i was logged out - usually at least half the threads of any given forum are somehow touched - not so this time. it still worked about 8 hours past, though.

I have let someone know. It is still early in Seattle (a little after 7am as of me writing this), so don't expect immediate results.

Could you also let them know that the site is crashing, too?  I keep getting IE can't load errors ...

I have let them know of that as well.

What version of IE are you using that gives you the error?

I believe we're on IE 8 here.  I mistyped the issue, though.  Not a load error, a page cannot be displayed thing.  Possibly an issue from this end.

Ah, and here I was thinking I broke something in my browser after setting up Windows 7.

So I'll just chime in: Needs fixing!

I'm wondering if they're changing it into something more... paletable. I remember a lot of people complaining about how ugly it was when they first released the new forum.

You can call me crazy - I am - but I do prefer ugly to nothing.  If it is being changed, one would appreciate it but also be forced to wonder why we couldn't endure the pink while we awaited its successor.

I've seen some people complain about it, so that might be it. Personally, I liked that feature. Ugliness doesn't matter very much to me (unless it's overwhelming), as long as it's easy on the eyes. I hope the pink, or something similar, shows up again in the future.

Careful - or next thing, you'll have a bunch of nerds proposing to you! Wink

Edit: And I don't want the April-fool-green back in any case...Yell

I am also experiencing the issue of no new post numbers and threads not coloring when read.

I noticed that this began after a short period of "the site is taking too long to respond" errors when trying to visit a few hours ago. It was working normally before that.

Fix for this is in the works - should go out with a build on Thursday.

It is likely that the process and time required to to do a rollback to before the feature got borked is longer/more involved than simply waiting for the next site upgrade tomorrow. Of course, that is assuming that WotC is in charge of doing said site upgrades. If, OTOH, it is OneSite who must ensure that all changes are done properly and that they are the ones that actually implement said changes, it may not be as simple as "do rollback".

Quick question: Will we be getting a broadcast tellin' us what this build did and when it's done?  The last time stuff was added/changed, we did get one and I thought it was a great idea.  Just curious if that's gonna happen again.

1) I agree that sometimes rolling stuff back is not a good idea - however, they are a company with lots of customers, they should be able to testrun this PROPERLY so that such serious issues do not come up over and over again.

2) on the contrary - if yxou hire someone exterior to your company, you should set up contracts that allow for exactly that - as a safety measure. not sure whether WOTC ever thought about falling back to previous systems, but maybe they'll learn something in the future - you do not deploy software unless you have a fallback system OR tested it well. everything else ends in disaster.

That's one of the fastest fixes I've seen in a long time here. Thank you very much.
