New to RPG forums, question about Path Finder...

Feb 21, 2012 14:20:25 Is Path Finder really considered D&D 3.75 like i keep hearing and if so is there a particular forum that i can talk about it on?

I tried playing 4th but in the end the system just didnt work out and i kind of quit after i was saced some 7-11 times in the same campaign and sold all my 4th E books and now i find pathfinder much more attractive as it doesnt have any of that 3 different Players handbook BS, just 7 main books and a slew of pamphlates.

For the record - Pathfinder is commonly referred to as D&D 3.75 but is not actually a D&D product. It's based on the design of D&D 3.5 and generally intended to be compatible but is made by a different company entirely.

Since it's not a WoTC product Pathfinder doesn't usually get discussed directly on these forums and you probably shouldn't post about it in the sections intended for D&D discussion. There is however a Pathfinder discussion group that would probably be happy to discuss the game. community.wizards.com/pathfinder
Since you can't get to the Paizo forums at school Neon, that's probably the next best thing for you.

And I have not met anyone who denies, disagrees, or objects to calling Pathfinder "D&D 3.75" so I felt no need to inform this poster who is six months and 267 posts into the Forums that he is technically "not correct". He asked about Pathfinder. I directed him to Paizo.

I don't disagree with calling it 3.75 and I don't object to you directing to the Paizo site, but is it really that uncommon to see someone stumble in from the fields and not know arse from hole about editions and publishers?
As for how long he's been here, for all I know 265 of his posts could have been on the MTG forums or any of the other boards.

I'm not mad though, I just want to see the softer side of Seeker95

Feb 23, 2012 9:43:22 Hey Guys, Celloshane, seeker actually helped alot, i was able to get a preveiw of what was in the Beginner box and get an thurogh run down of the core book, and for the record, yes, those 260 posts are from MTG, but i have played D&D for a steady year but was given a horrible first impression of it from a sac happy dragonborn cleric of Tiamat and his gung ho cult of Kobolds, and I tried playing a monk every time trying to make it work but i had to either be a stooge of the cult or sac fodder, you could almost say that i was bullied in that campaign.

I the end im going to try to get the money together to get the beginer box and core rule book, maybe the advanced player guide, if you have any objections please post.

Mar 01, 2012 16:18:42 The Pathfinder Group. Which, as far as I can tell, was created solely as a passive aggressive attack on 4e. It was started in 2009, the founder never did anything in the Group after it was created. Nobody worked on blogs, a wiki, or broadcasts. One forum was created, in which there are six threads, four of which have zero replies.

It was just started to see if it could get a large number of members to show how popular Pathfinder was compared to 4e. It got 175 members.

If you want to discuss Pathifinder, go to the Paizo website. There's a robust community there. EnWorld and RPG.net also have forums dedicated to Pathfinder.
