| #1tiamat5774Sep 29, 2008 22:12:51 | Is there even a chat room any more. The gleemax loading time is much longer that it used to be and when i click go for the chat room it gives me a "cannot display page" message. As is stated above, this has been going on for at least four months now. Any info on the matter would be appreciated. |
| #2wrecanSep 30, 2008 5:57:59 | The Announcement on the Main Page for the Wizards.COMmunity states:
Chat Update! Due to technical difficulties. all chat rooms are down until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience.
|
| #3FaleenaGreywindNov 06, 2008 1:42:22 | Technical difficulties is not good enough to ward off the thousand of avid gamers who utilize the only viable chat room on the internet. With that said, WOTC staff should work with the online community today, if not now, and give everyone a more fuller understanding why the Chat room has been down for so long. Not knowing when it will be back up is annoying and disappointing. Someone please give us a reason other than 'technical difficulties', thanks. |
| #4zammmNov 06, 2008 2:08:42 | According to my understanding, the server that the chat rooms were functioning on had been very shaky for quite a while; when it finally crashed, it crashed hard. So, with all of the other stuff that's been going up lately--DDI, the reorganization of the CM department, the new Gatherer on the Magic side, Magic Online v3--the chat server issue has been put on the back burner. They just haven't had the necessary resources to get a new chat server up and running on top of everything else they're doing. This may not be entirely accurate, though; it's mostly just my best guess. |
| #5trappedsliderNov 07, 2008 0:26:06 | some chatters have started to go over to here |
| #6MattDrozNov 07, 2008 13:58:16 | Not to mention that they are trying to build a Subscriber-only interface. Why bother trying to fix a free chat when they can build that and ask you to pay for it? |
| #7zeratulcraftNov 07, 2008 14:26:45 | Surely there's an IRC server/channel we could all go to? Or even set one up. mIRC is free, if you can put up with a whinge of "register me plz!" for 5 seconds each time you start it up. |
