| #1rasbadarJun 25, 2008 6:33:06 | Hi all! Why can't I see all archived articles? When I click on some links (I suspect these are the older articles) I just see a white page with no content (0 bytes). e.g. this link here: http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archi.../t-603384.html Is there any possibility to view those articles? Or do I have a browser problem? Best regards from good ole' Germany Ras |
| #2rasbadarJul 04, 2008 4:02:34 | *bump* Anyone? |
| #3hellmuteJul 04, 2008 13:55:16 | Symptons known, cure unknown and people went on vacation yesterday for the 4th until Monday.... |
| #4insatiumJul 06, 2008 12:16:23 | That link actually gave me a 404... |
| #5rasbadarJul 07, 2008 11:37:00 | Hi, this is an better example: http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-630188 |
| #6hellmuteJul 07, 2008 11:43:58 | Hi, 1- http://forums.gleemax.com/archive/index.php/t-603384.html 2- http://forums.gleemax.com/archive/index.php/t-630188.html http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-630188vs http://forums.gleemax.com/archive/index.php/t-630188.htmlMaybe those threads were just deleted, as I don't see them at all, or maybe hidden in an admin only section. How did you even come across the URL you are using as shown above??? |
| #7rasbadarJul 08, 2008 9:46:41 | Maybe those threads were just deleted, as I don't see them at all, or maybe hidden in an admin only section. Hi, I found these links (and many more of them) in the Thread "Index of RHoD Threads and Resource Links" : http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=855450There are many links in this thread which lead to these "empty" pages. I could not find a real pattern, but it seems that many links that contain "wotc_archive" are defective (e.g. http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-694319) . But I found also some other links to articled without "wotc_archive" that do not work properly. And there are some links that lead to a proper "article not found" page. I am just starting to DM this module (Red Hand of Doom) and I really would like to peruse these older articles. Is there any other place where this stuff is archived? regards |
| #8hellmuteJul 08, 2008 10:14:24 | I have no clue how it is archived. I jsut use the link at the bottom of the page that says Archive. http://forums.gleemax.com/archive/index.php |
| #9WotC_EricBJul 08, 2008 18:57:33 | Hi, Hi rasbadar, The problem looks to be that a lot of those threads are from forums that no longer exist. The archive process tries to check forum permissions to make sure you can see the thread as you would normally on the main forums, but it's determining the forum is missing so thus there are no permissions. I talked with a couple people and it sounds like it's OK to display the thread if the forum is missing, but I've got to see if I can modify the page to display it. Eric |
| #10rasbadarJul 09, 2008 7:12:56 | Hi Eric, it would be super-cool to show the contents, if they're still available in your database and it's just a permission problem. Just for further information: Interestingly, some links into the archive work properly. You should visit the RHoD-thread mentioned above and check the different versions of forum-URLs that work and don't work, there you will find plenty examples (with ..wotc_archive..., without it. links with t=nnnn and p=nnnn etc.). The only pattern I can see is that the older the article is, the higher ist the chance, that the blank page will be displayed. Thanks in advance for your support & kind regards Ras (from Munich/Germany) |
