Heh, nope. I noticed it all over the place. Been hangin' in the 5e areas a li'l lately and that's actually where I noticed it first. I'm guessing it's a way to hide who the newer people are. And that's lame.
It's about balance. That way you with you 20K+ post count don't make people with their 15v post count feel inadequate. Why you gotta hate on balance yo?
Cuz they didn't think it was a problem for over 23k posts and suddenly do now. It's one of the ways I amused myself and they took it from me. Lamers. Total lamers, man. Plus how is anyone supposed to know they have to listen to me now? I'm, like, gonna hafta try to post good stuff again or somethin'. Er ... nah. I never did that.
This way is better. Now everyone can post and feel like their posts count too. Before it was people who had huge post counts that counted. Now everyone can have fun. It like the forum re-org is a better design or something.

No, this is WoTC, you'll have to wait for forums.5 when they'll finally get to the avatars to make everyone feel the same. Unfortunately at the same time they willgive everyone all their posts back because they want to bring back the members that left the forums for compitor forums that kept the forum counts all along.

I personally would like my post count back... I paid for that DDI icon under my avatar, but I earned that post count - and as hard as it is to believe, I mostly earned it with constructive and helpful posts, good character advice and character pic requests, rather than snark, one-liners, random dead-celebrity alerts and mindless meanderings in the not-about-anything threads...
(Okay, I admit it, I'm just a lazy < bleep > - looking at those 4 numbers was just easier and less time-consuming than going back and looking at all my previous posts...)
Post counts may not be an absolute measure of what someone knows about a topic, especially when they start posting to a new zone after YEARS of posting other places, but it does help pick out newbies who may not be familiar with certain terminology used on a given board. I'll also say that just because someone has a low post count that doesn't mean their contributions are worthless; they may get a touch more scrutiny by you shouldn't believe everything you read anyway.
I'd also say that titles and all those pretty little icons underneath some members avatar don't mean a thing. Ok, maybe they do in certain places but there are other places on the boards where no-one who posts regularly has a title, an icon, or any idea that those thing are even available much less applicable to that section of the boards. This may represent a touch of ego but I've been a figure on the SWRPG board for years but how would a flyby poster have clue about that to know if the information they are getting is correct?
Looking at the earlier posters on this thread the only names I recognize are Seeker95 (from a long time ago) and wrecam and the Orc although these last two are mostly by reputation and associated titles.
Is there any reason for removing them beyond just 'because we can'?
I also still miss seeing where people come from in the world. *sigh*
