#1 The_Silversword Aug 20, 2011 23:34:38	OK, so in this thread, community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758... someone was asking about LEGAL downloads of 2e stuff. Now me being the nice guy that I am posted this link: Now these are the same PDFs that WotC made available as free downloads, but a couplea years back during site restructing or whatever the linkys to them were broken, but the files are still there. Anyway I was modded for posting that link to files on WotC's OWN site, so are they no longer free to download? or legal? If that is the case then those files should be removed. Ive never heard anyone from WotC say that they were no longer legal to download. So whats the deal on that? If the files are still there, then it makes since to me that you should still be able to access them, otherwise why even have them there in the first place???

[edit] After seeing the posts in question, it could be the mod had tunnel vision and missing the huge signs posted that the where complied links from the old WotC site.
#3 jetshield Aug 21, 2011 7:07:55	The files wouldn't even need to be deleted. Just a simple directory rename would break any links to them. Maybe it's because you linked offsite? No, that can't be it. A lot of people link offsite for a lot of reasons and don't get modded for it. I dunno, man, maybe he just saw the word "download" and slammed the panic button.

It is possible that this is intentional -- that the links on the WotC site are purposely broken. Just because a file is on the WotC server does not mean it is for public access. (Yes, this is a careless way to end access, but that is another matter entirely.) Your link to his site gives access to material that is not accessible via WotC links. However, *if* this is the case, it is my opinion that the powers-that-be did a bad thing in NOT giving you a detailed explanation.

Log into www.wizards.com/customerservice with your forums log in information, then head to the "Ask a Question" tab and select "Wizards.com Website" from the pull down, then "Website Questions" and from there choose the next topic and fill out the rest of the form. You may need to check your junk or spam folder for any replies. If you cannot find replies then you can log into the same site, click on the My Stuff tab, then look at Questions and see the status of your incident. If you click on the incident subject line you'll be able to see any replies from Customer Service you may have missed in your inbox. This is also a great place to submit suggestions. Hope that helps.
