| #1october_darknessJul 17, 2009 19:28:13 | Every time I try to pull up the D&D forums, Firefox won't work for me. I have to use IE 8, which is not my preferred browser.![]() |
| #2ZherogJul 17, 2009 19:39:21 | Can you give more detail, such as what happens when you try? |
| #3jlaurhughes_dupJul 17, 2009 20:06:14 | Probably the same thing that happened to me earlier when I tried to get into the forums, all my subscribed threads and links into the forum itself didn't exist. And I couldn't access the forums at all. But I just waited for a while and tried again. |
| #4pyro_azerJul 17, 2009 20:40:47 | I'm on firefox right now and it's fine |
| #5sirkaikillahJul 17, 2009 21:43:34 | I'm using firefox and no problems. |
| #6riddling-reaverJul 18, 2009 11:02:52 | Well I have. For the last few days I've had trouble logging in, with the forum telling me I do not have permission to access this page. Intermittent, but annoying. |
| #7ZherogJul 18, 2009 11:53:44 | That's a recurrent problem, unfortunately. It hasn't happened in a while, but has happened several times this past week. The only thing you can do is wait a little while and try again. It's not a problem with your account or your PC, though. When it happens, it happens to everybody. |
| #8DuskweaverJul 18, 2009 12:05:00 | There was a period of a week or so a couple of months back when I couldn't access the forums at all with Firefox (got an infinite redirect loop) but could get in fine with IE. I've been getting the "you don't have permission" message with both browsers all day today, but it seems OK again now (obviously, otherwise I couldn't post this). And I get that annoying "Forums are down for maintenance" message at some point roughly every second or third time I try to access this place. My gut feeling is that none of this is down to anything happening at my end. My pet theory is that Ted "Series of Tubes" Stevens took the job of running the technical side of things here after he retired from the US Senate... ;) |
| #9minerffaJul 18, 2009 12:14:43 | I was wondering what was going on. Thank goodness - I thought I'd been booted. |
| #10calronmoonflowerJul 18, 2009 13:50:55 | Well I have. For the last few days I've had trouble logging in, with the forum telling me I do not have permission to access this page. Intermittent, but annoying. That is a type of forum crash. It also boots your subscribed threads until that is fixed as well. |
| #11ZherogJul 18, 2009 14:09:42 | That is a type of forum crash. It also boots your subscribed threads until that is fixed as well. This only happens if you attempt to access your subscribed threads during the glitch. |
| #12sotp_seamusJul 18, 2009 16:05:03 | Oh, good, it's not just me. I was afraid I had broken the Internet. |
| #13scipioJul 18, 2009 16:40:46 | Oh, good, it's not just me. I was afraid I had broken the Internet. I'd wondered about the permissions glitch. I've gotten it more times than I could remember, and figured it was just a problem with the forum software or something else on the server side of things. Guess I was right. |
| #14pseudonymJul 18, 2009 18:01:08 | So the fix is that it will go away on its own? I'm getting the "Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete." message so had to resort to using Opera. I'm not trying to view any subscribed threads, even the root URL is generating that error. |
| #15ZherogJul 18, 2009 18:51:06 | The "You don't have permission" bug goes away as soon as the tech crew knows there's a problem and they go in and kick the server. Or something like that. I've never seen the redirect loop error, so I can't say what causes that. I don't know if it's related to the permission problem, or a whole different animal. |
| #16fdlJul 19, 2009 1:08:15 | Good to know it wasn't just me...I was getting paranoid ![]() |
| #17PinkRoseJul 19, 2009 10:32:58 | I'm getting the redirect loop error as well. Since the forums went down on Friday. Using IE right now to post this. Yesterday I was past the redirect loop, but was stuck with the permission error. Send someone to kick something, please. |
