Report Post Suggestion

I think it'd be a good idea to include in the "report post" blurb that it's also for suggesting that the post is simply in the wrong forum.

However, I realize this may flood the WizO's with even more PMs, so I'd suggest some kind of drop-down box for "reason for reporting" which could include "posted in wrong forum" as well as the basic "harassment" and what-not. This way it can be separated in the WizO's emails so they know what ones are more urgent (the harassing/trolling reports, of course) and take care of those before focusing on moving threads.

Then again I'm not sure how the "power structure" works here. If someone else is responsible for moving/editing threads, then GREAT, the dropdown menu can actually determine who gets the PM! Eh? Whadya think?

I think this is a good idea because it makes moderation easier for the moderators, and allows the forum posters a little bit of self-moderation almost. I know I'd certainly love to help out, as I'm always seem homebrew stuff outside of the House rules forum.

The WizOs only handle CoC violations. Thread edits and moves go to the VCL of the area.

Who actually moves the threads? VCL or WizO's?

VCLs request that the thread be moved. The WizOs actually do the moving.

VCLs have *no* personal moderation ability at all. We cannot alter posts, we cannot lock posts, we cannot move posts, we cannot delete posts

Of course you mean MOST VCL's, as one obviously does have moderation ability and CAN lock/move/etc posts/threads/accounts.

How does one tell the VCL of an area as there is no list except on each forum that has "Games Moderator" listed as the moderator where it should have a list of actual users that fill that position such as VCL for an area?

That is why that funciton exists to allow users to know who to report things to for an area, but WotC altered it to make it a pretty much useless function, so how do you know exactly what VCL is for what subforum?

No. No VCL can do that. VCL accounts do not have the ability to do those things. When Webster is logged in as Webster, he does not have the ability to do things that require the level of access of a WizO.

You go to the forum that has been indicated to you at least once by me, and several times by other posters.

The forum titled Volunteer Community Lead Program Open Discussion. Once in that forum, you look at the sticky post with the title VCL Task List. That gives you the list of who is VCL for what section. That is the same forum that you go to if you have a complaint to make about CM.

It doesn't matter, Webster under that name is only a VCL, however webster is ONE real world person, meaning that one real world person has ability to do so with the title of CS and VCL.

Do you not understand that?

One physical person has more power than any other single person on this forum, as both one who can decide and act on anything. It violates any concept of checks and balances there may be in separating the duties between CM and CS. Which makes webster and his WizO account omnipotent on these forums.

(Did you get that PM or did I screw up to CC part?)

I do. However, any VCL request, be it a lock, thread move, thread delete, or removal of spam posts, have to be placed in the thread here. No other option.

WizOs act on reported posts and tasks as requested by VCLs in the VCL request thread. That's it. They don't have time to "stalk" an individual poster and follow each and every one of their posts. If a poster is having their posts edited more often by the WizOs, chances are it is because the things that they are posting violate the CoC, and other posters are reporting them via the "report" button. That's it. There is no conspiracy.

You would be correct, except for the fact that all WizO actions are recorded in their moderation system, and all VCL requests are logged in the thread I pointed you to.

Except webster does NOT make request in that thread, and acts on them. Meaning that thread does not include any requests made by webster, just that other requests have been taklen care of, meaning webster does NOT make request, nor has to and can does as he pleases.

Also your link in the above post does not go to a the VCL/Forum lead suggestiosn thread, but a forum.

sigh

The D&D and D&D 4E Forum Lead Suggestions thread is a thread where anyone who has things they would like done (threads moved, cleaned up, stickied, unstickied, etc) can post a request to and Webster will look at it. I know that you know what that thread is for, because you have posted there.

Meaning that thread does not include any requests made by webster, just that other requests have been taklen care of, meaning webster does NOT make request, nor has to and can does as he pleases.

As I mentioned above, that thread (D&D & D&D 4E FL Suggestions) is for people to make suggestions for Webster. Look at the very first post in the thread:
If you have any suggestions for the D&D or D&D 4E forums, please post them here. This is where the current VCL will look to decide on what requests should be executed. Examples would include opening, closing, moving, or sticky-ing threads.

Now, to me, that is very clear what the purpose of that particular thread is for.

If you look at the thread here (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=985913&page=48, located in the Wizards.COMmunity forum, which you have been told that you should look at, under Wizards.COMmunity > Community HQ > VCL Coordination), you will see that Webster does have to make all of his requests in writing, exactly the same as every other VCL, for everyone to see.

Also your link in the above post does not go to a the VCL/Forum lead suggestiosn thread, but a forum.

Thanks, fixed it.

Why the hell have two places for the same thing. Why do VCLs and forum leads need to post in both places.

Seems a most inefficient way of doing things, but that seems to be the norm around here.

Actually pretty dumb to not have all such requests in the forum they are related to for ALL people to be able to see what is going on, rather than have it hidden elsewhere where yet again people may not know of.

I don't go outside of the D&D forum and have no need to, so anything dealing with the D&D forum should be within it.

Then everyone will know where crap belongs: users, VCLs, WizO's, WotC's, etc.....

If the forums are getting reorganized, then it needs to be done right, and this is one thing that shoudl be done for all, as MANY fear posting in the thread here for VCL suggestions as it looks like it is only for VCLs to post in.

More Gamer_zer0 screw ups that need to be resolved ASAP.

FLs/FGs do not have the authority to request that the WizOs take actions. Only VCLs do. Hence the thread where FLs/FGs as well as any other poster can make a request to the VCL. The VCL then considers the request and submits the ones that s/he considers valid to the WizOs to carry out. When they have time in between actioning reported posts, they look at the VCL requests.

Actually pretty dumb to not have all such requests in the forum they are related to for ALL people to be able to see what is going on, rather than have it hidden elsewhere where yet again people may not know of.

Nope. It works quite nicely this way. All of the requests made by the VCLs are in one central spot so that it is easy, convenient and efficient for the WizOs to take care of. No need to wander from forum to forum. As for the users knowing what is being done. You posted in (and are still posting in) Webster's thread where he said he is going to be explaining any further actions he takes with respect to thread moves, etc.

I don't go outside of the D&D forum and have no need to, so anything dealing with the D&D forum should be within it.

The fact that you have made the choice to ignore people telling you where to go to find out information on a program is not an indication of a flaw in the program.
