The Rec Room was pretty much the only place where fans of every game, every genre, on the forums met together. It was a great place for cross-pollination of gamers and ideas and now, sadly, is pretty much a forgotten relic or a bygone era. It is my firm belief that, for the betterment of the forums as a whole, the best option would be to close all the separate Off Topic forums and redirect that traffic back to a restored and active Rec Room. Please, consider it. |

Just wanted to toss in my opinion. EDIT: I wanted to clarify that my desire to keep the Tavern open, as it were, is in no way at odds with a re-opening of the Rec Room. A place where players of all the varied games can gather can't be anything but a good thing, IMO, for the reasons Boraxe listed. |

It has lead to compartmentalization and dissolution of the larger WotC forum community as a whole. The Rec Room has been around since '03 or '04, long before the OTT and other Off Topic sub-forums. |

The addition of Groups makes it even more fractured, too. I can see the point for consolidation and the possible benefits thereof, I just never liked the Rec Room and am quite partial to the Tavern. So ... yes, purely selfish reasons. |
