So is there any way to pass the word to the developers or to someone who can actually answer the question of 3 Dimensional Rules?

In the last two weeks, I've seen about a dozen or more threads about battle in the air, rules for teleportation into the air, flying in general, and using powers in the air.

It would be nice to get an actually official answer at some point cause all this debating is making me dizzy... haha!

Please and thank you!

There aren't really rules on it, which is what customer service has consistently said when asked. There is no official answer because there is no official rule.

I'm confused, because I thought there were explicit rules for this stuff.

DMG 47 covers flying, I don't see where there is confusion here.

PHB 286 covers teleportation: You can teleport to a square as long as you can see it. This means that you can teleport into the air if you really want to, but you'll immediately fall back to the ground if there's nothing to support you.

Aerial combat is covered by DMG 47-8.

What confusion is there for using powers in the air? Range is simple to calculate, simply because you calculate any square adjacent to you as one square away, in any dimension.

What is there to be confused about?

To add to Ostrakon's list of things already well defined, it's also plainly the case that area affects are cubes (an extension of the range in any square rule).

On top of the already wholly adequate 3-d combat rules in the DMG, I've expanded upon 3d terrain on my own site:
