Slow to load

Apr 06, 2010 8:13:55 Ok first off, no it is not me, I get fast load speeds on all manner of web sites. Some days those sites are a bit slower, but it is not a constant.

In general I use my Google home page as my yard stick. If it takes a few extra moments to load, I suspect my service not the web.

But it ALWAYS takes this forum a lengthy load time. There is no such thing as prompt load times here.

Just curious if it is that it is 'Beta' (it's been Beta since I joined, are they planning to not be Beta any time soon?).

Not that my life is in peril if it takes me a whole 20 seconds to load this site. But I do tend to wonder, why is it so slow?

Apr 06, 2010 15:20:38 Two things on this site slow it down for me. The first is the damnable ESRB connection. The other is the "hitbox" -- whatever that is. Occasionally, Google's traffic stats will also lag.

We've found one problem with an old theme that was causing slowness for some people. To see if this is your problem, go to "Profile," click "Theme Selection," and select a theme (any theme). Refresh the page. You *may* need to log out and back in or clear your cache/cookies to see a change.

Please let me know if this does (or doesn't) solve the problem.

Apr 20, 2010 17:25:41 Nah, the forum{s} always take a long time to initially load, regardless of a "changed theme" or not. I've tried accessing the forum{s} with different machines, at different addresses and connections. The forum{s} are just slow to load in general. As for the COMMUNITY BETA business, expect Hell to freeze over first.

I have mine set to redownload pages when I start my browser.
That means if I visit twice without closing my browser, it loads quicker the second time.
