Hiya, not sure which subforum to use but have a problem that needs to be scratched.

Page 218 of the Players Handbook:

Scimitar, is currently +2 proficiency bonus... the warpick is high crit and versatile and +2 and does the same dice worth of damage. Shouldn't the scimitar be +3 proficiency bonus?

Glaive, same problem. Asides from it's damage dice it is virtually identical to the longspear and the halberd. Halberd and longspear do 1d10 and have +2 proficiency... Glaive has +2 proficiency and does 2d4... something ain't right here.

Please do tell when this will be fixed.

The scimitar is the longsword of small people, and the longspear is a spear that has a lower min damage and higher max damage, and the glaive is a heavy blade with a higher min damage and lower max damage.

The scimitar is the longsword of small people,

Exactly, and it isn't +3. The warpick is a much better choice for most characters.

Have you checked out the damage dice chart on the next page? If the glaive is meant to be balanced with the halberd and longspear, it should have either the same damage dice, or a +3 proficiency bonus.... it's just nerfed right now.

Small characters get worse weapons.

Who cares about the chart. You trade high max damage for high min damage, or vice versa.

With the Gauntlets of Destruction and a Vopal Glaive, you would be suprized how powerful 2d4 can be.

Scimitar is a better choice for small characters because they can use it in one hand. War pick takes up both hands with NO compensation for small characters.

Versatile is a sort of give & take quality. I think it was put there as an easy way to tell players what weapons could be used by small characters one-handed and two-handed. The extra +1 to damage for Medium characters is really a wash because an ACTUAL 2-handed weapon is better.

The Scimitar also gets Scimitar Dance.

As far as the Glaive-- it can get both Heavy Blade Opportunity and Polearm Gamble. No other weapon can get both of those. The important part of this is that it's the only Reach weapon that gets Heavy Blade Opportunity.
