The block feature is kinda useless if it still lets you see 25% of the stupid.
I have about 12-15 people on my block list. As the list grows it seems that the boards are more selective about when it blocks those people's posts. In some threads, Block X will not show, while Block Y does, then in a different thread, X will show while Y will not.

I'm in the same boat, with about ten times as many people I don't care about (though most of them don't post at all anymore).
Posting here might get a VCL to push this with WotC, but unless that happens they are not likely to hear about it from this thread. I suggest that everyone with this problem e-mail Customer Service and include as much detail as possible.

I'm just excited to discover that there is an ignore equiv, period. I haven't been on these boards for very long but have already built up a list of posters who I would rather be blissfully ignorant of their existance but I'll settle for 75% less of them for the moment.

I have no idea what that's supposed to mean, since a number of us are seeing some-but-not-all posts blocked in the forums, once we've blocked someone. I followed up with them, providing a screenshot of an actual blocked post on an actual public forum. Not heard a response yet.
Update your complaint with the info that posts are sometimes blocked by the ignore feature and attach the screen caps to prove it.
The “block” function prevents the member from contacting you. It does not block their posts from your view. If it appears to be blocking posts from time to time, it is likely that those posts were moderated. If someone is abusing the code of conduct, please report the post and/or the user.

Looks like a feature that we didn't specifically ask for (at least not recently), but that we quietly got as a benefit of work done for the whole platform. I will pass this along to the forums developer and we will sort out the bug.

It might not have been added. It could be a part of the standard package and the feature overlooked.

Not usually, which is why I too-confidently described how the block feature used to work without double checking to see if there was a change I wasn't aware of. There are two kinds of feature enhancements we get to our site: The ones that we request, plan, and schedule, and the ones that we get "for free" as a benefit of working with a software as a service company that regularly makes upgrades for other clients or to improve their core platform. We are usually notified of both kinds of changes before they roll out, but sometimes one slips through.
To clarify, I'm not trying to remove the feature (we've had many requests to have "block user" work like the vBulletin forums did), I'm just looking into why it doesn't work consistently.

That's fair
We got many requests for an ignore feature right when we launched because block user *didn't* work that way. I looked into it at the time & we weren't able to get it changed then. I'm glad that it has rolled out despite the confusion, and I didn't notice because I don't ignore people on the site
