| #1koolaidmanNov 24, 2009 10:41:33 | About 5 weeks ago, I got a 24 hour ban, which I deserved and the first time I've gotten one. Once the ban was over, I couldn't log back onto the forums. I could log onto the site, but each time I tried to log onto the forums, at the login window, it would go through the motions, then just sit there saying it was done, but still on the login screen. So I tried to use the help feature, which doesn't work. I tried using the email me tab, which kept giving me an error. First, is it really so hard to just include the email on the contact us screen? I understand you want to route emails to the person best to handle, but that means that feature has to work. I've tried clearling cookies and passwords, different browsers and computers all with the same results, which makes me think that who ever applied the 24 hour time out, didn't do it right. I've called several times. Let me say this first, STOP USING INDIA. Trust me, I love India. But when someone with a heavy accent named "Alex" answers, and I can't understand them to answer thier questions, I end up not being able to get helped. So I called DDI billing, out of desperation, and got Paul, who said he couldn't help me, but would send in a request ticket, and he did, cause I got the email he sent in. In the email, it said someone would get in contact with me in 24-48 hours. But that never happened. So after 48 hours, I replied to the email, because it said in the email I could do that. Three times I replied, and never heard anything back. So I created a whole new account here, just so I could try contacting the WoTC staff that I know visit the site alot. I'm sure they get a lot of Messages, but that was over a day ago, and I know I've gotten responses on my old account within hours, so waiting some 24+ hours and not hearing anything is frustrating. So here it is, over 5 weeks, still can't login on my proper account, I've contacted WoTC many times, giving them all the information and have heard nothing but crickets. This is not how you treat a customer. The lack of response is horrible. The lack of working features on your site, is even more horrible. So, what are you going to do, WoTC, to fix my account, and keep me as a customer? Signed, Not really Kool Aid Man. |
| #2mudbunnyNov 24, 2009 10:58:57 | I will poke WotC when I see them on today so that they can fuind out what happened to your account. |
| #3koolaidmanNov 24, 2009 12:40:32 | Thanks for taking an interest, mudbunny. |
| #4WebsterNov 24, 2009 22:19:48 | If you post here- community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758..., someone will be able to help you. |
| #5koolaidmanNov 25, 2009 5:48:37 | If you post here- community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758..., someone will be able to help you. Some is looking into it, the problem is my account. |
| #6calronmoonflowerNov 25, 2009 16:01:27 | If you post here- community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758..., someone will be able to help you. That link is for fixing the customer service error that you experienced on this account. If fixed it would allow you to contact customer service directly. |
| #7dougdubNov 28, 2009 23:27:13 | Well, I tried logging in about a hundred times after my ban ended and it wouldn't let me. I cleared my browser and restarted a number of times. No luck. So, what am I supposed to do? CS has always been slow as dirt answering my questions. So what am I supposed to do? They told me they would get back to me within 24-48 hours if not less about a particular subject a few days back. Still waiting. So, just how am I supposed to fix the log-in problem? |
| #8calronmoonflowerNov 28, 2009 23:46:42 | Well, I tried logging in about a hundred times after my ban ended and it wouldn't let me. I cleared my browser and restarted a number of times. No luck. The holiday weekend migth have slowed them down. Give it one or two business days. If too much time passes, you could try contacting customer service again ask them to pass the complaint to WotC_Trevor, the head of community team. |
| #9dougdubNov 28, 2009 23:58:25 | Well, I tried logging in about a hundred times after my ban ended and it wouldn't let me. I cleared my browser and restarted a number of times. No luck. That might be reasonable advice for the CS submission that I am waiting on but it does not seem like a good fix for not being able to log into my account. Seeing as how I have games and such that I participate in. :-( |
| #10dougdubNov 29, 2009 10:45:47 | I sent a submission in to CS last night that I could not log-in and explained that it was after a temp ban of 72 hours. I then received a response that my account should be active shortly. Ten hours later, I still cannot log-in to my account. WTF? |
| #11dougdubNov 29, 2009 11:38:21 | So, I sent a second CS submission in and it was responded to by Nashira within ten minutes and left open. I was then able to log-in. It took ten minutes to be solved and a response made. But, when I sent my first CS submission in it was responded to saying that I would have my problem fixed shortly and closed. Ten hours later it was still not fixed. I think it is sad when CS is deliberately jerking people around but that is what has been happening lately it appears. |
| #12calronmoonflowerNov 29, 2009 16:14:07 | Well you could fill out that questionnaire that they link to you and give them a bad review. |
| #13dougdubNov 29, 2009 17:12:14 | Well you could fill out that questionnaire that they link to you and give them a bad review. The problem is that half the time my link to the questionnaire was broken and it took a while (counting getting over the annoyance...) to actually dig the address out of the html jumble. The other half the time there would be a statement that they would appreciate my feedback without a link to the questionnaire at all. Then there would be log-in instructions which sometimes had a good link and sometimes had a broken one. Not even getting a questionnaire link following asking for my feedback is really annoying. I think that has been fixed, at least for now. |
| #14dougdubDec 01, 2009 16:37:42 | Well you could fill out that questionnaire that they link to you and give them a bad review. After going into detail about how I am being jerked around in a submission I had active that was different than my submission trying to get them to "remember" to reactivate my account I received a long response that all the problems I listed were coincidences and that I should accept that. Then there was this phrase: "We would appreciate your feedback on the service we are providing you." It was followed by a link that said: [url=http://deploy.ztelligence.com/start/survey/no_survey_found.jsp?PIN=13B6KXTAC4YE4>Please%20click%20here%20to%20fill%20out%20a%20short%20questionnaire.To%20login%20to%20your%20account,%20or%20update%20your%20question%20please%20 The page? "No survey found" Unbelievable. |
| #15dougdubDec 01, 2009 16:39:05 | It was kind of like this: "No, don't be silly. We are not jerking you around. Here, fill out this questionnaire. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA |
| #16drnickDec 01, 2009 17:01:04 | Not to dismiss your frustration but it's actually kind of funny. |
| #17dougdubDec 01, 2009 17:16:07 |
Yeah, I know. I think the link bit is not a case of being jerked around unlike some of the other things. But, it is very ironic. ![]() |
| #18dougdubDec 02, 2009 19:13:11 | I don't see anyway of denying it anymore. CS is deliberately jerking me around. Case in point. I report a post for flaming and for masking. That was two hours ago. It was ignored. Perhaps it wasn't really desrving of moderation you might say? Well, I am going to repost it. I hope that I don't get in trouble for making a post that violates the Coc. But, then again, why should the repost be a violation if the original is not? Here it is: As much of an injustice and hypocrisy Prop 8 is, it is giving a lot of strength to the gay-rights movement. Because Prop 8 is not retroactive, any same-sex couples who wish to be married must stay married. Even is a relationship does not workout, the statement of the marriage certificate is such that they will endure a loveless marriage - like a good, wholesome 50's strait couple. Prop 8 is likely going to be repealed (the narrow margin of success gives it a chance to to be repealed sooner then latter, by a legal technicality), and history would likely remember these events much in the same way as people remember Saint Valentine's martyrdom for marring off couples during a marriage ban in Roman. I guess that they can argue that calling those who support prop 8 hypocrits is not the type of flaming that starts flamewars. Well in this case it is not because posters don't want to be called a bigot over and over by all those posters in the thread who make no bones about the fact that any who disagree with them are bigots who don't believe in civil rights. But, political threads aren't banned right? No flaming at all in that political thread. Why should CS think there is flaming? /snark. But, notice the blatant masking? I explicitly pointed it out but it doesn't warrant a notice by CS because I was the one who pointed it out. Because they jerk me around. That will make WotC lose customers. In fact, I am going to cancel my DDI membership shortly because of CS. I will just hang around to make sure they don't try to keep charging my account afterward. See ya! |
| #19dougdubDec 02, 2009 19:36:04 | Jan 26th 2009 I paid for a year up front of DDI based upon the Character Builder alone. it exceeded my expectations but I canceled my renewal anyway. One lost customer of DDI thanks to CS jerking me around. Does it mean anything to WotC. Nope because I am an ant. But, it does mean something to me. See ya. |
| #20Seeker95Dec 02, 2009 20:27:57 | Bye doug; we hardly knew ya. |
| #21mudbunnyDec 02, 2009 22:01:07 | I don't see anyway of denying it anymore. I highly doubt it. I report a post for flaming and for masking. How did you report it? Did you report it using the "report post" button that is at the top of every forum post? That gets the post to WotC CS to be looked at. Just a couple of notes
|
| #22dougdubDec 02, 2009 22:10:23 | I don't see anyway of denying it anymore. 1. I reported it using the report button and I pasted into the report the part with the masking and followed it by stating that there was masking. Then I described the flaming. So, where did I not do it right? 2. Masking is what I think it is. The poster took the term for a for a female dog and replaced the "i" with an exclamation point. That is masking. That is even how you described maskingLook more closely at the quote and you will see it. 3. I already noted it in the VCL thread. |
| #23mudbunnyDec 02, 2009 22:17:53 |
YOu did everything right. It is entirely possible that a) the ORCs are busy or have a large backlog and haven't gotten to your report yet; or b) They don't see anything in the thread against the CoC. 2. Masking is what I think it is. The poster took the term for a for a female dog and replaced the "i" with an exclamation point. That is masking. That is even how you described maskingLook more closely at the quote and you will see it. Ahh, I see that now. My apologies. I am reasonably certain that bitches is not a term that is censored by the profanity filter. edit to add - Nope, not considered profanity by WotC. 3. I already noted it in the VCL thread. I see that you did. All you can do is wait. As I said, if the ORCs determine that it is not against the CoC, there is nothing that they can do. It is not in their job description nor is it in their responsabilities. Webster, when he gets one (usually around midnightish IIRC), will look at the thread you linked to and determine whether or not it should be or needs to be locked. |
| #24dougdubDec 02, 2009 22:18:44 | testing b!tch bitch Any difference? So, that is a new one. Bitch used to get sensored but now it doesn't. So, now it is ok to call people bitches? That is what the post did. Or is it a glitch that the ORCs should have picked up on? |
| #25dougdubDec 02, 2009 22:23:16 | Bitch was filtered in the past. So don't tell me that WotC just doesn't think it needs filtering. That is especially true considering how this word was used. More testing... |
| #26dougdubDec 02, 2009 22:27:25 | How about this (boldness added): America has too many conservatives over all. I mean we cant even have gay people serve openly in the military WTF? You think they would have at least fixed that. Then again how the republican party and conservatives have any credibility with anyone at this point is beyond me. But thats a different story. Most people believe what they are told by morons who say it would hurt them somehow if gays and lesbians got married. Morons. They removed the inner post for being flaming but forgot to remove the post that quoted it in its entirety. I am pretty sure that I reported both rather than just the one deleted. It is useless to delete one without deleting both. |
| #27WebsterDec 02, 2009 22:29:35 | I'd suggest not testing the filters. That's a no-no. ![]() |
| #28dougdubDec 02, 2009 22:29:41 | Did I mention the reports were 5 hours ago so backlog is not a good reason... |
| #29WebsterDec 02, 2009 22:30:55 | Actually yes. There was a slowdown with the reporting system today. |
| #30mudbunnyDec 02, 2009 22:32:35 | They removed the inner post for being flaming but forgot to remove the post that quoted it in its entirety. I am pretty sure that I reported both rather than just the one deleted. It is useless to delete one without deleting both. My guess - They missed it. ORCs are not infallible, they make mistakes. So, according to your post, you reported some posts, and they got moderated. However, it appears that, according to you, the ORCs missed one. The response is fairly simple - Just report it again, and mention that the OP was moderated, but that this post, which quotes a moderated post, was missed. |
| #31dougdubDec 02, 2009 22:41:13 | They removed the inner post for being flaming but forgot to remove the post that quoted it in its entirety. I am pretty sure that I reported both rather than just the one deleted. It is useless to delete one without deleting both. No, the orcs missed several. I can live with that if they bother to post a warning. But, they posted no warning whatsoever. So, to figure out if they did anything I had to sift back through the thread and that is a waste of my time. Simple fix. Post a warning. further, bitch has been a filtered word in the past. That is why the person masked it. The filter not catching something does not mean that it is not profane or not flaming. Read the post. it is obviously flaming to any who disagrees as is the whole tenor of the thread. Further, ORCs have time and again moderated threads for being political with no direction from the VCL. I know that for a fact. So, considering the flaming tenor of the thread I find it too convenient to have been ignored. What if I were note that a post which call another poster a liar, a whiner and (explicitly) an ass three times over apparently wasn't bad enough to moderate because I reported it? |
| #32mudbunnyDec 02, 2009 22:51:40 | No, the orcs missed several. Then they missed several or thought that there were several that you thought were CoC violations that weren't. Further, ORCs have time and again moderated threads for being political with no direction from the VCL. I know that for a fact. So, considering the flaming tenor of the thread I find it too convenient to have been ignored. As Webster noted, the reporting system was having problems tonight and was slow. So, chances are very good that they simply hadn't gotten to it yet. And, for the record, if an ORC finds a thread that is political, and it has gotten a number of reports, they will lock it and ask the VCL whether it should stay locked or not. So, the chances are very good that, due to the slowdown in the reporting system, they simply hadn't gotten to the point where they would close it and kick it over to Webster to look at. What if I were note that a post which call another poster a liar, a whiner and (explicitly) an ass three times over apparently wasn't bad enough to moderate because I reported it? Then I would say that cances are very good that the ORCs hadn't gotten to your report yet. Trust me when I say that, no matter how much it appears that the ORCs are deliberately ignoring your reports, they are not. I can guarantee that. If however, you feel that they are, then go here and choose Wizards.com -> Wizards.com Community -> Other, and note that you are having a problem with the moderation of the ORCs. Your complaint will get sent to people who are responsible for supervising the ORCs. As always, make sure that, should you decide to do so, your comments are polite. |
| #33dougdubDec 02, 2009 23:24:06 | No. the orcs are very capable of ignoring my reports. So, let's go back over a few things... 1.) A thread has 150 or more posts without an orc interruption. A person makes the post: liar, whiner, ass, ass, ass. A few posts follow. I report it. The thread gets closed because of "complaints" received (did I not mention the lack of warnings and delete notifications?) but the post is not moderated and the thread is not really closed. I quote the post and say it needs to be moderated. Later, my post is deleted but not the post with the attacks. Then the thread is really closed. WTF? Similar posts reported by other people get the post deleted even if it right before a thread closure and only if I am not the one reporting. Ridiculous. 2.) I get a 72 hour suspension. It ends but I can't log in over an hour later due to a mistake in reactivation. I submit a report and it is responded to after an hour saying my account will be activated shortly and then it is closed. 10+ hours later I still can't log in and have to create a new submission to get my account (not this one...) activated and it only takes 10 minutes total from my submission to be solved. 12 hours late. I can accept the first as an accident but don't tell me you will fix it and then "forget" about me. 3.) Based upopn several other things I complain to CS that I am being jerked around. They tell me this is all coincidence (just like the slow report system tonight...give me a break...) and I receive a survey link to "No survey found" web page. Just like 90%+ of my other surveys which I had mentioned were bad multiple times in the past. 4.) At one point, all my past submissions disappeared. My resulting submission went like this: explain problem, response (escalated for further review, 24-48 hours or less), two days + later ask for help again, one day after that I receive a response asking if I still need help , Yes!, five days later I receive another response that helped partly but I am still missing most...5.) I ask a simple question in a new submission by itself because it was left unanswered in another submission that was closed and when I updated (the original submission) asking for the question's answer it was ignored. Sixteen days later I finally get an answer. I have had worse response times but I will not bother to specify on that... I could go on and on... But, it is late. |
| #34dougdubDec 02, 2009 23:29:01 | @ Mudbunny Show me an instance where a post as I mentioned was reported but not moderated, including those where the thread was closed. I have never seen it happen except in a case involving myself. Never. |
| #35WebsterDec 03, 2009 3:30:30 | The ORCs do not announce to anyone who gets warnings and such. |
| #36Seeker95Dec 03, 2009 7:21:57 | dougdub, I thought you were leaving. The tone of your posts indicates your objective is more self-focused than community-focused. I report posts because I believe the ORCs and VCLs help make the community a more enjoyable place. If an ORC takes two days to get to it, no problem. I did my part, and that's good enough for me. It appears you are reporting a post in order to get someone else in trouble. How you did everything is fine. But it is possible to do the right thing for the wrong reasons. No big deal usually. But now you're griping. If your intent is to criticize or complain, there is no facet of your life that will fail to provide you with opportunity to do so. |
| #37mudbunnyDec 03, 2009 8:23:00 | @dougdub I am sorry that you feel that the ORCs have singled you out and are ignoring your reports. I can assure you that it is not happening. As you can see, the thread in question in the forum has been locked. Did it take longer than ideal, yes. However, Webster noted that there were problems in the reporting system for the ORCs, so I can accept that. I noted upthread the steps you can take if you feel that the moderation of the site is not being done properly. If yo uhave problems, that is the appropriate step to take. |
| #38dougdubDec 03, 2009 18:38:50 | It seems that I need to set a few things straight. :-)
Yes, I both know that is the case and agree with it as a policy. I was referring to the post that ORCs typically leave after deleting/editing posts or just in general a warning to be polite. There was one post deleted but no message left by an ORC. First, that means any who made a report have absolutely no idea if moderation was performed, determined not to be necessary or if the report was still yet to be examined. If a message is left, not only does the reporter know that something has been done it will also alert others to be on their best behavior and there is less to worry about with unmoderated posts that were reported. The thread was moderated and yet received no post from the ORC. That makes missing the deleted quote which was left in its entirety within the very next quote in its thread a problem. The fact that there is so much garbage spewed in a political thread makes it very likely material will be missed and thus the need for a message by moderation is increased. Next on the list...
Yes, I am appreciative that it was locked after the moderation did not occur. However, I was already aware that it would take some time for the VCL (in this case Webster) to notice the request, transfer it to VCL Coordination, and have an on duty ORC process it. I was previously aware of the time constraints with the request thread and made a point to follow the process as it occurred. With the actual moderation performed prior to my posting in here, time was not the issue. Moderation began and was completed. It was lacking, IMO. I have my reasons for believing that other people reporting would have resulted in a different outcome, but that is something I am not going to drag out.
Yes, and I pm'd you with why that would not work. That particular story I will do a favor to some unnamed personas and keep out of the public light. Finally, this bit of nuissance... :-)
I had every intention of but I knew that I would need to straighten out misconceptions. So, I kept watch to see what would be said. Your original post was somewhat entertaining but this one is not.
So, if a person complains about the treatment he has received it is worthy of note that he makes such a complaint based upon himself and how it has affected him? That statement doesn't seem a big deal and it bothers me little but rather appears to be a curiosity.
I too believe the purpose of ORCs and VCLs is to help make the community a more enjoyable place. Sometimes I report posts that make the place less enjoyable for me. Sometimes I report posts that I believe make the community less enjoyable for others. Time was not a factor here. Moderation began and ended before my complaint. Let me just say that the outcome was less than desired in the case of this particular thread.
No, I did not report a post to get someone in trouble and I did not post in a manner that appears that way. I did not complain that specific posters were not publicly warned. (See above.) Also, I was challenged on my criticism and told that maybe my reports which were left untouched were for posts that should not have been moderated. So, rather than bluster, I gave a concrete example by posting as a quote a missed moderation that definitely met the criteria because it was itself a quote of a deleted post. It was even right after the deleted post in posting order. There was no intent to point out a poster but rather to supply concrete facts. Further, look to my example of the post where one poster called a second poster a liar, a whiner, and then an ass three times over. The thread was closed with the statement of "closed due to complaints received". The post was not moderated and so it appears that reporting kills conversations by locking threads rather than dealing with personal attacks. To the best of my knowledge (and I have intentionally checked several times to see...), the poster who was attacked has not posted in that forum since. That is something that I believe is bad for a community. So, I think that is a cause worth yapping over...
Yawn. Moot point. See above. |
| #39Dane_McArdyDec 05, 2009 12:18:21 | I have to say, I'm really impressed with myself. I started the thread, because I had an ongoing problem, that had been lasting for 5 weeks. What I didn't say was that it second time I've had issues with my account being messed up. The reason that I made this thread, was because I was at an end as to what to do. I could log in, but because my account was messed up, the help links didn't work. I couldn't get onto the forums, so I couldn't send PMs asking for help, or post for help. I tried calling and that didn't work either. I finally had to make a post to get some attention, and it turns out that the error was on WoTC part, they fixed it within two days, letting me know that it might not get fixed till afte the holiday weekend, but it was fixed before. One of my personal goals is to deal with things less off the cuff, and I feel my OP reflected that after 5 weeks, I was really getting ready to dump it, because I was. While strongly worded, there wasn't any name calling, or assessments of WOTC ability. Now this guy had a few days of not being able to log on, and sent in reports twice, and got it fixed fast the second time. So compared to this, I'm really pleased with the progress I've made towards keeping my personal goal. |
| #40Seeker95Dec 05, 2009 23:01:57 | So compared to this, I'm really pleased with the progress I've made towards keeping my personal goal. You have class, Dane Solid class. |
