| #1RUMPLESTIXNov 03, 2008 16:40:40 | To put it bluntly, the incompetence astounds me. The thread about not voting for McCain is full of anti-american snips. Fine, if it is in the Off-topic Tavern. however, it is in the 4th edition general forum and has garnered about 100 hits as of this post. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that it needs to move. (the Rumplestix leaves, on its way to report a thread to be moved.) |

Posting here only serves to draw attention to the thread, actually encouraging more people to read it, not less. |
| #3RUMPLESTIXNov 03, 2008 16:58:54 | It has been up about four to five hours and received over a hundred posts. I put this thread here to point out either incompetence or willing negligence. |
| #4orc_taoNov 03, 2008 17:10:00 | While ORCs gladly take care of Code of Conduct issues, moving threads into the off-topic forum and complaints about political discussion both fall under the purview of the Community Management team. Please post a request on the Forum Lead Suggestion thread if you wish to have the thread moved into the off-topic area. Also, remember that Forum Leads are volunteers and are neither required nor expected to be online at all hours of the day. |
| #5RUMPLESTIXNov 03, 2008 17:12:18 | Much obliged. It still does not explain why no one has moved it though. |
| #6orc_taoNov 03, 2008 17:18:57 | Much obliged. It still does not explain why no one has moved it though. ORCs shouldn't move it (though if it gets to the point where it is causing MAJOR issues, we have other options). We are, however, monitoring it closely for Code of Conduct violations. No one has reported it to the Forum Lead and/or VCL. The Forum Lead and/or VCL may not have been on the board in the last few hours. He may have a date or something. ;) The wheels of progress turn slowly sometimes, but fear not; they are turning. |
| #7wrecanNov 03, 2008 17:25:49 | There is no Forum Lead for the General Board. I am a Forum Lead and I reported the thread as soon as I saw it. But the VCL isn't around. This is something the ORCs should really handle because I think that thread is also a violation of the CoC as baiting. |
| #8RUMPLESTIXNov 03, 2008 17:29:25 | Is reporting to a forum lead different than putting it in the thread you mentioned? So, if I started reporting all the posts that are politically flaming like 'We Europeans hope you don't do something stupid like elect another Republican' would it be moved on? I reported several such things along with worse insults thrown at groups of people last night. About three orcs came and were in the tavern for a while. They went away and did nothing. Things like: saying blacks werre typically genetically dumber than others talking about aborting deformed fetuses: asking for a coat hangar to take care of the presentient lump of tissue saying it has been proven that those who listen to fox news are unaware of reality espousing taking away the right to procreate for those who may pass 'defects' on. saying that all republicans are racist is it the orc's job to take care of those? |
| #9vaalingrade_ashland_02Nov 03, 2008 17:52:16 | Can we please step back from using 'anti-american' in a political context too? This election season has gotten my pretty sick and tired of hearing how I'm apperently not a 'real American' because I disagree with a certain politicla ideology. |
| #10RUMPLESTIXNov 03, 2008 17:57:35 | Can we please step back from using 'anti-american' in a political context too? Happy now? Question, how can you use anti-american in any other than a political way? |
| #11RUMPLESTIXNov 03, 2008 17:58:30 | I would still like to know why nothing in post #8 was taken care of. |
| #12RUMPLESTIXNov 03, 2008 18:39:25 | Also, some posts (including at least one of my own) were removed from the thread. However, none that I reported were. Here is a list of pretty bad quotes from about #1 to #40. Do these count as political flaming and then some? As a European I beg the Americans NOT to vote for McCain. Having a mentally challenged individual for President for 8 years has been ENOUGH! As a member of the rest of the world, I am anxiously waiting and praying that America doesn't make itself the joke of the world yet again with a Bush wannabe. I absolutely LOVE the people who look at an obvious slip of the tongue and attribute it to something else. It's these sorts of people who inflicted Bush on America for the last 8 years. No, the sort of people who inflicted Bush on America for the last 8 years are the sort of people who look for the slip of the tongue by a Democrat and then attribute it to something else, but ignore all of the luscious Bush quotes that came out day after day after day. Fool me once, shame on me... Fool me twice... how does it go again? Well, anyways, you won't fool me again! P.S. I am a wartime president! I'm a president with war on my mind! You should re-read what I wrote. I am VERY anti-Bush. My statement was basically saying that Republican supporters who try and twist slips of the tongue from Democrats are hypocrites at best... at worst they are something that would be a violation of the CoC for me to name. Maybe you opinion would be valid if you could spell 'genius'. This is true. I absolutely abhor the Electoral College. A small part of me would love to see Republicans cheat McCain into office. We'd get riots and there would be a very good chance for a Contitutional Amendment that would rid us of the College. Are you so weak minded that they will actually have an influence on the way you vote? If the answer is no, then it's no big deal. Everyone in this world has the right to their opinion. That's one of the rights this Country was founded on, and one of the rights that Bush has been trying to strip us of. Perhaps I should go get the quotes I alluded to in the Off-topic Tavern and bring them here too. That way everyone can see what else gets let go. If I am bringing this grievance to the wrong place or in an inappropriate manner, I would appreciate a moderator of some sort letting me know and giving an explanation. Note: The last bit was sincere. I am not being sarcastic. |
| #13RUMPLESTIXNov 03, 2008 18:44:27 | The thread is closed. I would have been happy if it had just been moved. It is sad that I had to blow anonymity to get something done. |
| #14RUMPLESTIXNov 03, 2008 19:08:14 | Is reporting to a forum lead different than putting it in the thread you mentioned? So, if I started reporting all the posts that are politically flaming like 'We Europeans hope you don't do something stupid like elect another Republican' would it be moved on? I would still hope for my questions to be answered on this one. |
| #15RUMPLESTIXNov 03, 2008 19:19:11 | Do you really expect moderation to answer to you? ORC Tao posted twice earlier in the thread. I don't see why an ORc can't do it again. Of course confusing can and will just might put me on the road to nowhere. ![]() |
| #16crimson_lancerNov 03, 2008 21:09:27 | I asked that it be closed. People would have just followed it if it had only been moved, and the extremely negative feedback would have continued. |
| #17WebsterNov 03, 2008 21:29:11 | The Forum Lead and/or VCL may not have been on the board in the last few hours. He may have a date or something. Heh. No, I wasn't online at that time. FYI, it is the VCL that has the auturoity to move threads. If a forum doesn't have a FL, you can always contact the VCL. |
| #18RUMPLESTIXNov 03, 2008 21:57:18 | Heh. No, I wasn't online at that time. (The Rumplestix manifests its opposable fingers and begins taking notes.) Useful information, I'll remember that. Thank you Still, I haven't received a response on why there was no action on something else.... The fact that I didn't was the entire reason I made such a big deal about getting this thing done. |
| #19WebsterNov 03, 2008 22:04:48 | Just because you don't see something done doesnt' mean there's nothing going on behind the scenes. When there are Code of Conduct violations, the ORCs handle them. |
| #20RUMPLESTIXNov 03, 2008 22:11:22 | Just because you don't see something done doesnt' mean there's nothing going on behind the scenes. OK, so maybe I should just shutup and have a little patience then. Darn voice of reason that I can't ignore. (The Rumplestix ambles off in search of more tubers amidst the threads. Winter is fast approaching.) |
| #21WebsterNov 03, 2008 22:17:35 | I can't go into the exact process, but it's a little more than "Delete post". |
