| #1LeviMilesFeb 12, 2012 21:07:42 | Hey everyone! It's been so long since I've gone on here that I couldn't even figure out what my old password or security question was! But that's irrelevant to this post! There's an awesome event coming up in March that I think everyone who loves Dungeons and Dragons and fantasy in general should attend. Details are posted below. ___ The University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee's Religious Studies Student Organization in conjunction with the Creative Writing department are holding their annual spring semester guest lecture, this year featuring renown game designer and author, Monte Cook! Please see the details about this event below. ____ Real World Deities In Fictional Worlds: The Gods of Dungeons & Dragons What is the relationship of mythology and imagination in both the fantasy and the reality of the role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons? Get the inside scoop from co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 and the lead designer of the next edition of the world's oldest roleplaying game! Tuesday, March 6th, 4:00 - 5:00 PM Located in Bolton Hall 150, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Refreshments to Follow Free and Open to the Public Hope to see everyone there! Don't be afraid to ask questions, and if I know the answer I'll get back to you in a timely fashion! |
| #2zombie_babiesFeb 13, 2012 13:10:46 | Why would I travel to Wisconsin for an hour? Go Buckeyes! |
| #3bone_nagaFeb 13, 2012 17:03:58 | I like some of Monte's past work and he's good at fluff writing, but I hate Milwaukee. I really really hate it. Every time I visit that place it is worse than the time before. |
| #4LeviMilesFeb 14, 2012 20:34:26 | While I whole-heartedly understand your sentiments on Wisconsin, and can understand why you may not be a fan of Mr. Cook's work, I would appreciate it if you kept those comments to yourself. I'm only trying to spread the word on what should be an interesting lecture, which is being put on by someone many people find to be influential and knowledgeable. Yet another reason I haven't visited the WotC forums in ages. To those of you who have interest in attending, please don't be afraid to ask questions here if you have any. The one question I have recieved is about this event being recorded. Right now, we aren't planning on it, but we have discussed the option and are looking into recording it if Mr. Cook is open to the idea! ![]() Once again, thanks for checking in, and hope to see you there! |

You see the issue? Who's gonna fly to the US for a one hour lecture? Who's gonna take off a couple days of work and fly or drive to Wisconsin for a one hour lecture? Does not compute. |
| #6ADHadhFeb 15, 2012 9:14:12 | I'll wait for the lecture to be blogged somewhere. If I'll care enough ![]() |
| #7LeviMilesFeb 15, 2012 11:06:44 | I figured this was a great spot to get the word out! I'm sure there are some people from the Wisconsin/Illinois area that would be interested in stopping in floating around on here. ![]() And I'm sure quite a few people will blog about the lecture, I know I will! ![]() |
| #8zombie_babiesFeb 15, 2012 12:00:24 | You'd probably be best served contacting these folks. A search for Illinois or whatever groups would probably also be good. |
| #9DragonetteFeb 15, 2012 13:33:15 | Moved to a more appropriate forum. You can post move requests here: community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758... Monica |
| #10mudbunnyFeb 15, 2012 16:13:56 | I figured this was a great spot to get the word out! Sounds interesting. If I wasn't aropund 10 hours (and a different country) away, I would probably drop by to listen. As it is, I would relly like to hear a recording of his lecture. Thanks!! |
