v3.5 vs 4e Eberron Threads/Forums?

With discussion of 4e in Eberron ramping up and continued interest in v3.5 Eberron, I've noticed a few occasions where there was some confusion as to whether someone was talking about v3.5 or 4e Eberron and rules. It's nothing major, but it doesn't create at least one or two posts of cross-confusion. I suspect the confusions might increase after the 4e Eberron books are released.

Should this forum be split, or should we at least make it a habit of prefixing our thread subjects with [v3.5] or [4e]?

I don't think there needs to be a split. People will get the lingo form both editions eventually. Getting info from both editions can be good for all gamers.

If your question/comment is edition specific, you should definitely state that edition in either the title of the thread, or early on in the original post.

When talking mechanics I definitely think its worthwhile clarifying what system you're using (whether its 3.5, Pathfinder, 4e or GURPs). But its unnecessary for story discussions at the moment. Inevitably there'll be changes in the ECG and EPG so we'll have to see how important they are further down the line.

I think forums splits do more harm than good. When EB was split into 4 or more little forums I never visited a few of them that pertained to items or other things. I am sure some interesting things were said in those threads though but I missed out because I just never thought they would be important.

If the EB forums activity goes through the roof in May and June maybe a split into two forums would be nice. It could split similar to what FRs did with a Mechanics "Running Eberron" section and a General Eberron section.

I was thinking of scenarios such as
"How do warlocks fit into Eberron?"
"Where are dragonborn from?"
"Vestiges in Eberron"
"Dragon sorcerers in Eberron."

Once the ECG and EPG come out, I suspect more posts discussing topics such as dragonmarks, warforged, shifters, using action points, etc.

All of these could be either 3.5 or 4e. The rules and story between the two are different enough that trying to answer them could be difficult. Some of the conversations could go in circles discussing differences between v3.5 assumptions and 4e assumptions.

I don't think a split is needed. Simply a note in posts to say which version you're referring to if necessary.

I think many people will get the gist what edition each post is about.
