We currently have an opening for the temporary task of forum Volunteer Community Lead for the Star Wars area. Read on if interested.

_______________________________________________________

The goal of the Volunteer Community Lead (VCL) program is to harness the expertise of our experienced gaming community to help make all of Wizards’ community areas, including forums, blogs and chats, a fun and compelling place for gamers to spend their time.

While WotC community areas depend almost entirely on user-generated content, it must also be a place where high quality content is highly visible and easy to find. This is the core editorial mission of the WotC Community Management team, and the VCL program will help the Community Management team scale editorial management on Gleemax beyond what a small team can accomplish by itself.

If you'd like to learn more you we're created a VCL FAQ.

Definition of Duties

The VCL program is distinct from the Tier 1 Customer Support program in that the VCL program aids the Wizards Community team in providing editorial management on Gleemax and the Forums while Tier 1 Customer Support aids Wizards Customer Service in providing conduct management on Gleemax and the Forums.

Editorial management guides the community in having high quality, on-topic discussions throughout the blogs and threads on Gleemax and the forums. Conduct management focuses on keeping those discussions in line with the guidelines in Wizards’ Code of Conduct.

Specifically this means that:
• VCLs may decide that a new thread needs to be created;
• VCLs may decide who can participate in a given thread;
• VCLs may decide that a comment within a thread needs to be moved to a different thread;
• VCLs may decide that a thread should be closed;
• VLCs may never remove or edit a comment or a thread;
• Tier 1 Customer Support may decide that a thread or comment needs to be removed or edited;
• Tier 1 Customer Support may decide that a member should be suspended or banned generally, but may not decide that on a per thread basis;
• Tier 1 Customer Support may not move a comment or thread, except in cases where a thread might need to be temporarily moved to a private areas so CS may address CoC violations;
• Tier 1 Customer Support may not close a thread unless it’s necessary to temporarily close it, pending VCL/CM review.
