Description of 4E General forum This should be a brief decription of the 4E General forum. The type of discussion that goes on here. Any other ideas?? _________________________________________________________________ Welcome to General Discussion What is General Discussion It is actually easier to describe General discussion by saying what it is not. If you go to Dungeons and Dragons you can see the list of forums. If it doesn't fall into any of the other forums, it goes under General discussion. General discussion should be the very last place you look to start a thread, because chances are it falls somewhere else. WotC forums - D&D Headquarters D&D HQ This forum contains the forums below. The forums it contains are meta-forums, designed for discussions about discussions of D&D. [indent]Community Business Community Business is where you talk about the other forums. Threads in here discuss all of the other D&D forums. Want to know why a thread was moved?? Ask here. Want to discuss improving a forum?? Ask here. Future Releases This should be pretty self-explanatory. Talking about upcoming releases that have been announced, or you would like to see announced, as well as what should go in it, should go here. If it has been released, it goes somewhere else!! GSL You go here to talk about the Gaming System License. Note that the GSL is a Legal Document. Any opinions provided in this forum do not represent the opinion of Wizards of the Coast, nor are they intended to represent a binding legal opinion/decision. Should you be developing a product which falls under/migh fall under the GSL, talk to a lawyer. [/indent] |

(Character Development: Hybrid) Skills? (Character Development: Hybrid) Keep on the Shadowfell? (Campaign & Adventure Workshop) D&D Initiative (D&Di General) You might want to create two sticked threads called: "I hate Fourth Edition!" "I love Fourth Edition!" and merge all threads into them. |

A separate "Where Do I Go?" FAQ might be more likely to be utilized. Without going into too much exaggeration, every thread could be pulled into one of them. All but 15-25 threads, actually, which is the target traffic for forums. |

You can also gather up some frequently asked questions that appear on the forum, and attempt to provide answers. Not everybody will read it, of course. But you might prevent some of the glut of threads from being created. It also gives folks who answer questions a place to point people quickly and easily. |

I originally meant other sections of the WotC forums, but after I posted it, I remember the Brilliant Gameologists forum, which is, IIRC, the current home of many of the old CharOp regulars. (For some definition of many) You can also gather up some frequently asked questions that appear on the forum, and attempt to provide answers. Not everybody will read it, of course. But you might prevent some of the glut of threads from being created. It also gives folks who answer questions a place to point people quickly and easily. I will try. As of yet, I don't know if 4E has been out long enough to gather a set of frequently asked questions. I am trying to get Mike to answer whether or not I can have the Welcome to thread set to only VCLs/FGs can post, to make life easier. |

That's not the goal, though, and that's why we have previous edition and general rPG forums. I actually feel that there should be a mention of this in the post, explicitly saying that the General Forum is NOT for posts comparing editions. Links to the proper forum would follow. |
