Jun 02, 2010 19:34:40 I mentioned recently that I used to post more frequently but that I tend to lurk now. Another poster asked me why I was on ‘stealth mode’ ;) now and it got me thinking.

It’s not because I don’t enjoy and appreciate the community; I wouldn’t lurk around if that were the case. I think it’s because the boards are more difficult for me to read now. The all-white backround is hard on my eyes and the size of the text seems smaller now.

I’ve looked around to see if there’s a way to change the page backround but haven’t found anything. There’s also a ‘magnifier’ program I use but it tends to zoom in when I don’t want it to (not fun). I can change the actual size of text as it appears on web pages but that’s clunky because I only have a problem with white wall forums (like paizo and wotc forums); the web looks funny in large print ;).

Also, I have difficulty following discussions with many quoted posts; I can’t really tell who’s being quoted and who’s responding. The quotes are all white now. On the older boards, quotes were lighter in color (not just boxed in). If I want to follow a discussion, it’s easiest to follow it post-by-post (which isn’t always possible).

I’m older now and I never did have the best eyes but I can’t be the only one with sensitive eyes, can I? ;). Magnifying the text helps but the real problem is the white wall backround (it’s uncomfortable to read against for any extended period of time).

Any advice or maybe someone to empathize? ;)

Jun 03, 2010 0:53:12 I don't know what OS or browser you're using, but with Firefox on Windows (and this may be a general thing - I don't use IE) I can use Ctrl-mousescrollwheel to zoom text in and out on the fly.

I don't know what OS or browser you're using, but with Firefox on Windows (and this may be a general thing - I don't use IE) I can use Ctrl-mousescrollwheel to zoom text in and out on the fly.

I'm using Chrome and the Ctr-scroll wheel trick works great. Excellent tip, thank you .
