Why is WotC trolling PE General?

Jan 16, 2013 9:18:31 Truly, it's the only logical conclusion. There has been a troll infesting that area for months. He has been reported numerous times, for a variety of Section violations, with no action taken. There is a troll in the PE CharOps board who exhibits similar behavior, though to a far less egregious degree, and only since Christmas or so. He has already been banned multiple times (three in the past week, as far as I can tell); apparently he failed to get the "Favored of the CM Team" template applied.

Why do I say it in such a manner? Two reasons: First, a day after reporting several violations myself (with, again, no action taken), I sent a PM to one of the CM team, asking for something - ANYTHING - to be done. Almost a week later, there has still been no response; neither in action taken, nor in a PM.
The second reason: I remember the halcyon days of GamerZer0. An edition change, forum reorgs, and baiting/flaming/trolling. Ah, yes; great fun was had by all. And the best part was, since the ORCs (nee WizOs) were all under CM direction at the time, they seem to have been under orders not to harm any of G0's "pets".

Call me crazy, paranoid, delusional... Whatever you wish. Since nothing was done via private channels, I've gone public.

Jan 16, 2013 11:38:24 Just to clarify, there are two people mentioned here, and the second (on the PE CO board) is just for comparison. There, problematic behaviour sees a swift moderator response. On PE:G, nothing, even though this one is far more disruptive and has been for months.

I've used the ignore list, and encouraged others to do the same, but that only goes so far. I've contacted moderators, only to have them inform me to contact customer service and say that I should hear back from them shortly. I contacted customer service a month ago (politely and completely listing sources) and haven't even received confirmation that my report went through.

I'm adding to this to show that Draco's not alone. Several others have also voiced such concerns, all of whom are dedicated members of the community who have earned their respect.

I don't think that WotC is trolling. I just think they're so used to ignoring the (comparatively well-behaved) Previous Editions forum that, when something does go wrong, they aren't around to fix it.

Why "push out the regular contributers" on the PE board before 4e lands there when 4e will probably work just fine at that without any help. I've seen many versions of these boards and while I didn't move into 4e I have remained a constant contributer for the DnD PE along with the StarWars RPG board.

I must agree with draco that the Previous Edition boards currently have some of the worst behaived people on them that I have ever seen. As Tempest mentions the plague on the PE:CO board seems to run into regular moderation but like a troll he keeps coming back every few days and stirs up trouble. The PE:G "troll" on the other hand maintains a lower profile but is probably as diruptive although it doesn't rise to the level of "violence" that the PG:CO troll does; without that violence it appears to escape action from the powers that be.

A sad thing about both of these members is that they seem to be doing a pretty good job of getting other members heated up enough that some are saying things they probably shouldn't and most likely wouldn't say. Even as I type this message I suspect more action is likely to be taken against draco, Tempest, and I, along with anyone else who comes here, then against the disruptive forces that have relatively recently moved into the Previous Editions forums.

As I'm relatively new to the boards (only a few months shy of a year, but still a short time comparatively) I haven't reported anyone simply because I can understand a degree of patience must generally be applied to most social setting, however even I feel as if that time is passing. As I got on the previous additions: general bored today, I found a page and a half of people attempting to explain basic rules to the resident "troll" in a forum thread which has nothing to do with the rule he is refuting. I feel doubly aggravated as he is currently arguing this topic because he initially claimed his point in responce to an example I made on the subject of the thread (regarding the effectiveness of a class) to which he fired of with his off topic argument (draco and Steven0) probably know the topic I'm referring too).

As for the OP troll I oddly enough find him less aggravating at this point simply because he comes back every three days or so, says something offensive and then gets temp banned. My only complaint involving him is if he requires so many temp bannings why not just perma-ban him?

We're talking about conduct violations here, specifically reports against an individual that you believe is breaking the code of conduct. You know my answer, you've heard it before and it hasn't changed - we can't talk about actions taken or not taken against any community member.

If you feel that someone is breaking the code of conduct, in these cases maybe for derailing threads constantly, harassment or something else, then please report them. All reports are looked into and acted on appropriately. There isn't any kind of playing favorites or some kind of conspiracy to protect specific posters here, either. Since this thread is doing nothing but discussing conduct action I'm going to go ahead and close it down.
