I've recently been doing a lot of work on the homebrew forums, but my material has gotten so bulky that it's taking up more than one post, which I think is intimidating potential readers. I'm under the impression that if you sblock parts of a post then they don't count towards the character limit, but I might be mistaken. In any case, how do you sblock text?

{sblock=Title of sblock}Stuff you want sblocked{/sblock}

Replace { } with [ ] and you get:

Title of sblock
Stuff you want sblocked

For future queries such as this one, you don't have to ask. You can just find an existing post with the feature you wish to learn about and press the quote button.

Alternatively, you could click the "forum FAQ" link on the top toolbar and go to the vB codes quick link list.

Loki - you can demonstrate code usage without using the curly braces. The NOPARSE tag allows you to show exactly what the code would look like:

[noparse]
Title of sblock
Stuff you want sblocked

Just cuz I'm bored, the noparse statement would look like this:

[noparse][noparse]
Show
Stuff in sblock

While we're on the subject, I was wonderin if anyone else has had the same issue as me. For some reason when I try to read sblocks nested in peoples signatures, they don't display properly. The innermost one won't show any text inside it.

Wow, I did not know about noparse tags.

Thanks Zherog and Z_B, now I've learned something new today!

No, but... I block sigs; I got fed up with the ridiculously long ones and so blocked them all. But if you point out one where you're having a problem, I'll go look at it.
