| #2lonewolfJul 16, 2009 5:42:21 | Your team starts in the... arealcoolcat west |
| #3XaviYagoJul 16, 2009 8:14:09 | Dandies Xavi holds his heavy shield in his off hand and a javelin in his main hand; Albertito the same. If no one is spotted at east or west blocks, then both use Total Defense and move out as shown. If someone is spotted, then Xavi moves out as shown 5 squares, except he'll choose to end his move closer to the opponent's starting block. Then he'll use Total Defense. Albertito will move out and end his move one square behind Xavi, using Xavi as cover between himself and the person spotted. He'll then throw a Javelin at whoever was spotted, preferring to attack Bigby if both are spotted, and he'll Mark whoever he attacks. http://www.identicalsoftware.com/coco/coco.php;v=1;map=Small Arena;a=Xavi,M,15,4,16,4,16,8;b=Albertito,M,18,4,17,4,17,8 |
| #4arealcoolcatJul 16, 2009 14:51:51 | AA Archibald holds a javelin and heavy shield. Bigby holds two daggers. Archibald will double move out as shown. If contact is made he will stop after his first full move to throw a javelin at the first enemy without superiority cover and draw his longsword. Bigby will single move out as shown and charge the first enemy to base Archibald, hopefully flanking. |
| #5lonewolfJul 16, 2009 17:20:22 | Initiative: Archibald 13+ Bigby 13- Albertito 8 Xavier 7 Archibald and Albertito start in sight of each other: Round 1: Archibald & Bigby go! |

| #7lonewolfJul 16, 2009 18:09:44 | Archibald moves out with javelin and shield ready. Bigby also moves and is loud enough that the Dandies hear him, but they arent able to pinpoint. Albertito & Xaviers turn |
| #8XaviYagoJul 16, 2009 18:30:38 | Dandies Xavi moves out as shown [move]. If the rogue is still not in sight, then Xavi will throw his javelin at the warlord [stand]. He then pulls his longsword into his main hand [minor]. If the rogue is spotted, then the javelin will kindly be thrown at the rogue [stan] along with the comment, "Take that, you filthy scoundrel!" [free]. Then he pulls his longsword [minor]. Albertito (Tito) will follow in his companion's footsteps [move] using him as Cover. He will then attack the same target as Xavi [stan] this time Marking the target [free]. He will shift his longspear into both hands [minor]. If Tito's target was the rogue, then he will comment with a "Scoundrel, indeed!" That concludes the Dandies' first official turn as CoCo warriors!!! |
| #9lonewolfJul 16, 2009 19:02:55 | Xavier moves out and hits Archibald with a thrown javelin. He draws his longsword. Albertito follows, also throws his javelin, but his shot goes wide. arealcoolcat 9 damage to Archibald. He is at 20hp |

|
| #18lonewolfJul 16, 2009 20:41:04 | Xavi takes a defensive posture and moves out. Albertito follows his friends example. arealcoolcat While both enemies are now in sight of Bigby and have no cover, they are out of range of his thrown dagger(range is incorrect on your character sheet). He is still hidden though |
| #19arealcoolcatJul 16, 2009 21:00:53 | |
| #20lonewolfJul 17, 2009 5:26:32 | Round 3: Archibald moves into cover but is loud enough to be pinpointed. Bigby moves out of cover, throws a dagger at Xavier, but misses. Xavier & Albertitos turn |
| #21XaviYagoJul 17, 2009 10:02:27 | |
| #22lonewolfJul 17, 2009 10:40:21 | Xavier moves out and starts to charge Bigby, but is interrupted by Archibald. Archibald uses his readied action to charge Xavier and hits. mr0bunghole 10 damage to Xavier and he is at 19hp Xavier can finish the charge, but will be attacked by an OA if he does. |
| #23XaviYagoJul 17, 2009 14:43:13 | @both: Sorry for the late reply. I couldn't post the forums earlier today?!? Show Xavi will use Healing Word on himself [Minor] to end his turn. Albertito will move as shown [move] and then charge to location shown [stan] and Mark [free]. Question: Combat Challenge has range "melee". I know that Shifting targets need to be adjacent, but do the Attacking targets have to be adjacent? |
| #24lonewolfJul 17, 2009 18:37:23 | Xavier stops the charge and instead uses healing word on himself. Albertito moves out and charges Archibald. He hits and marks the Warlord. arealcoolcat 10 damage to Archibald. He is at 17hp |
| #25arealcoolcatJul 17, 2009 19:01:05 | AA Bigby will move as shown, use Predatory Eye, and ready a Torturous Strike upon flanking. Archibald will use Inspiring Word on himself and attack Albertito with Wolf Pack Tactics, allowing Bigby to shift south and trigger his readied action. If Albertito isn't down Archibald will action point for a basic melee attack to finish him. |
| #26lonewolfJul 19, 2009 5:23:40 | Bigby moves around, uses predatory eye and readies a Torturous Strike on beeing in flanking position. Archibald attacks Albertito with Wolf Pack tactics, giving Bigby the opportunity to shift one more square, triggering his readied action. Bigby hits critically and instantly kills Albertito. Archibalds attack hits Albertito, but he is already dead. He then uses inspiring word to heal himself up again mr0bunghole 43 damage from the critical hit. tough luck... |
| #27XaviYagoJul 19, 2009 6:58:04 | |
| #28lonewolfJul 19, 2009 7:26:26 | Xavier teleports into position and strikes Bigby hard with a steel serpent strike. Bigby is bloodied. arealcoolcat 17 damage to Bigby, he is slowed, marked and cannot shift |

| #31arealcoolcatJul 19, 2009 15:28:19 | AA I thought he'd be stopped by the OA one square later. Only change is I'll be praying for better rolls. |
| #32lonewolfJul 19, 2009 15:46:57 | Archibald hits Xavier with Hammer and Anvil, but Bigby misses with the free attack. Xavier is bloodied. Bigby hits Xavier with piercing strike. mr0bunghole Xavier is down to 5hp |
| #33XaviYagoJul 19, 2009 18:17:46 | |
| #34lonewolfJul 19, 2009 18:43:57 | Xavier exclaims, "A hospital welcome to newcomers this has been not!" He shifts away and uses Second Wind. Bigbys & Archibalds turn |
| #35arealcoolcatJul 19, 2009 18:52:14 | |
| #36lonewolfJul 19, 2009 19:31:19 | arealcoolcat You cannot use WOlf Pack tactics to shift yourself. changes? |
| #37arealcoolcatJul 19, 2009 19:56:31 | AA What was I thinking? Have Bigby shift south to provide flanking. |
| #38lonewolfJul 20, 2009 7:38:36 | Archibald responds with "That's hospiTABLE you flashy fool! Blast! No wonder I can't make any friends..." Bigby grins sheepishly. Bigby shifts forward and readies a Piercing Strike with flanking. Archibald moves out and use Wolf Pack Tactics to give Bigby a free shift to flank and triggers his readied action. Bigby hits with the readied piercing strike and downs Xavier. Rewards will be up later |
| #39XaviYagoJul 20, 2009 8:53:51 | I assume the last map is incorrect and Archie didn't take that last move. But it's all well and good - Bigby would have shifted before any OA anyway. @both: Thanks for the game and good sportsmanship. |
| #40lonewolfJul 20, 2009 9:11:11 | I fixed the map. |
| #41arealcoolcatJul 20, 2009 13:53:11 | @both: Thanks for running. It's been fun. |
| #42XaviYagoJul 22, 2009 14:03:45 | A story about this fight. The Dandy Story They strolled into the city of Sagaris expecting to find the arena city a haven of ruthless thugs and scoundrels, a melting pot for all-that-is-vile of the region. Instead, they found a haven of goblin thugs and drow scoundrels, and endless supply of dual-striker teams, and, well... a melting pot for all-that-is-vile of the region. If there is one thing arena gladiators are known for, it's their total lack of elegance and style. The Dandies look to squelch that image - and their journey starts in Sagaris. Alas, the Dandies arrive in Sagaris not merely for the adventure, but to bring a genteel infusion to the barbaric custom of arena combat. The pairings for their first week were announced and the team of Albertito "Tito" Salvador and Xavier "Xavi" Yago went to the forums to see who they were up against. "Blah. A Scoundrel and a Warden," expressed Tito in distaste. "A Scoundrel? You mean a Rogue?" Xavi questioned. "Aye. A rotten scoundrel." Tito replied. "Well, I suppose it could have been worse. We could have been paired against a smelly rotten goblin." Tito just turned to Xavi and sighed in disgust. Xavi responded "Whuh? Was it something I said?" The day of the first battle arrived, and the Dandies wore their finest. Xavi was visibly nervous and mentioned several times he wanted to impress in his first battle. He didn't want to fail their first test. Tito reassured him that his attire was indeed up to the occasion - the flowing dress of their Eladrin forefathers would be sufficient for the fight. When the arena gates opened the Dandies sprang into action. The Warden was spotted immediately and the Dandies took a defensive formation - Albertito leading the assault while Xavi followed on his rear. They took a circuitous path to their foe, knowing full well that the scoundrel lay hidden for ambush. When he finally showed his face, the Dandies knew the scoundrel was setting an ambush for the awaiting warden, but their eagerness to strike at the goblin took the best of them and they charged into battle. And sure as feydust, the warden charged at Tito and broke his stride in mid charge. Xavi resumed their phalanx formation, taking the rear of Tito with his longspear. The rogue moved to Tito and waited for the warden to attack. Just as the warden held up his blade to attack the rogue assaulted Xavi with his oxymoronic large short sword, landing a critical hit and killing Xavi instantly. Tito was shocked. Not only did the blow subdue his ally instantly, but the rogue appeared to have been purposely aiming for Xavi's head. Tito fought back courageously against the overwhelming odds. He managed to draw forth the ichorous green blood from the goblin, but he could not match his opponents blow for blow and soon fell upon the lifeless body of his ally. Later at the bathhouse, Xavi and Tito licked their wounds and discussed strategy gone wrong. "Do you suppose that rogue was purposely aiming for my head, Tito?" Xavi asked befuddled. "I have no doubt he was." Tito replied. "It seems these combatants of Sagaris do not respect the first rule of galdiatorial combat." "What is that?" Xavi asked. "One cannot look their best while being beaten in the face." |
| #43arealcoolcatJul 22, 2009 14:41:54 | Excellent write-up! I'm tempted to start writing my own. |
