| #2cespinar_dupJun 11, 2009 7:43:44 | SS You start in the north square The order of your chars is Aventhressa and then Sethala |
| #3lonewolfJun 11, 2009 8:13:15 | |
| #4LinkNJun 11, 2009 12:21:29 | |
| #5cespinar_dupJun 11, 2009 12:31:24 | |
| #6LinkNJun 11, 2009 18:36:00 | Stalkers No change to either character's actions. Edit: Also, forgot to mention weapons held: 2x daggers for Aventhressa, bow for Sethala |
| #7cespinar_dupJun 12, 2009 7:29:28 | No one notices anything new. Next round actions assuming no contact. |
| #8lonewolfJun 12, 2009 7:34:29 | |
| #9cespinar_dupJun 12, 2009 8:04:57 | Note: I messed up the names for the second set of perc/stealth but the mods are correct. Wrogan's Turn. HOLD UP: doing readied actions |
| #10lonewolfJun 12, 2009 8:51:50 | Avanthressa doesnt have any cover => she is autospotted => no combat advantage and no sneak attack for the attack Under these assumptions: actions Wrogan continues his move, charges Sethala and uses an action point to ready a Healing strike once Serobath is in flanking position. Serobath moves out, uses Oath of enmity on Sethala and attacks her with Angelic Alacrity, shifting into flanking position before the attack. This movement triggers Wrogans readied action and he uses Divine Fortune on the healing strike. Serobath uses Divine Guidance on that healing strike as well. Wrogan will heal himself on a hit. If Sethala still stands, hold for possible action point use of Serobath |
| #11cespinar_dupJun 12, 2009 8:58:42 | She succeeded her stealth check and attacked during the first possible square. This is the same as a succeeding a stealth check and then deft striking around a corner. If she had not readied an action than you would be correct and wrogan would be able to see her regardless. I will post asking for input. With that in mind, post what you would do if my ruling is correct as well. |
| #12lonewolfJun 12, 2009 9:09:45 | First possible square is here(with superior cover): Here she does have cover and thus combat advantage. Looking at the roller she barely hits despite the superior cover, so the sneak attack is valid. But for future reference: It doesnt matter if your attacking the first possible moment or not. If you have no cover or concealment, you are no longer hidden and thus have no combat advantage. action addon Just add healing word on self as minor action before Wrogans charge |
| #13cespinar_dupJun 12, 2009 9:38:42 | Touche. Although I will say my deft strike example is proof against your statement still. Continuing on! Wrogan moves and charges, missing, he then spends an AP to ready an action. 17 vs AC 18 = MISS Sethala is Oathed by Serobath. Serobath than shifts into flanking and attacks which hits. Wrogan than continues his attack, using healing strike, by using some divine fortune and hits as well, leaving Sethala dying. Attacks: 26 vs AC18 = HIT; 21 vs AC18 = HIT;; Damage: 15 and 12 Wrogan heals himself with his strike and then heals himself again with a quick prayer. He is no longer bloodied LinkN Sethala has -4 HP |
| #14lonewolfJun 12, 2009 9:42:27 | you have missed Wrogans charge attack... |
| #15cespinar_dupJun 12, 2009 9:47:17 | Apologies edit coming. edit: it missed |
| #16LinkNJun 12, 2009 9:51:27 | Stalkers Blinding Barrage, as such: If the barrage hits Serobath and misses Wrogan, or if Wrogan is dying after the attack, AP to Sly Flourish on Serobath. If the attack hits both and Wrogan is still up, AP to Sly Flourish him. If the attack misses both, move to 1 square West of Sethala and use Cloud of Darkness, then AP Sly Flourish on Wrogan if he's up, or Serobath if Wrogan's down. May have other move/minor actions depending on what happens with the AP attack. |
| #17cespinar_dupJun 12, 2009 10:12:51 | Aventhressa Blinding Barrages on both enemies. 20 vs 19 AC = HIT; 20 vs 16 AC = HIT;; Damage Serobath 8; Wrogan 7 Both Serobath and Wrogan are blinded. Aventhressa then uses an AP to Sly Flourish Wrogan. 29 vs 16 AC = HIT;; Damage 15 The attack bloodies Wrogan leaving him struggling to stand. Lonewolf Wrogan is at 2 HP Serobath is at 16 HP |
| #18LinkNJun 12, 2009 10:20:31 | How'd Wrogan go back to full health?? Tactics Assuming you just forgot he took damage earlier, and I didn't miss some super healing, Wrogan should be down after the barrage. In that case, Aventhressa's attack will be against Serobath instead. If he's still up after that, move 2W so Aventhressa's adjacent to him. |
| #19cespinar_dupJun 12, 2009 10:27:10 | Healing Strike + healing word on his turn healed him 10 + 10 +1d6...the 1d6 was not needed so I did not roll it |
| #20LinkNJun 12, 2009 10:29:24 | Ahh, I missed that. Stalkers Move 2E1S (one square west of Sethala), and make a stealth check. No minor action. |
| #21lonewolfJun 12, 2009 10:29:40 | |
| #22cespinar_dupJun 12, 2009 10:39:21 | |
| #23LinkNJun 12, 2009 10:42:36 | Stalkers Yes. She also takes OA on Serobath if he moves without shifting. |
| #24cespinar_dupJun 12, 2009 10:47:23 | As Worgan runs he feels a breeze as Aventhressa misses with her OA. Critical Miss Changes to actions lonewolf? You can pinpoint what sqaure she was in due to her attacking but you are still blind (can't oath IIRC) |
| #25lonewolfJun 12, 2009 11:00:32 | lucky me... |
| #26cespinar_dupJun 12, 2009 11:16:39 | Wrogan moves to cover. Serobath uses Second Wind. lonewolf Wrogan is at 13 HP Serobath is at 22 HP |
| #27LinkNJun 12, 2009 11:19:57 | Move as such and Sly Flourish on Wrogan. (Note that both are still blind, so no OA and I still have CA.) |
| #28cespinar_dupJun 12, 2009 11:38:55 | You had CA anyways form him running. Aventhressa moves and strikes Wrogan. 17 VS AC 16 = HIT; Damage 16 Wrogan goes down and is dying. lonewolf Wrogan is at -3 HP... His regen does not work while dying correct? make note of that. 1 failed save |
| #29lonewolfJun 12, 2009 11:51:12 | |
| #30cespinar_dupJun 12, 2009 11:59:52 | I am leaving for a while so after this post I will not be around to update until tomorrow or Sunday. lonewolf I assume you are not shifting or pushing him anywhere? |
| #31LinkNJun 12, 2009 12:03:19 | |
| #32lonewolfJun 12, 2009 12:04:58 | answer yes, no need to shift/slide in this situation |
| #33cespinar_dupJun 13, 2009 20:58:29 | Aventhressa envelopes Serobath in a cloud of darkness and then strikes out. 27 vs ac = HIT; 18 damage The attack bloodies Serobath. Serobath's turn. lonewolf Serobath is at 4 HP Wrogan failed 2 DST's |
| #34LinkNJun 14, 2009 1:00:35 | Tactics If Serobath moves, I'll take the opportunity attack. |
| #35lonewolfJun 14, 2009 5:38:32 | |
| #36cespinar_dupJun 14, 2009 7:09:24 | |
| #37LinkNJun 14, 2009 10:58:18 | |
| #38lonewolfJun 14, 2009 11:11:11 | |
| #39cespinar_dupJun 14, 2009 15:46:13 | Wrogan fails his 3rd save dying. Aventhressa's turn. LinkN Aventhressa is at 16 HP |
| #40LinkNJun 14, 2009 15:54:56 | Stalkers Single-move as such, stop immediately if I see Serobath. If I don't see him, ready Sly Flourish against him as soon as he has no cover and is within 5 squares, or as soon as he makes an attack against me, whichever comes first (am I allowed to have two requirements like that? If not, just Sly Flourish against him as soon as he doesn't have superior cover and is in range.) |
| #41cespinar_dupJun 14, 2009 16:03:14 | As soon as Aventhressa turns the corner she is charged. 19 vs AC = HIT; damage = 10 This attack bloodies her. Aventhressa can finish her move and still has a minor and standard. LinkN She is at 6 HP |
| #42LinkNJun 14, 2009 16:14:32 | No more movement, just Sly Flourish on Serobath and hope I hit... |
| #43lonewolfJun 14, 2009 16:17:33 | map please |
| #44cespinar_dupJun 14, 2009 16:22:26 | My apologies I made the map I just never posted it. Aventhressa tries a last ditch effort. 24 vs AC = HIT; Damage = 9 The attack downs Serobath. Fight is over. Barring any errors, I will report the fight later. |
| #45lonewolfJun 14, 2009 16:25:56 | looking at the sblocks, I did find one mistake that changes the outcome: This movement of Avanthressa is willing movement away from Serobath. Thus Serobath gets +6 damage from Censure of pursuit on his charge attack which is exactly enough to bring Avanthressa down. |
| #46cespinar_dupJun 14, 2009 16:49:06 | Check out PH 273: When counting the distance from one square to another, start counting from any adjacent square (even one that is diagonally adjacent but around a corner) and then count around solid obstacles that fill their squares. You must choose the most direct path to a target when counting squares for range or when determining the extent of an area of effect. I believe I am correct |
| #47LinkNJun 14, 2009 16:49:48 | Hm... Does "willingly moving away" from you count direct distance of squares, or the number of squares it would take to reach you? For example, while the distance between the two characters was increasing, the movement did reduce the number of squares Aventhressa would have to move to reach Serobath. Also, does "willingly" imply that the character knows that they are moving away? If I have no idea where Serobath is, does any movement away from him count as "willingly moving away"? |
| #48cespinar_dupJun 14, 2009 17:06:57 | That would also be correct, you did not know where he was so you could not have been willingly moving away. |
| #49lonewolfJun 14, 2009 17:07:11 | right on the first part. For future reference only: On LinkNs second point: IMHO, yes. Any other interpretation leads to exploits such as "I close my eyes so that I dont know where my enemy is before moving away to not trigger the censure" good game, if a very close one. It didnt help much that Avanthressa hit on every single attack she made. |
| #50cespinar_dupJun 14, 2009 17:08:06 | "I close my eyes so that I dont know where my enemy is before moving away to not trigger the censure" I believe that is where the pitlord comes in and smacks you |
| #51LinkNJun 14, 2009 17:09:15 | Well, slaughtering my ranger before she got more than two shots off didn't help me much, either :P Gotta say though, this was a bit tougher than my fight last week... |
| #52cespinar_dupJun 14, 2009 17:13:54 | Aventhressa used an AP, 1 surge and Blinding Barrage Wrogan used an AP, 2 surges Serobath used an AP, 1 surge Is there anything I am missing? |
| #53lonewolfJun 14, 2009 17:15:07 | @cespinar: This is one of those points where a pitlord has to act differently to a DM. Any DM is allowed to make houserules on the fly to prevent exploits like this. Pitlords arent allowed to do so. Either there is a general rule banning a specific tactic, or it is allowed. @LinkN: Its not like my cleric got more attacks in, despite huge amounts of healing... |
