The Core Coliseum Tavern
- The 12th Incarnation -

IMAGE(http://www.caterane.de/CoCo/Struktur/Gladius-Tavern8.jpg)

This is the Tavern of the Core Coliseum. Here, all Characters of Gladius meet to chat, drink, and sometimes even brawl. You can ask questions, talk to others, or write whatever you want as long as it does not violate the Code of Conduct. You can't really go wrong here.

Newcomers who want to make a character should use the [post=5179911]Quickstart Guide[/post] or read the [post=6463399]Rules of Gladius[/post]. If you have a question, the Tavern is definitely the right place to go.

Both.

Actually - I'm looking for insight so that I can stack it with PfE.

Was actually going to go for the Parrying weapon like Ephraim has but decided against it since Sir Valkin frequently changes his weapon mid-battle. I also considered something much cheaper that would have activations - but that just isn't Sir Valkin's style. His "buffing" sequence is already too long...

While you don't summon an animal companion, you do gain one via a ritual. There is no cost for this ritual. A familiar has a listed cost on its ritual.

As for the spellbook - I think just about everyone has paid for it.

Everyone less Ruby and Otrebor :D
In good faith though.

Feb 24, 2009 11:19:16
Yep, you perform the ritual on an existent animal. It doesn't pop into existence like a familiar (summon familiar), or a paladin's mount (it's written somewhere that it's a conjuration (calling) effect) does

The ritual calls the animal from the wild. I thought that was perfectly clear. Else again, where do they come from?

I argue because it's specifically written that you must pay for the familiar, but it's not specifically written that you must pay for the first spellbook, like it's not specifically written that youo must pay for the first animal companion if it's, say, a light horse.

And I argue that the Wizard class description doesn't have to specify the need to pay for the book. The fact that its a mundane item with a price tag mentioned elsewhere makes that implicit. There is, on the other hand, no statement or implication that it is free. Therefore, it is not.

Yes. Its pretty cheap though - only 100 gp -so it shouldn't be a problem for you.

I had always assumed that the "begins play with a spellbook" meant it was free (since it doesn't say "should begin play with a spellbook); what would happen if you chose not to? The fact that you can buy more of them is necessary because you can fill one up.

However, just so I'm not making stuff up, here's the 3.0 FAQ:
Suppose my 1st-level rogue gains enough experience to become a 2nd-level character and decides to add a wizard level. Does my rogue get a spellbook? Does my rogue get all the other equipment in a wizard starting package?

The initial spellbook a wizard gets at 1st level is free, just as the two spells the wizard can add to the spellbook at each wizard level thereafter are free.

In general, however, you get starting cash or starting equipment only when you’re a 1st-level character, so the example character gets no other extra equipment for becoming a 1st-level wizard.

Er, Yitzi is running that match, not Nabu. And it doesn't get equipment (at least not under the new monster fight rules) - treasure entry of "none."

A pity its a two-on-one rather than a one-on-one like the monster match would be, but still, there's good odds at least one of them isn't walking away from that fight. I look forward to finding out who gets to be dino chow ;) .

Well, the main "combat" stat is strength, since it's involved in melee attacks and melee damage, so I don't really see the question there.
I actually am thinking about Volderon's body slots, since I have to increase:

* dexterity (gloves)
* constitution (amulet)
* wisdom (headband - credits)
* strength (bracers - credits)
* armor (shirt - credits)
* natural armor (psychoactive skin)

The belt slot is reserved for the monk belt.
The feet slot is reserved for the boots of flying.
The goggles slot is reserved for the eyes of the eagle or something else, maybe a crystal mask or a third eye.
The cloak slot is reserved for the cloak of resistance.

Wouldn't it make more sense to keep armor in bracers (non-custom item) and make a shirt of strength (physical improvement)? Saves you a little bit of credits

Hmmm...

"-- -4 Large (-2dex -2size)" in your AC should say Huge, not Large.

You have a broken color tag in your per-day abilities section (next to Chain of Defensive Posture).

Somehow you made a very minor error on the cost of your Guisarme. Should be 5,009 gp, not 5,008.

Math on equipment purchases checks out otherwise. Though I'm surprised you're leaving so much unspent. And not buying any expendables at all. (New expendable cap is 6,050 gp, btw.)

You should have more War Mind skill points - you get 4 per level, so 8 total, but your sheet says you have 6, and that's all you spent.

Otherwise looks good.

Well, it's possible that it could fall into a third category, like a wand of a spell with expensive material components; no crafting feat or skill (or whatever) can reduce the cost of the material components, for instance.

Actually, not that I'm giving the authors too much credit here - but the two examples of cold iron magic weapons in the SRD (holy avenger and sword of life stealing) both show half-price for crafting (rather than half of the non-coldiron cost). So I would tend to agree that it is a part of the magical process.

Hello there,

I ust discovered this awesome spot, and I am now creating a new character. But I have several questions: The guide says only core material may be used (PHB/MM/DMG + XPsi). But I see many Wild Elves, Gray Elves and so on. So where do I find them in the Core stuff ? May I also select races from the MM ?

Greetings,

That's my interpretation as well (though 'Rith already knows this, I'm just tossing it out for everyone else). The ability says the attack applies to both targets equally, so one damage roll, with both targets suffering the full effects even of damage that normally discharges against one target and is then gone.

Looking for some input - all GMs are being asked to write up a short description of their forums. I'm all about community support here:

The COre COliseum (CoCo) is the place to be if you want to engage in tactics-oriented arena-style combat. Although we currently are still featuring 3.5e characters and combats, we are happy to recommend every one to come and join us and have a good time watching pitted battles.

CoCo allows players to test their builds in a wide variety of circumstances and versus a wide variety of opponents. We feature single character versus single character fights, multi-character fights (2 vs 2, 1 vs 2) and even free-for-alls. We also have rules in place for quests and campaigns for people interested in a more structured role-playing environment.

Currently, CoCo is only running 3.5e fights and quests. We are in the process of adapting the 4e rules for use in our environment, but they should be in place soon.

If you have any questions, stop on by the [thread=1150319]Tavern[/thread] or send a PM to [PM=338608]GM TelinArtho[/PM]

In case the two of you are not aware - Aquin's active already at ECL12 for next week. Probably the best time to face him at the moment since none of his equipment fits him at the moment and his cohort has no equipment either.

Maybe it's not even necessary to "flee" up to the map's edge, since you don't know from where you have to flee, but I agree that if the frightened ally starts there, he is basically shaken.

At least, that's what I'd rule if a ruling is needed, before taking the issue to the council.

Edit
@Zevox: I didn't see that ruling anywhere, and that's not what is written in the rules either.
A houserule in CoCo might be appropriate (and if you can point out an official ruling here about that, please do so), but RAW if you can't detect your opponent, you can't flee from him and the frightened condition is basically shaken then.

What do you mean "impossible at higher levels?" If the character has links to fights that are in an archived battles thread - don't worry too much about that - just take whatever's listed on his sheet for those battles. Otherwise I'm not sure what the problem is.

As for multiplayer fights - they do happen, but are fairly rare. Basically they are a strain on the pitlords because they are immensely more complicated than a regular fight and few people register for more than one fight to begin with (multiplayer fights count for 2+ fights).

as i said: this way is a big hassle to note such things on the sheets. with crucio and falko, it was just some crafted items out of the need for more expensive things. with expendables this could easily get more and more ugly to maintain.

it's just 2 ecl4, and already we're switching 6 items....

Hey, I was wondering...
What if we start an adventure or something here?
Only with us from CoCo? At least, the ones of us that actually want to play something different than the usual battles here.

I don't mind the version or anything. We just make a character (or borrow one of ours) using rules similar to CoCo rules, and we go venturing in the Gladius/Sagaris world or something like that.

What do you think about it?
#444

TelinArtho

Mar 27, 2009 16:04:34
Well - we allow for Campaigns here - though they are much more combat oriented than over at Real Adventures.

The big thing about RA though is you can't DM a game until you've actually been a player over there. I only just recently got involved over there and I've been happy with it thus far - but I have to say - the pace is very slow compared to what I am used to over here.

But if you want to be in a campaign with the CoCo - the simple thing is to try to drum up interest in it. I know I am always up for sending a character on quests/campaigns - but the biggest issue is usually finding the Campaignlord for it.

Of course, if you do want to start up a game on the RA boards - far be it from me to stop you (and I would be likely to want to join as well...).

So given the revision of stealth rules, how will 4E opportunity attacks be resolved against stealthed/invisible opponents? Since you can't take a minor action for active Perception, can you attack a hidden opponent who passes by you during an opportunity action? What about interrupts against invisible/stealthed opponents? Does the -5 for effective blindness apply, or can you simply not attack your invisible opponent? Do you choose a random square to strike?

Just curious, as there is much debate surrounding these effects in 4E in my own gaming group.

To be more blatant, you have to be able to see your opponent and be able to make a basic attack, per the rules on opportunity attacks. Even if you know they're there somehow (e.g. you're blinded but have adequate passive perception), you still can't take the OA.

So I'm not the only one with that problem. Nice to know I guess.

I've tried the usual method for switching the design (under "edit options" in your account), doesn't work. Must be an error caused by something they're doing the boards. I have noticed that the easy log-on section in the upper right corner is back, which makes me think they're up to something, since that's been gone, well, ever since the switch to Gleemax, if memory serves. Hopefully they'll resolve whatever it is soon.

Edit: Other sectors of the boards are speculating that its an April Fools day joke. Yet it doesn't seem to be affecting all members, either, so that may not be the case...

I wouldn't know. I never went anywhere other than a few sections of the forums here. Hell, It wasn't until after Gleemax was dead that I found out it was anything other than a new address for the forums. (And I'm still hazy on what exactly it was...)

And yeah, the design for the main page and your profile is still changeable, but not for the boards. Which is annoying. The screen is also stuck with all the forum stuff shunted to the left side of the screen, leaving a big, empty black space to the right, which is really annoying to look at. I really hope this goes away soon... if its an attempt at an April Fools joke, its a very poor one.

@telin: this is an aside remark from the 4e council, as to not take it too much off-topic: you said that Lelenia could have gone on an underlevel quest in 3.5.

reading the rules, they say:

i do not know when this was entered, but it must have been before my time at coco. so, if you go by the coco rules as written, there is no way to go on a lower level quest.

Hmm - contradiction within the same post:

I've updated the Rules thread to remove the contradiction:

Quest Goal and EL: Every quest must have an EL. Since all miniquests take place within the 3-Fight Cycle, the EL of the encounter must be at least equal to your ECL. Quests that have a goal other than Roleplay must have an EL of at least your ECL as well. Exception: Guild-related quests and miniquests use the ECL-matching rules established for guilds.

welcome to the coco!

as for ammunition, in 4e you are assumed to have that back after the fight, as we have fixed wealth per level. no expendable tracking either for arrows (because irrelevant) nor potions (because banned)
as for default tactics, yes, just put them in another sblock. the character sheet posted in the characters thread is just a basic guideline, you need not adhere to it 100% - but it's a good starting point.

as for the campaign, one has to add that if it really is a coco 4e campaign, there would be no way to hold it soon.the rules for it are not yet hammered out, so the best we could do was post it within coco and just play outside of the system (which would also mean, that those characters could never be returned to the normal population afterwards)

For quick draw ... it is 'draw' a weapon ... not pick up a weapon.

As for stormwarden ... I'm not sure holding a bow is a 'melee' weapon

Hmmm... on closer look at the Stormwarden it says "as long as you are armed with a melee weapon and are capable of making an opportunity attack." Thus, it might not work the way wb intended. Since the damage from the paragon feature occurs at the end of your turn, you'd have to draw the melee weapon ON your turn. Since you can't take opportunity actions on your turn, you thereby cannot draw your weapon as part of the opportunity attack on your turn either. It seems the clause was intended only to preclude damage if the stormwarden was stunned or dazed.

Sorry, wb. Looks like it doesnt work.

#646

post_ironic

Apr 19, 2009 14:02:02
@wb: you could still make it work, but you'd have to blow a minor action to draw a melee weapon. I'm fine with a character holding a bow in one hand and a melee weapon (probably a scimitar) in the other. I've already stated my opinion on OAs and quickdraw, but I'm interested in 'Rith's opinion, too.

Sorry ... wanted to look all over the place to see if there was anything that said improvised couldn't be used for OAs, it says that you can used unarmed as as part of an OA right in the basic melee attack block

I would say that you could draw as part of an OA.

Would anyone mind taking a glance at [post=17991417]Niwrad[/post] to make sure he had properly leveled to 4th? Thanks.

Looks good to me. Though one comment: you do know that your human bonus skill points are not separate from your regular class skill points, and thus don't need to be tracked separately, right?

Random question- is there an abridged "History of Gladius?" I've been reading some of the old fight/quest/campaign threads, and was wondering if there were any major events in the "campaign world" that newer players like myself should be apprised of.

Additionally, will there be any similar construction of a world in Sagaris? Looking at some of the character backgrounds (both 3 and 4E) have been getting my creative juices flowing, and I'm curious about how things will be panning out. I could definitely see the characters of Huan's Drachejager quest being heroic figures in the world of Sagaris, among other things.

actually, i like both sides of this:

play by tactics enforces preemptive thinking, and coming up with unusual ideas to kill the opponent.
play by post gives one a lot of opportunity to adjust tactics as we go, in terms of spending ressources or saving them, doing some decision work...

Example 1: in my fight against the duelettes, i figured it was the safest route to go ahead and CDG, so no lucky d20 death save could break my winning spree - something i'd normally not have in my tactics.
Example 2: Lelenia often won fights by having unorthodox tactics. (how else could a bard be GR?) she'd probably be a failure if she had to play in many play-by-posts.

as for my preferences, i leave that entirely to the other player.

with 3.5, seperate thread fights were really painful. in 4e, i might reconsider it as a pitlord.

I'm also a fan of the lonewolf rule for 4E, but will definitely not require it since PitLords (probably) have real lives out there, too. 4E has a lot of situation specific things in it. If I PitLord a fight, I'm more than willing to run it as a separate thread, so just let me know.

The Deneth Campaigns would be the last major ones.. where 2 teams of Good and Evil of all the highest levels went to war against Deneth trying to invade Gladius.. Lots of death and Mayhem, and even new/lowbies got involved fighting deneth mobs on the streets of gladius

Sagaris is 4 weeks old.. every background adds a little flavor to Sagaris.. As for Haun's Drachejager those questers are movers and shakers.. and when they passed through Sagaris they turned heads, and Stories were told of their heroics of previous battles, and the bard of the party probably never paid for a drink or a wench..

Not really. Even many of us older players aren't fully apprised of some of the events that have taken place in quests/campaigns over the years, or events that even older members had planned that were never finished. For instance, before he left, one of our oldest Elders, King Uther, spoke with me a lot about his plans for the world's cosmology, and a huge storyline he had in the works involving characters from a variety of older players, into which he was incorporating one of my characters, Archdevil Asran. But what I got told was relatively bare-bones, and I know little or nothing about events involving the characters that occurred before I joined. There was also a campaign run by our longtime GM, Caterane, that was continuing a major storyline of his, but which got canceled by his departure.

Plus there were numerous campaigns that finished up shortly after I joined that I never got to read through, and some storylines that looked like they could become major, but just kinda died off eventually (Telin had one that went like that... I remember one of my earlier characters becoming involved in it early on, but it never went anywhere...).

There is a log of old quests/campaigns in the [post=5179875]character thread[/post], with links to the quests/campaigns in question, but most of them are archived now, and the list hasn't been updated since the "Questlog" thread was introduced (and the list of quests at the start of that stopped being updated a while ago too).

WTF is a Deneth?

Seriously, though. I've seen several references to Deneth and the Harvester's influence on Gladius. Is there a quick summary. The World Of Gladius thread has lots of information out there, but not so much storyline. The Gladius newspaper thread is archived and nigh unreadable. I'm just curious.

Also, I'd be happy to make some small contributions to Sagaris's inchoate world storyline, if we ever decide to develop it.

Denth is a God invented by Telin, and followed by several of his characters. He could explain him better than I (and I think he has some information on him in Kraegin's character sheeet, actually), but he's essentially an evil-aligned God of summoners. Back during the Guild game we made a para-military group based on his clergy that were based to the north of Gladius, and Telin made a big campaign and Guild-game event out of it. I kinda missed most of it, though, since I had to leave shortly after the campaigns began. School taking up too much of my time.

The Harvester was a character of Caterane's. The characters (there were 3 of them) were supposed to be avatars of a quasi-Deity of death (Cat used the images of the Ring-Wraiths from the LotR movies for him). Honestly, that's about all I know about him, other than that he was involved in some major story event that occurred during the transition from 3.0 to 3.5 here.

@hogarth: funny, but i felt the same when i looked at adnd for the first time - lots and lots of tables, lots and lots of rules...

i have to say that while 3.5 allowed for more realism, it was always a pain to run. characters tended to get to complex, and dming fights properly was really hard once you reached lvl 7-9.
---

this has taken a turn to the good side, even though it means classes read similar - and to some extent, play similar.

i have to say, however, that even if i have more powers and less spells, my paladin plays better than ever, and i feel pretty distinguished from the wizard ranger or warlord in actual play, even though it all reads similar.

it's just the way this system is built, that you have to see it in person to appreciate various things that are now simplifying the game. and everything that simplifies a game, makes it better to me. (and simplifying combat rules without getting rid of tactical combat, makes for an even better gain)

Absolutely! But they're substantially different tables in most cases, not 1000 variations on the same thing ("this ability does damage and has a minor side effect, like marking, shifting, etc."). It's not the number of rules that I find daunting, but the fact that my brain has a hard time distinguishing one thing from another.

I'm sure I'll get used to it some day, though; I have no doubt that it plays smoother, at least at higher levels.

just don't look at those things. they are completely uninteresting.
i skipped over most of the powers, but really - you absolutely don't have to. the only thing at all relevant is your ability scores for later feat selection, and maybe your later paragon path for some selections. everything else (like powers, items) can actually wait till you level. which is a VERY good thing, as you don't need to plan that far ahead as you did in 3e.

also, retraining is a perfect feature - just look at my drow hunting party, i changed 2 "things" with each character, and all within the ordinary rules, just because i made up my mind differently (i had not even used one of those powers yet - thats why i changed them *g*)

it's a night hag, so it's not proficient in armor, and the post in the rules says to leave out armor if they're not proficient. A cloak of resistance is usless, due to the heartstone, and potions/tattoos should be no more than 10% (already taken up). I'll wait a bit more for suggestions; if not, I may decide that the armor isn't one of the big 6 because of the nonproficiency, but still can go in miscellaneous.

Well... something I've always wanted to do, but 3.5e was too complicated for it, was a Grand Melee. Just stick a mess of characters onto one map, spread out more or less evenly (or randomly), allow them no more than, say, 500 characters worth of tactics, and just let them all duke it out. It'd be a crazy experience for the pitlord, but it could be a fun idea.

Heh - I like it.

I'd prefer it if everyone was still teams of course - so the participants could come to the arena afterwards with open arms.

I think UnCon is sometime around August - but last year's was in October. By then we're not going to have any/many people in at Paragon level, but I'd kind of like to offer it at a higher level than just the beginning one.

hi cespinar, and welcome to the coco!

just a reminder: you need to send a PM to telin for your team to get added to the roster.

and i saw some mistakes on your sheet - a longsword definitely is neither an axe, a polearm or has reach, even if it is large.

as for your ranger, you should add the defensive mobility to your feats and maybe a conditional block next to your AC. We usually like to spell out stuff that is easily forgotten close to the actual values, since because of the weekly format and time scales, changes might be very close to the deadlines and thus, unpleasant both for players and pitlords.

as for the characters: yes, it will hurt to meet them. those very low will defenses however might become a liability later on.

Since the other possible interpretation I have is more favorable to you(paladin starts charging and the minotaur interrupts the charge with his own charge), Im doing it the way you think it should work for now. Maybe this should be addressed in the courtroom for future fights.

That situation is impossible. Readied actions are always reactions as I pointed out. The only thing I would raise is metagaming(by the pally) but I really doubt it.

and the phrase "Im doing it the way you think it should work for now." I assume then it was situation 2(Edwin had superior cover after the shift). I can pose the question in the Q and A forums but I think they would say the same thing I did.

EDIT: White baron: This means last fight, looking at it now, Amirah should not have been able to fire off that opening TS(for 5 damage) as she could only have fired after the move completed.

I was told that any undead created would come from the caster's control limit of 4 HD per caster level (the character's caster level, not the scroll's caster level). If the caster doesn't have any caster levels (e.g. a rogue using a scroll of Animate Dead), then he loses control of the undead creature immediately.

I don't agree with it, but that was the ruling when my character Kilpquabjeg used an Oil of Animate Dead.

an oil is not exactly a scroll. you don't have any caster levels when using a potion/item, but when using a scroll, you even have to emulate the caster level via UMD. maybe that's the important difference here.

Totally unrelated post:

Since i was bored on a trainride, i made 4 roleplay-light Quests suitable for 2 players. (already some weeks ago, but well, here they go )

The Broken Bestiary (for lvl 1 or 3. VP adaptable from 5 to 8 VP)

Jaws, the local gamekeeper, has recently gone mad - or so the other people in the village believe. He sets some of his animals free on the local populace, and thus has to be stopped / reminded that this is not what you do to your neighbours.

Disturbed Wildlife (best for lvl 1, possible at 3. adaptable from 6 to 8 VP)

Recently, wild wolves have invaded the farms surrounding the village. As the farmers grow more and more desperate, the search for a hero to save them starts...

The Unholy Cult (best for lvl 3, possible at 1 or 5. adaptable from 6 to 8 VP)

The kobolds living in the woods surrounding the village have grown restless, and taken to strange behaviour. It seems they started to take a rather strange liking to necromancy. This has to be stopped!

Infernal Fury (best for lvl 7, possible at 5 or 9. adaptable from 7 to 10 VP, tough quest. )
In the search for new homes, many a man has come to seek out the wild territory around the new Coliseum of Sagaris. However, not everything is as peaceful as it ought to be. Some Tiefling Cultists have hunted and slain innocent villagers from the south. Immediate action is at order, and the City will pay those well who end that threat - One way or the other

if you're interested in any of these, or a more custom quest, pm me or write here. all it takes to get into a quest are 4° and some time to actually play.

Was thinking about random things today, and I kinda came up with a "pitlording houserule" for myself concerning rolling the wrong dice.

Basically, if I roll the wrong type of die for something (usually damage), and a player catches me on it, the new roll can't change from the original by more than the dice changed.

For example: I roll a D12 for damage and get an 8. Later, one of the players corrects me and says it should have been a D10. When I reroll the damage die, the result has to be somewhere between 6 and 8 (D12 to D10 is a difference of 2). If it's less than 6 (or more than 8), it's brought up or down to the closest number in that range.

I don't expect every pitlord to pick this up, but it's something that I plan on adopting for fights I run. Just wanted to run it by you guys first, see if there's any problems I'm missing.

Well, the idea behind what I said is that I don't want to unfairly penalize (or reward) players for pointing out/not pointing out mistakes.

For example: Say that I'm pitlording someone's ranger and I don't notice that they have the Lethal Hunter feat. So, I roll a D6 for quarry damage, and get a 6. That player should come out and say that I'm rolling the wrong die for his damage, and it should be D8s... however, if I reroll it, there's a fairly likely chance that it'll be less than 6. So the player, in this case, is actually encouraged to not say anything.

Similarly, I don't want to have someone use my mistakes as a "free reroll". Say that instead of rolling a 6, I roll a 1 in the example. Now, that player gets to point out my mistake and likely gets a decent damage bonus for doing so. Instead, my idea would limit the damage to 3; a bonus, sure, since it should have been a little higher (because of the different die), but the luck from the first mistaken roll isn't completely erased.

A quick question:
Do we allow players to know if their energy damage is resisted, without a spellcraft check ?

For example: Say that I'm pitlording someone's ranger and I don't notice that they have the Lethal Hunter feat. So, I roll a D6 for quarry damage, and get a 6. That player should come out and say that I'm rolling the wrong die for his damage, and it should be D8s... however, if I reroll it, there's a fairly likely chance that it'll be less than 6. So the player, in this case, is actually encouraged to not say anything.

But then wouldn't the other player say it?

I don't - though if the character is psionic using an energy power on a guy with an arcane/divine resist (or vice versa) - I would allow psicraft to identify it (or vice versa).

Similarly if a creature has a natural resistance.

The current ruling is that no, this doesn't work. Acid Orb counts as a ranged basic attack; even if you use Sorcerous Blade Channeling, it still has no text that makes it a melee basic attack. For this, you need Reaper's Touch from Dragon magazine. I don't have a subscription, but my understanding is that it turns any power you have that can be used as a ranged basic attack (Magic Missile, Eldritch Blast, Avenging Light, etc.) into a melee basic attack if you like.

It's good to know that my naive intuition isn't totally off (e.g. on how the powers work, on whether Armor Proficiency is worth taking, etc.). Of course, I think whoever ruled that Weapon Focus and Implement Focus stack with each other has rocks in his head; I'm just going to ignore that one...

What's Implement Focus? I never heard of it. Weapon Focus (+feat bonus to damage) and Implement Expertise (+unnamed bonus to attack) absolutely work together.

Edit: Reaper's Touch is in the character builder. It's a good choice.

NO!! NEVER!! With few exceptions, no sorcerer should take Melee Training. Take Sorcerous Blade Channelling instead. As long as you have at least one at-will that's a basic attack, it's like Melee Training and Heavy Blade Opportunity wrapped up in one neat little package. Plus, do you really want to be rolling d4's for damage? Or attacking against AC?

Oh right, forgot about Sorcerous Blade Channeling. Yes, take that instead.

Still though, Melee Training isn't a bad choice, as it at least gives you an attack of opportunity that actually does something (assuming you aren't able to use powers through the dagger as an AoO, though).

Another question:

What sort of action is it to draw an arrow/bolt carried by the mount you're riding in 3.5?

Oh, I didn't read Weapon Focus -- I thought it was a bonus to attack, too. Duh.

Can't imagine it would be any different than one you're carrying, unless its stored deep in a saddle pack or something. Which would make it a free action.

I have an idea for two characters, both of which require credtis, one of which I may or may not actually make. But in preparation:

Does anyone want any of their characters in 3.5 audited over the next couple of weeks before I just choose a few?

Enoch (ECL10) should be a good choice - he's listed at 42k exp or so and he's supposed to have 45k to be ECL10.

What's the absolute latest a fight can be in? I should have my 4E fight up sometime tonight, but I'd hate to screw up any potential pairings because I've had a busy week.

Also, if necessary, I can take a 3.5 fight this week in lieu of my usual 4E one.

Just to let everyone know where the credits are at the moment:

1. The credits for the players involved in Erithmu's campaign have been refunded.

2. The credits for the recent purchases in the BM (both) have not been accounted for.

3. Credits for pitlording, questlording, prison are up to date.

hi, and welcome to the coliseum!

the chars look ok to me - minor advice: since you'll be starting close to your warlord every fight, you might want to include the warlords initiative bonus on your other characters sheet as well. (helps your pitlord to get it right from the start)

notes:
+ you'll have to PM telinartho to get your team put on the roster
+ you'll have to update the title of your post to be ready for next week.

You're SA damage is wrong in the class feature section. Make sure to note in the at-will section that SA is only once per round.
