| #2turansonApr 20, 2009 12:30:10 | ok I'm ready. You start in Box1 so give me your starting position |
| #3zevoxApr 20, 2009 14:14:55 | Okay, looking over my potential opponents, there's little good news for me. All are potent melee threats, some are nigh impossible to beat in such a confined map as this. Best-case scenario, I'm up against 4 Megaraptors. And most of the other options could qualify for worst-case scenarios... Okay, start in the front corner of my box (closest the map center), mounted on Knight, 5' in the air (for the height bonus on attacks), scroll of bull's strength in hand. Round 1, cast that on Knight, discard the scroll, and equip my shield, while Knight moves us to the below position: That position is intended to restrict the number of opponents that can attack me in melee at once to two (I can't see any in the map that could get that down to one, sadly). ...and, just a request, if I may: please don't kill Knight in this fight. I'll probably lose, but losing him would be a great blow to me for future fights. With four opponents that probably have multiple attacks each, there's a much greater danger to him here than against most PC opponents... |
| #4turansonApr 20, 2009 14:24:57 | nah they are interested in flesh Round one: you cast bull's strength equip the shield and move forward. You do not see any foes. |
| #5zevoxApr 20, 2009 14:28:30 | ...I'm not sure whether to take that as a good or bad sign. On the one hand, it means they're probably not Megaraptors, and probably have the ability to buff. On the other, it gives me some time to buff uninterrupted. Well, cast shield of faith from memory on myself, and see if they show up. If not, further buffs are Aid and Divine Favor. I doubt I'll get that long, though. |
| #6turansonApr 20, 2009 14:47:39 | Round 2: you cast Sof 71/71 hp 28 AC Round 3: south of you at 9,8 and 9,7 you see half of one of your foes Your move |
| #7zevoxApr 20, 2009 14:56:39 | I don't suppose I could get a physical description of the creature? In any event, I intend to make them come to me, so I can benefit from the choke point as much as possible. So just cast Divine Favor. |
| #8turansonApr 20, 2009 15:08:47 | sure lange monsters that flies with wings. Round 3. You cast divine favor. Round 4. the monsters move as the map. 71/71 hp 28 AC action ? |
| #9zevoxApr 20, 2009 15:18:56 | ...the only thing that tells me that I didn't already know is that they have wings. Which isn't particularly helpful, since there's at least four different options on that list that are large size, come in a group of 4, and have wings... *sigh* Well, anyway, defensively cast Spiritual Weapon (works as long as I don't roll a 1), targeted at my nearest foe, and draw my sword. Knight will do a full attack. So I should have the weapon doing +14 for 1d8+2 and Knight striking at +13/+13/+8 for 3d6+8 on the first two and 5d8+4 on the last. Anyway, just a reminder, from here on out, use ride for cover to boost my AC whenever I can. I auto-succeed on it. And of course Mounted Combat, should they strike at Knight. |
| #10turansonApr 20, 2009 15:41:53 | Round 4: manage to cast the spell the sword attacks and hits, Knight attacks and hits woth a hoof and its bit. for a total of 50 hp. Round 5: tree monsters move forward Monster A attacks and hits you once for 19 hp (forgot cover in the roller but it still hits on a Nat 20!) Ceilia: 52/71 hp 28 AC monster A: -50/xx xx AC your action ? |
| #11zevoxApr 20, 2009 15:59:52 | Well, with that many attacks, I can tell what I'm up against. Wyverns. Bad news all around, unfortunately. Don't suppose any of them have visible effects from their buffs that I might get a chance to ID with spellcraft? ...Ooo, wait, actually, only one of them can attack me at once. They don't have reach, and only one can base me, as that map shows. Cool - that gives me a lot more hope. And going of the rolls, actually, that one hit never should have happened anyway, since it was from the second set of monster rolls, and the monster can't move and full attack even if I was in its reach. So I'm unwounded to boot. Anyway, keep attacking the one next to me. Start with Knight, and if he takes it down, have Ceilia direct her spiritual weapon on to the next closest one. If he doesn't, she'll attack, and redirect the weapon if she takes it down in one hit. Knight: +14/+14/+9 for 3d6+8/5d8+4. Ceilia: +17/+12 for 1d8+7. Spirit Weapon: +14/+9 for 1d8+2. (Note: Ceilia and Knight have a height bonus to their attacks that I forgot in the previous post. That's why Knight's attack modifiers are higher here.) |
| #12turansonApr 20, 2009 16:11:50 | yes Wyverns. Monster B based you in round 4 and made a full attack in round 5. So as far as I can see you has been hit. Arh just saw the problem it is monster B who got the full attack monster A has not yet been in action. you have still been hit. Round 5. Knight attacks and hits for 17 hp. dropping Monster B. Spirit Weapon attack Monster A but miss. Round 6. Monster A. takes s 5 foot step and full attack but miss all the way. your action ? |
| #13zevoxApr 20, 2009 17:50:50 | Er, but the rolls in the roller that include the hit say Monster A, not monster B. And you have another set of full attack rolls mis-labeled "Knight damage" I figured were the rolls for Monster B. Anyway, full attack the one currently next to me. Probably won't drop it before its too late to shift my spiritual weapon's focus (might not drop it at all), but if I do, move it on to the next-closest one. This is going significantly better than I had hoped already. |
| #14turansonApr 21, 2009 7:09:42 | Round 6: Knight attacks and hits with 2 hoofs for 41 hp. Ceilia attacks and hits for 8 hp. Spirit Weapon attacks and 8 hp. Round 7: Monster C & D stays Monster A: attacks and hits with the Sting for 8 hp. Ceilia makes her Fortitude save and advoid the poison. Ceilia: 44/71 hp 28 AC monster A: -57/xx xx AC Action ? |
| #15zevoxApr 21, 2009 7:46:41 | Keep attacking. Once again, if I drop it and have the opportunity, shift my spiritual weapon to the next target. That poison is a potential danger, but nothing I can do about it short of shedding my sword and shield to get at my delay poison scroll. And removing my shield would be a worse threat to my health than poison I save against 90% of the time. |
| #16turansonApr 21, 2009 8:12:03 | Round 7: Knight attacks but miss. Ceilia attacks and hits for 13 hp dropping monster A. Spirit Weapon attacks monster D but miss. Round 8: Monster D moves and attack but miss Monster C: takes a 5 foot step forward. Ceilia: 44/71 hp 28 AC should I just keep the attacks untill you are below some X hp or hit by poison or should we keep the round by round. |
| #17zevoxApr 21, 2009 8:18:33 | You can go ahead and keep going like this until/unless I suffer another hit or the poison kicks in, yeah. I wouldn't know what hp threshold to give you for healing, but odds are it'll just wind up being after one more hit that I decide I want to go for one of those memorized CMW spells of mine. |
| #18turansonApr 21, 2009 8:43:41 | Round 8: Knight attacks monster D and hits with a hoof and a bite for 46 hp Ceilia attacks monster D and hits two times for 18 hp. Spirit Weapon attacks monster D and hits for once for 9 hp. dropping the monster. Round 9: Monster C takes a 5 foot step and makes a full attacks but it miss. Knight attacks monster C and hits with a hoof for 17 hp Ceilia attacks monster C and hits two times for 23 hp. Spirit Weapon attacks monster C but miss. Round 10: Monster C takes a 5 foot step and makes a full attacks but it miss. Knight attacks monster C and hits with a hoof for 25 hp. Dropping the monster. You win. |
| #19zevoxApr 21, 2009 10:47:45 | Wow. That definitely went a lot better than I expected. Partly because I only had to deal with one at a time, but in large part also due to Knight. I knew he did big damage in theory, but seeing it in practice, even knowing I enhanced him with a Bull's Strength spell... wow. I really wouldn't blame anyone if they had ruled that epic creatures + animate dead wasn't allowed. Probably wouldn't even if they did only now after seeing him in action, really. Just a note, you forgot one spell in the wrap-up. Spiritual Weapon. |
| #20turansonApr 21, 2009 10:53:36 | Jep I am kind of glad that you are a level higher than Mineau because Ceilia and Knight is a scary pair. Spiritual Weapon added. |
