| #1ErithmuApr 01, 2009 21:51:20 | This is a separate fight thread between Therador and Arden taking place on the weeks of Apr 1 and 8th Fight Rewards Arden +308 gp Notes: Therador's Ambush and Scout packages work... |

|
| #4ErithmuApr 01, 2009 21:56:00 | Ok ... @Lonewolf: Inform what box Arden starts in (Ambush) Therador Start location, Prebuff rounds and then opening actions |
| #5zevoxApr 01, 2009 23:15:21 | Arden Well, whatever box I start in, start in the back, behind a rock (as a random choice, the one to my right), holding my sword and a stone of dissolving weapon. Hopefully I'll get at least one round before he's upon me... |
| #6lonewolfApr 02, 2009 6:29:28 | Actions starting boxes: Therador starts in box 3 and Arden starts in Box 4. prebuff rounds: 1: Vigor from dorje & stow dorje 2: Force screen from memory & draw lance Suprise round: move out Should I win initiative: Charge with lance(using fleet of foot). Use psionic weapon and dont forget favored enemy bonus. |
| #7ErithmuApr 02, 2009 10:47:30 | Therador gets the jump on Arden with his speed. The lance comes with force and psionic backing. Round 1: 18 - Therador charges and hits 06 - Arden ??? Arden You take 63 dmg. Edit: -1 for DR 15/77hp |
| #8zevoxApr 02, 2009 12:58:25 | Wah? How could he possibly charge me in round 1? No way does he start with line-of-sight. |
| #9ErithmuApr 02, 2009 13:01:55 | Surprise round he used to move out and come around the corner. |
| #10zevoxApr 02, 2009 13:16:58 | Arden *sigh* Okay, I'm pretty much screwed here, but I may as well do what little I can. I am on my third fight anyway, so nothing but expendable use matters, and I don't have the time for that. Drop my powerstone. 5' step next to him. Chain of Personal Superiority (+2 str, +11 hp), Chain of Defensive Posture (+2 AC), haste (+1 attack/AC), deep crystal (2 pp/2d6). Full attack with Combat Expertise 5 (+11/+11/+6), first stroke with deep impact. On a hit, discharge my stored dissipating touch for +5d6. Net result, I have AC 32 (touch 22), hp 26, 8 pp left, and hopefully have done at least 9d6+7 damage to him. Only other real option would be vigor, and I don't think that +30 hp will save me without the AC boost from combat expertise. And even then I'm probably doomed. The map and his being the attacker have pretty much screwed me from the start here... |
| #11ErithmuApr 02, 2009 14:01:09 | Arden retaliates by stepping into Therador and connects once on a flurry of attacks. Arden You roll miserably but still hit with the Deep Impact. |
| #12lonewolfApr 02, 2009 17:40:19 | drop lance & full attack with natural weapons |
| #13ErithmuApr 02, 2009 17:52:37 | Therador hits three times for 41 dropping Arden |
| #14zevoxApr 02, 2009 17:57:13 | Ach, that's some crazy luck you had lonewolf. Beneficial map. Attacker position to use those skill packages. I chose the wrong end of the start box to begin in. Insane rolls on that full attack (including 2 20s!) that easily hit me even though I had an AC of 31. Good match. I wish it had been less one-sided, but that's how it goes sometimes. And Arden should still be able to afford what I want given his two wins vs Valkin, I think. A Belt of Giant Strength +4 will do wonders for him. |
| #15lonewolfApr 02, 2009 18:07:35 | yeah, sorry about that. Therador is a one trick pony, but if he manages to pull of his blitzkrieg, there are few characters that survive that. given the time to buff, Arden would have probably taken Therador quite easily. @rith: Thanks for running! minor nitpick: you should have rolled a save vs massive damage for Arden in round 1. no reason to do it now though. ;) |
| #16zevoxApr 02, 2009 18:18:24 | I don't know about that. He's one hell of a grappler, too, and his combat prowess is nothing to scoff at even if he doesn't get to blitz his foes. But yeah, blitzing Arden really screws me over. If I'd had even a couple of rounds to buff, things could have been different (dissolving weapon from stone + expand to huge = much more damage on my alpha strike, vigor = much more survivability), and things may have been very different in a map where I got full buffing time. But that's not how it went. So congrats on the win. At least it was a quick fight for 'Rith. Much nicer on him than Arden's last fight, I'm sure. |
