| #2ErithmuMay 29, 2008 12:04:53 | Elrick Show
|
| #3ErithmuMay 29, 2008 12:05:13 | Valen Show Ready for May 28st [Fight 3] (Free Activity: Perform 196gp) (ECL 14) |
| #4hirumajoeMay 29, 2008 13:14:36 | Valen will be starting with +2 True seeking bow in hand, at the very front of the box, closest to the center. (If they're at the front of their box on the East or West Side, I should see them I hope, them being flat footed and all). Quartz will be on Valen. If by chance I do spot the Large humanoid one, can I tell if its wearing any form of armor and/or what equipment it might be carrying? (I suppose the same goes for the multi-legged things). After the fight has started of course. |
| #5ErithmuMay 29, 2008 13:36:34 | The multi legged things are at the front end. They appear to have cloaks, and a neck pendant from this range. |
| #6templer10May 30, 2008 6:44:41 | Elrick start on grimlock who is hovering at default location with scroll of plant growth in hands. |
| #7ErithmuMay 30, 2008 8:48:20 | Valen is up, and I'll take Elrick's round 1 actions as well. |
| #8templer10May 30, 2008 9:11:54 | ill need to know where they are (assuming i see them) before i can call my round 1 actions. |
| #9ErithmuMay 30, 2008 9:24:25 | Some of that will depend on Valen, but the two multi legged creatures are at the front of the box. Valen can see them from where he is. He has no idea on the 3rd, but you can assume that it is somewhere in that start box. |
| #10templer10May 30, 2008 9:54:41 | Some of that will depend on Valen, but the two multi legged creatures are at the front of the box. Valen can see them from where he is. He has no idea on the 3rd, but you can assume that it is somewhere in that start box. ok - move 40 east and 20 up - cast plant growth (100 radius) centered on the multi legged and affecting the humanoid - if the humanoid is closer then the multi legged center the plant growth between them. (no SR no save - reduce move to 10). |
| #11hirumajoeMay 30, 2008 10:07:30 | Crouched low Valen looks about the arena for his quarry. Spotting two of the three he whispers to Elrick, "I've got two things due south-east. Large and mean looking. No apparent armor, but likely magical accessories. No contact with the third." Then with a moment's concentration, he melds his coloration with that of the arena, and slips away into the fading light of evening. In a zen like moment of inspiration, he closes his eyes, letting his other senses take in the world. tech Would it be possible to leave Quartz outside the arena, within one mile? I'm realizing the smoke bottle may cause more problems for my allies than our enemies? If not, Quartz will get off Valen and head west for an out of the way corner, and probably climb up the wall and sit there. Round 1: Valen manifests chameleon (3pp) and moves 30' south-west (activating HIPS) to see if he can get a better angle on viewing the humanoid. He then closes his eyes as a precaution at the end of his turn. (Gotta love Uncanny dodge...) |
| #12ErithmuMay 30, 2008 10:27:05 | Tech Valen manifests Chameleon and moves SW 30 ft Human: ??? Elrick: moves and casts Plant Growth but doesn't see the 3rd creature (center of 100ft effect?) Other 1: Double move Other 2: Double move Round 2: Actions for both? (@Hirm: remember Valen has 5ft move speed) |
| #13hirumajoeMay 30, 2008 11:11:36 | Valen falls deeper into his Zen like state, feeling an awareness for all things. He opens his eyes and moves south, looking for any hint of the third quarry. Finally, he closes his eyes again with an odd sense of inner peace. Tech You sure Valen is already within 100' of the starting location of the two multi-legged creatures, since that's Elrick's targeting location (since we don't know where the humanoid is). Round 2: Valen manifests touchsight (5pp). He confirms that no one is within 60'. He opens his eyes, then moves south either 30' (the cover) or 5' if he's within the wild growth, and uses HIPS. He closes his eyes before the end of his turn. Technical question: Does touchsight negate the 1/2 speed for moving while blind/totally in the dark? |
| #14ErithmuMay 30, 2008 11:22:10 | Well it lets you ignore darkness so I don't see why not. Placing Plant growth at (6,30) your clear. Humanoid is in default, Amulet and cloak as far as you can tell. |
| #15templer10May 30, 2008 13:04:05 | so the humanoid is caught in the plants area also correct? |
| #16ErithmuMay 30, 2008 14:10:29 | Well at this moment no one can see him, but when Valen last looked the answer would be yes. |
| #17hirumajoeMay 30, 2008 14:42:17 | "Third target spotted, center of the west side" Valen calls out as he spots the large man shaped thing. Cloak and amulet visible." Tech Assume that Valen spoke when he spotted the humanoid, indicating its position to Elrick, then continued moving (unless of course he only spotted it at the end of the move). I'm going to guess Elrick's next action is cast entangle. ![]() Unless the Basilisks somehow start moving faster or flying, I believe Valen's round 3 is going to be manifest Offensive Precognition (7pp) (+3 insight to hit). And moving further south to about 25,40. Eyes open only so long as none of the multi-legged creatures are within about 40', closed at the end of turn. |
| #18templer10May 30, 2008 16:50:33 | pleased with the results his spell achieved, elrick quickly mouth off a second spell and large vines grab the multi legged creatures and impede their movment. tech indeed entangle - on the multi legged (in middle of them or some such) and rise 25 feet more. no SR, they are reduced to either 5 or entangled - Btw - Rith - does that human shaped thing looked wolf like becuase we figure it's either the werewolf or the devourer and the devourer has no gear which he seemd to have |
| #19ErithmuMay 30, 2008 23:06:09 | I stand corrected then ... the 'devourer' has no equipment. Fight continues tomorrow, I'm asleep right now. |
| #20ErithmuMay 31, 2008 9:11:46 | Morning ... Elricks rnd 3 is up. Tech Round2: Valen: Touchsight, moves 30ft D: Does something Elrick Rises 25ft and casts entangle (12,32) (Rflx: D:pass, B1:fail, B2: fail) B1: Str check: fail B2: Str check: fail Round 3 Valen: 7pp Off Precog (move to 25,40) D: Double move out of entangle area Elrick: ??? B1: B2: |
| #21templer10May 31, 2008 16:24:05 | Rith - the devourer can move 5 feet - 10 since it's in plant growth, and 5 due to entangle (reduce speed by half even if pass the save). |
| #22hirumajoeMay 31, 2008 16:35:31 | @Templer10: The devourer did double move. It moved 5', then another 5', and according to the map is now outside of the effect. As far as I can, Erithmu did it right. |
| #23ErithmuMay 31, 2008 17:22:18 | What Hirm said. Less lawyering ... more actions. (and you log off right as i post this ...) |
| #24hirumajoeMay 31, 2008 17:32:28 | Tech Round 4: Valen will manifest Offensive Prescience (7pp) (+4 damage) and will move to (27,37) while using HIPS. This should conclude Valen's buffing for the moment. And hopefully start raining death and destruction next round. Oh, and the usual close eyes at the end of round, don't open them if there's a multi-legged thing within 40' ish, etc... |
| #25templer10Jun 01, 2008 1:04:28 | elrick readies himself t ocloser combat disappering from view and a little afterwards calling the power of the sun to aid him. tech R3- draw/drink potion of invisibility while double moving 80 towards devourer R4- sunbeam on the devourer (move before that if needed) - i think i should be in range - if iam not - double me and ready to hit him when in range (60). note that due to my height (45 i think?) i should be out of the basilisks gaze |
| #26ErithmuJun 02, 2008 17:00:28 | Tech Round 3 Valen: 7pp Off Precog (move to 25,40) D: Double move out of entangle area Elrick: Draw Drink Invis on double bat move (27,50) B1: Breaks free B2: Breaks Free Round 4 Valen: 7pp Off Pres (move to 27,37) D: Std + move Elrick: Double move to (16,40) --- Bs rflx (Both pass) B1: double moves B2: double moves Round 5 Valen: Rapid (Atks: 4 hits 57 dmg) D (-62,blind): Casts Spectral Hand (3 hp) Elrick: Move and Sunbeam (Rflx: 5+mod fail dmg 59) --- Bs rflx (1 passes 2 fails B1 (-57): double moves B2: Str to Break (fail) |
| #27hirumajoeJun 02, 2008 18:17:13 | Tech Round 5: Full rapid fire the closest basilisk. Round 6: Full rapid fire the closest basilisk. Continue until something fundamentally changes. (I.e. Elrick goes down, the Devourer starts coming for me or comes into LOS, the basilisks get out of their overgrowth (or are about to)). Close eyes at the end of each of Valen's turns for now, and continuously when the basilisks are within about 40' or so. |
| #28ErithmuJun 02, 2008 18:23:21 | Boots? |
| #29hirumajoeJun 02, 2008 18:58:21 | Boots? No. I'm saving those for the Devourer just in case... Given the rate of advancement of the Basilisks, damage rate doesn't feel like an issue at the moment. |
| #30ErithmuJun 02, 2008 19:34:31 | Devourer is down (dumb blind) Elrick up rnd 6 Tech Round 5 Valen: Rapid (Atks: 3 hits 44 dmg) Elrick: Sunbeam (Rflx: 4+mod fail dmg 46) --- Bs rflx (1 fails) B1 (-101): Breaks B2: Breaks Round 6 Valen Rapid (4 hits 57 dmg) Elrick (2 beams left): ??? --- Bs rflx: (??) B1 (-158): B2: |
| #31hirumajoeJun 02, 2008 22:34:20 | Tech At this point, keep shooting until one of the basilisks is about to break out of the overgrowth area. Or they decide to surrender. ![]() |
| #32templer10Jun 03, 2008 3:37:53 | shoot the rest of the rays on the basilisks. p.s - Aint plant growth broken to hell and back.... |
| #33ErithmuJun 03, 2008 8:10:58 | Both Basilisks fail their saves vs blind and the pitlord calls game over. It's not broken only because it is situational. But in that situation ... it is very strong. I'm starting to wonder if I should have build the mindflayer psion that I would have had to keep pulling my books out for, but I'm lazy. Rewards will be posted later today. |
| #34hirumajoeJun 03, 2008 10:26:12 | Yeah, between freedom of movement and synesthete and perhaps an overchanneled, talented ego whip, you probably would have done much better. ![]() |
